Well today I finish testing my Ikarus VPP, and this "thing" doesn`t want to work.....I "flew" my reflection and it doesn`t have enought power..........not even to fly!!! and abviously it doesn`t go backwards as I want to. My setup:
Radio: Futaba 8UAP
Servos: Hitec HS-55
Motor: AXI 2212/34 Hollow Shaft
Speed Control: Castle Creations Phoenix 25 amp
Battery: Thunder Power 900mAh 11.1v
PPS System: Ikarus
Aircraft: Flatouts Reflection
If anyone have any ideas...........thanks!
El Mato.

First make sure the prop is running in the correct direction.. I used a digital scale a couple of bricks and a aluminum square hot glued to the tail section of my plane .. Set the scale against the bricks and the square against the scale.. Carefully run up the motor (keep the tail down as it will want to rise, but don't hold the plane from foward momentum) and adjust the pitch servo to get the max thrust on the scale... You can also do this for reverse pitch, but it won't have near the thrust of foward flight.. Then I check the amp draw with a watt meter and adjust untill in the correct range for the motor.. When doing static test only run the motor for 5-10 seconds and allow cooling time between tests... I hope this helps..

Thanks for the answer!!.....I make the second test today, and I realize that this plane is to heavy for PPS....is the worst plane I ever build, and tomorrow I am going to pass all the electronics to my new Shockflyer Yak 54 and set the reflection on fire!! I hate to much this plane to fly it. Is just my experience and my impression, but is the last time I buy a Flatout........

Something's up. The 2212 should be too MUCH motor for the Reflection. I've seen a Reflection on a 2204 climb like a rocket. I use the Rimfire, which is smaller than the 2212, and have too much power. Try a regular prop, and see if that helps. Make sure you're getting full pitch foreward and backward.

Ryguy is right , that motor should rip the wing off that plane!!! as far as weight goes don't believe the manufacturers lies!!! Many of them just weigh unassembled components and are not even close to reality!!!! And thats with recommended equipment!!! If you get a close look at the competition models they fly in contest they don't use most of the carbon and instead use kevlar thread to lighten them up... The reason is they are looking for all out performance and don't care about durability.. If it holds together during the competition thats enough!!! Although I've haven't seen a vvp on a bi-plane... I do agree that the flatout are terrible plane to build and not even worth half the money they charge for a inferior product.. Good idea and badly executed with inferior material.. The good news is you have the best flying of the flatout group..... Let me know how it goes...

Ray, I thought that too. I thought that with this setup I wouldn`t have any problems with the VPP, as I saw in most of the post published, that VPP models have to be light. I made my third test today with a regular prop(GWS 11x4.7) and I have to fly the model at half throttle, and torque roll at 3/4 throttle.......dont know why, I`m totally loss with this setup......and I believe that I have good components.......may be the PPS props are too small for this motor....
thanks for the answers!

Today I was talking to a friend of mine, and he told me that my motor wasn`t running well because of the governor mode.........he has the same AXI and when he "took out" the governor mode of the speed control the motor run as it should, before reprogramming my speed control could someone, that know about prog. of the CC Phoenix 25, tell me if that will improve the performance of the AXI? Thanks in advance!
