Default RE: Software Update Version V 2.30

Hi Steve,
I just visited the website of Weatronic Germany. The new Software is available. There is a caution sheet that explains everything in German for now. I will summarize it here briefly.
Changes in the Telemetry system have caused modifications in other areas of the system.
The V2.30 (Soft and Firmware are not compatible with the older versions. Attempting to use it can lead to mistakes.
When mixing with the older versions you will be reminded to change to the newer version.
When upgrading, all parameters will be reset to factory settings. Make sure that you store your old settings on you computer prior to upgrading.
The 12-22R series receivers have new Blink Codes (see updates in documentation.
Basic Fail-safe configuration for all channels has been changed from neutral to hold.
Information is found in the section "additional documents"
After changing to the new Software / Firmware check all functions.
Also be aware that the Micro receivers need a special USB adapter for updating the Firmware to the Receivers. So if you have a mix of Micro and R series receivers, make sure that you have the adapter before you attempt to update the systems.
Hope this helps,
Gerhard

Gerhard

what do they mean when they say incompatible with older units, all mine are on version 2.08 . TX and Micro Receivers all mine are 8,10 and 12 channel standard
receivers, does this mean i cant upgrade, as from my previous post all i get is please upgrade all though i all ready have .. I have had to re flash all mine back to 2.08
so whats the point of this upgrade if we cant use it, all my Wt receiver and TX units are 6 months old at best ...
hope you can advise as the German site seems to forget about its UK supporters

Steve,
what it means, is that you have to upgrade ALL you receivers AND the tx module to the new version for them to work together
You must save the settings of each receiver module before this, as the settings will be cleared when doing the upgrade of the firmware
(or at least thats how I understand it )

yes thats how i understood it, and what i did i flashed all my receivers and TX modules ,, but then giga 2.30 kept saying i needed to update, also could not use any of my saved setups
so i have re flashed back to 2.08 and re installed giga 2.09 (i think they are trying to be to clever) i see that the giga 2.30 seems to have gone of the WT site . i wonder if there is a problem

Hi Steve,
Thanks for letting us know your experiences. I don't think they are ignoring anyone. I will be experimenting with the new Software / Firmware tomorrow. It might be that they overlooked something in the English software version. I will let you know what I find. I have sent notice to Germany of this thread, so they will keep an eye on it.
Thanks again,

Gerhard

I does seem strange, i see this morning that the giga 2.30 is back on the site i will re download and try again,
ill try flashing one TX and one receiver this time LOL..
it was as if the giga 2.30 did not recognise the receiver version, it would load but kept saying wrong firmware.
also i could not reload any setups i had saved that had more than one servo assigned to as channel,
Ill have another play over the week end, but for know i feel safer sticking with 2.08..
Kind Regards Steve

Hi all
After re downloading the Giga Program and firmware again to day, I re flashed one TX module and one 8 ch micro, this time i added the voc file to the TX sd when flashing,
and all seem to work , no firmware errors, I will say Binding is very hit n miss, it seems to take several attempts to bind each receiver, also not having any UK instructions
im not certain if any of the procedures have changed, But im finding switch on TX press and hold button 2 until steady green on off,( if you press button 2 to late the red error led stays on and you get a error beep) then power up receiver and use binding plug i find im having to use bottom pair of pins on micro (red black) as before i could use either. This could be me,, LOL
and also it know loads model files ok,.. I cant see how i could have flashed 2 TX and 10 receivers wrong before so i can only conclude :
1 the gigas 2.30 was changed went it went of line for a working version
2 the voc file was missing from the tx sd onthe first flash up
3 the first downloaded files were corrupt

i have no clues but for know things are working
is the DE voc in German do we need a EN.voc file

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your continuous effort. My day just started. I will be trying the software later today as well and see what I can come up with to challenge it. As in the German literature, there is a possibility that the Gyro orientation might be reversed due to telemetry additions. Make sure that you double check everything before you go out and fly.
Thanks,
Gerhard

what i did find out is the first giga control i downloaded was dated 20100702 the latest which works is dated 2100703
perhaps there was a glitch .. all seems ok just been out for a few range checks, so far so good

Hi Steve,
Thanks for the feedback. I also had an extended conversation with The R&D chief at Weatronic a few minutes ago. I was told that there was a glitch with the Giga-Software, which did not compromise the safety of the system, that you obviously ran into and that it was fixed and as you could tell from the date has been addressed right away. There are many exciting new things on the horizon that will be released soon. Also having to wait for items to be manufactured etc will become a thing of the past. Once they are caught up with the regrouping after the passing of Axel and getting the new production running, everything will be available more readily. The issues of lack of response and slow returns will be addressed as well. Dealers like myself will have more access to information, so that we will be able to help with any issues as well. I am very excited that the new team is actually picking up the pace to resolve existing issues. There is a bright future with Weatronic. The Telemetry system will be expanding in ways you won't think possible.
Please keep us posted with your experiences.
Thanks,
Gerhard

Gerhard and the WT crew
i have found a disturbing problem with a Futaba ff9 and the 8ch 10ch and 12ch micro, In PCM 1024

if you have the futaba FF9 set to PCM mode all works apart from channel 5 on the micro, you only get moment
in one direction and its very limited +50, if i link other servos channels to channel 5 then those servos have the same problem,
But if i link servo channel 5 to any of the other channels it also works ok,
THIS ONLY HAPPENS IN PCM MODE
there seems to be a problem with the decoder side of the receiver at channel 5 address, im just now going to check a 8 channel and a 12 channel receiver

ok same fault / bug on the 12 channel and 8channel receiver

Also in PCM if you use channel 9 on the FF9 which is only a switched channel you get a low level beep from the TX ( di id dar . . _ ) in one direction and in the return direction (. di)
there is no error Led with the beeps also the volume setting does not effect the level but the channel is working ok
i have log files you can see the problem with channel 5 if you contact me ill send attachments

i also found it not so easy, what i did find is you have to make certain you push button 2 immediately after to 2 beeps on the TX start up, other wise the Error led just comes on also i found my micro receivers would only bind with the binding plug on the bottom pins Red / Black

hope this helps

ok you probably wont get 2 beeps as they come from my FF9 you just need to get the timing right on pushing button 2 on the TX if your to late after the switch on test sequence the red led comes and a constant beeb from the WEA TX i find if i press and hold button 2 as soon as the yellow test led goes out the TX goes into bind (constant single flash green led) then for fast bind same prosess but a short push on button 2

Hi Steve,
Unfortunately I was not yet able to get there This WE I will be able to take the time. I will get back then. I noticed that the software date on the German site has moved to 7/7/10. It might be that they have corrected it in the mean time.
Thanks,
Gerhard

yeah i have the latest Giga control but i think its a firmware issue weather its TX or RX im not certain,
i have tried with all my receivers (all mine are micro 8,10 and 12 ch) and both TX modules on the Futaba FF9 and get the same fault IN PCM mode Chanel 5 only moves +49
