Hi Guys,
I was just wondering after tinkering with my WH Edge how much tension is everyone using on their pull-pull rudder and how do you know when it's the "right tension". Also with all my pull-pulls I have been detaching one of the clevises after flying to relieve the strain on all the structure and servo. I'm just asking to see if I am doing it unneccesarily. Bill

"Right" is subjective. Guitar string tight is too much. Flopping around is too little. Just enough tension to hold them straight and semi taught is enough. If they have a little tension and don't sag a bunch through the fuse they should be fine. Caheck them with the rudder in line with the vertical stab, not with the rudder deflected to either side.

Does anyone detach the rudder from the servo after flying like I have been doing? Perhaps I have been using just a tad too much tension.
Yes I check tension with the rudder straight. Actually with my Edge the tension while deflecting the rudder changes very little but I did a lot of very careful measuring while installing the setup. Bill

If the tension is so great that you feel the need to disconnect, then it's probably too tight. Balsa changes size with temperature nd humidity changes. I know a guy that shipped a plane from one weather extreme to another and due to super tight rudder cables the change from a cold enviornment to a hot one tore the rudder servo out of the mounts.
