Well Im a lucky guy. I got the new WIld Hare MX2 Protoype plane. Its big, bad, and green. This plane has all the right curves. Its just gorgeous!! Its built very lite with all up built wings and stab. The turtle and hatch top is sheeted foam. To say it looks like a Wild Hare model wouldnt be truthfull. Its different. Very different. But different in a good way. Its just not the famliar Wild Hare bulding format I am use to. But it is built very well and strong even for its lite weight. I have not flown it yet but that will change on Wednsday the 21st. I am using a ZDZ 80 on it. The motor mounting went really well even with that silly carberator sticking out ouf the inside of the motor box. Tom had a DA 100 on it and left me with 2 holes for the pipes but those will just have to be extra coolong until I patch them up. The cowling mount is very unique. Its held on by 2 screws on top and 2 tabs on the bottom built from an inner frame work in the cowl. You just slide the cowl on and lift up and they lock in place, put the 2 screws in and your done. Real cool design and sturdy. The ZDZ 80's spark plug was the only thing that stuck out of the bottom of the cowl with the exception of the pitts muffler pipes. Even with that there is plenty of air getting to the head. Especially when I cut out the little hole up front right under the prop where on a full scale is where the carb. intake would be. Its about 2 sq. inches total of air ramming right onto the cylinder head and it looks cool too. The air exits the compartment via 2 rectangular wholes right behind the cowling and f2 where you can hang a set of pipes.
Inside the fuselage is plenty of room due to it being a little on the low wing side of a design. Kinda like a Giles.. I used a 32oz. fuel tank and dual receivers. The batteries ride right on top of the wing tube. There is a numerous places where you can mount the ignition module also.
Something I have noticed is that it seems to have a short moment. Not sure but it seems short. From the trailing edge of the wing to the leading edge of the stab it measures 23". Cant wait to see how that works. I bet it tumbles good.
Well. I just wanted to right something about it. But the moment of truth will be a few days ahead when i take her up and fly it. I will be competing with it in IMAC in Sportsman class so beware of the big greeen machine.. [8D] It is replacing a short lived 35% Giles 202 so it to me has a tough role to follow.
I will be putting some pics up today as soon as my digi. cam batteries are charged. Check back and many tens yall....

Looking good so far Scott. Sure does look like a lot of right thrust built in though? Have you taken any pictures of the plane completed? I can't wait to see the maiden. When is it going to be?
I thought I was going to move up from 28% to this one, but I think I had better stay with my 28% special for another year. Well kinda.I'm selling my special Saturday. I'm about to call Tom and order one of the "new" 28% 300's.
That should keep me happy for another year.
Give me a ring ahead of time, and I'll bring out the video camera for ya.

Heres some pics with it ready to fly. I think Tom already has some somewehre in the forum but anyways. Its a real neat plane. Now I have a problem though..The darn thing does not fit in my trailor...Looks like I need another trailor...I was going to fly it today but the winds are howling here at about 3o mph. So maybe tommarow....

Scott,
Did you fly that darn thing yet? Just put the wings in your trailer and stick the fuse in your samari and let the tail stick out the back. See how many stares you get going down the road. As for the color it matches the scale MX2 Exactly.
Do not crash this one into the hay field grasshopper! It would blend into the grass and we would never find it...LOL

Thanks for the offer silver. I bet the weather is better in Cali then here right now. Im sure I will get a flight on her somehow this weekend. As for my trailor? Ha! Its been stripped to the bare axels. Its getting a 5x8 box at 4 ft. tall and the back comes open on it. Mike P., Mike B., and I are going to burn the midnight oil on it and have it ready by SUnday. It will have 2 decks where a plane can live on top and bottom. Geeez. I need to start a trailor build post thingy I guess.

Sorry BKH.. I havent weighed it yet. But Ill post the Weight as soon as I get her weighed. But I did fly it yesterday. This thing flys wonderful. It was pretty windy so I only got one flight in. The only problem I had was when upside down the nose came down making me hold a lot down. So Im gonna play around with that and get that corrected. The ZDZ is plenty of power. I mean its not a rocket but it will hover easy at half throttle. So really I need to get out there and fly it so more before I cna say a whole lot about it but so far I like it....

If you trim it for straight and level and then roll it over and the nose falls it's nose heavy. How fast the nose falls will tell you how nose heavy.
Depending on your taste it should fall ever-so-slightly to be considered perfect, but that's a matter of personal preference.

Ok...I think it may be slight nose heavy. Also the ailerons had some down in them acting like flaps..So Im gonna mess witht he ailerons first then balance then maybe thrust... But im sure Ill get it worked out...Just need some calm days...But as far as the other bits about it flying its a real performer. Your ri

Scott curiously did you have to have up elevator trim to fly straight and level? When will you be flying again I won't be at the field until saturday.

Okie dokie..I took the MX2 out and flew it yesterday. I put 2 flights on it with the new adjustments. The adjustments were I put about 1 degree of down thrust in it, a tiny bit of up in the ailerons and removed some tail weight(about 2 ounces). It helped a lot. I still have to put some down elevator in it when it is inverted but not as much. At full power and straight and level i pull the power to idel and the nose still drops. When I add full power the nose climbs so I still need to add a little more down thrust. I honestly think when I do that it will be right on. By looking at the thrust now it looks like there is zero in it. I think my stand offs may be a little off or somethng. So what Im going to do is make some new ones and have the top ones a little longer to give the plane about 3 degrees of down. Other than that this plane is amazing. It is very light weight feeling in the air. I wish I had some scales to weight it but I wont until this weekend. The ZDZ 80 is awesome on this plane. Its no where near under powered. It hovers at half throttle perfect. And thats with a Bambula 26x10 prop on it. I really need a new prop. That Bambula just aint cutting it...I tried some flat spins and its really flat and slow..I did a blender and that went well also. Now this is the honest truth. I put it in a knife edge and flew it across the field by holding the transmitter in my left hand with my thumb on the left stick to show a buddy and it flew straight across. It didnt pull to the canopy or the gear and no ailerons required. I thought that was pretty neat.
This weekend at our club field is our Big bird. Im gonna fly it and get some video and post ASAP. This plane is a true winner I think for Tom at WIld Hare...Good job Tom and thanks for a geat airplane....

Is the MX2 still in the works? Will it be available in the spring? Looking at getting a Cap from Wildhare for next year but really wanted a 100cc plane. This looks to fit what I want perfectly.

I had a lot of trouble making the first MX2 fly the way I thought it should. I still have the prototype and I will be receiving a new fuselage with some layout changes in a few weeks.
We'll see if this makes it behave, if so I will get some in the spring.
I've also thought about making a Giles with a 106" wing span using the same fuse, thoughts?
