I do not use the programmer, I set it up the best that I am able with the linkage adjustments, then I use what's available on the radio to fine tune things.
I do not like to rely on electronics to correct things that I should have done right in the first place, proper mechanical setup is always the most important part.
Using the programmer can't hurt, getting the servos exactly the same is part of the mechanical setup IMHO, I just don't like the programmer because I find it cumbersome and time consuming. If you have the patience by all means make the servos match with the programmer before starting other setup. But I never found enough variance from servo to servo that I could not compensate for it in other ways.
And do not try to use the programmer to compensate for improper linkage geometry, First get the servos right, then get the linkage set up to work right, never the reverse.
Remember we are dealing with a model airplane here, not an automatic transmission. A misalignment of a couple thousandths of an inch here and there will immediately disappear in all the other mechanical flexing under flight loads. If you could get in there and start measuring everything while the plane is flying you would find all these minute adjustments changing wildly every time you move the surfaces.

Tom, do you use the Hitec programmer, or do you do the set-up manually and with the radio? Thanks!

I'll hold off on the programmer and follow your lead. Now I've got $130 to spend on something else. Thanks.
P.S. I used to rebuild automatic transmisssions.

Dont forget Dave Brown Vortec spinners, Tom carries them and I recently ordered one from them direct, for $10 extra get s you a lightened backplate and came in at around 1oz heavier than my CF one, was around $84 for a 4 1/2.

Cf works great, Im lucky enough to have more than one plane on the go and as it happens the 4.5 is just sitting there.
Esperit models is also a source of CF and fiberglass spinners.
I used to shy away from the DP spinners but now I know they can make em light it changes my options.
The Tru turns are great also.

I haven't followed this thread, so I'm not sure how you got to this point, but for me, I will never do another pull-pull on the rudder again unless it is absolutely necessary. On the last 2 airplanes I assembled (one being the Wildhare 33% Extra 260) and the other being a 35% Extra 260 of another brand, I used a single JR 8711 in the tail as a push-pull setup. This setup is extremely easy and affective. No more guessing on the wires.

Hey GB, how did you attach your canopy? I am either going screws, Zap Goo II or a combination. The problem with Zap, is I seem to use too much and it doesnt look best.... Anyone got any tips?? Please? I really want it to look good.

3 screws on each side and E6000 glue from TBM really great stuff doesnt run everywhere and you can scrape the excess off with your finger much better then the 560 stuff in my opinion goes on clear dries clear to just make sure u mount it attached to fuse or your hatch assembly will warp dont ask me how i know[:@] previous plane not this one lol
