I heard from somebody that the rear and front case are a matched pair, that they must be replaced together.

I do not know if this is true, and frankly it sounds bogus to me, but there it is.

Sounds like BS to me too. No way in heck are they taking the time to match cases. With CNC machines, there would be no need

I purchased a 28% edge from Tom several years ago.

Got it hinged, canopy installed, then sold it due to having a crummy, low-paying job.

I've been searching again for something large. I just happened to check WH's website to see if they have anything new. I'm in love...

So, my question is:

When can I order one, and when will I see it on my doorstep:D

I don't see any indication on WH's website if there are any available at this time...? I remember having to wait a month or two for the Edge, but that's the name of the game...

Tom, I've got a credit card in hand...

Oops, sorry, I was unaware that I was dis-allowed to ask questions in the Wildhare support forum.

In any case, it's ordered, Patty was polite and put up with me and hopefully I'll see it next week....

Now I have to go back and read this whole thread from page 1, and take notes[:'(]

This is a great place to ask questions its just a place where fliers of toms products and Tom help one another But as is with the rest of the forum bussness is handled one on one with the manufacturer. We look forward to helping you out.

Yes I'm aware that business matters should be handled over the phone, I was more or less just asking if there were any available that's all...

Anyways back on topic, I'd like to get the motor in a couple weeks. I can't decide on the DA50 or the 3mm 53. I'm sure both will work well, the extra weight of the 3mm has me concerned as I'd like to keep this light...

(Tongue in cheek follows...)
"Caution: Opinion follows; all potential consumers implicitly accept the condition that opinion consumption carries risks that may not be immediately apparent and as such are totally responsible for any outcome, direct or indirect, of consuming (or ignoring) said opinion...":D

From the reviews across the WH website from many very experienced pilots, the 3mm powers the Sukhoi with plenty of authority and the reported 3D and IMAC capabilities do not suffer a bit.

For me, I chose the 3mm due to Tom's reputation with his products he sells and the fact that I could save a pretty good chunk of money and still have an engine that would do everything I needed it to.

:D

Do yourself a favor, buy a DL-50, they are absolutly incredible.

Well that was another option I was thinking of..

Looks like I have a lot of reading/researching to do.

In the meantime, I think I'm going to get me a Saito .91 and throw it in my UCD, I havent touched a set of sticks for almost 2 years now. I'm sure I'm very, very rusty and need to get some practice...

don't mess with a 91, go right to the Saito 100. I know from experience

Hey Tom -

Way back near the start of this thread you were looking for a way to attach a nut to the underside of the gear legs (instead of having to tap the aluminum). While nobody's complaining about durability, how about press-fitting a 10-32 blind nut (brad type) in there. Don't ask me why I thought of it...

Thanks for the advice, but I had over 120 logged flights on my UCD with the .91, and it was plenty enough of a rocket. The 1.00 is un-necessary extra weight in my opinion.

Hold off on that engine purchase for a couple of weeks like you said you would. The 3mm balances the plane perfectly if you build it box stock. There's really no reason not to build it box stock. It all works just fine as it is and the hardware kit makes it even easier. The DL will have more power, but if you wait just a little bit there may be some surprises in that area. That's all I'll say.

Well now that's not very nice to withhold info!:)

I'm in no rush for a powerplant right this second, so I'll hold off for whatever this carrot is you're dangling in front of us...

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!

I just got my Sukhoi and will start assembly this weekend but I do have a question - I have two positions for the horizontal stab and since it takes two different lengths of push rods, which position is better for all around flying? Do I need to try both? I actually hate options like this! I am a pretty good flyer but I really wonder if I will be able to tell the difference? Tom says the forward option is better for 3D type flying (less wing rock) but does precision flying suffer with the forward position? Any experience out there? FYI - I have been flying a WH edge for two years and love it. Thanks.

RE: 50cc Sukhette Build Thread, now in progress!!

In the forward position you will see the plane reach more quickly, and it will not look scale.

Uless you have a strong reason to use the front location I advise use the rear location. It will be more stable and it will look better.

I thought mine was weak even with the 100. You must have one hot .91!
