Hope someone can help? I have an older 120nc which i sent in for repair this spring (new cylinder- new head-piston ect ...) Got it back and installed it in my p47 flew the plane 5 times with this engine and landed 5 times deadstick.
The engine can idle at 2100rpm for ever and full throttle on an apc 15 x 8 is 9300rpm and will run at full throttle all day. Transition from idle to full throttle is very smooth the problem is 6000rpm to 7500 rpm
if i leave the throttle in that range for 20 seconds or so the engine eventually quits and even if i play with the throttle back and forth at this point it does not make a difference it slowly dies down and stops running ,is it possible it is some how flooding in that rpm range should i try opening or closing the regulator or will this effect the idle? ANY COMMENTS??????????? PLEASE

Hi Dave
I have turned the regulator screw 1/4 turn at a time it is now 3/4 of a turn in and the engine runs great.
thank you for your help.

this seems to be similar to my problem.
(see my post on YS110 plunger)
i thought that it might be flooding... and so i turned the regulator in 1/8 turn at a time and i could never get rid of this problem. i eventually got to the point that the regulatoir was within 1/2 turn of being fully turned in (clockwise) so clearly, something else is wrong besides the setpoint.
i have checked valve clreance - a-ok
valve cover is snug,
cam cover is snug,
air chamber is snug,
there don't seem to be any air leaks and all the fuel lines were replaced as well as the glow plug.
anyway, hope to figure this out for a good learning experience.
