Default YS 140FZ Needs assistance

Please bear with me... I have a 140FZ which I crashed in 05. I have finally put it in another plane but am having trouble tuning it in. In the 05 crash it destroyed the carb body, I have installed a new one along with new gaskets. I have adjusted the Idle screw 1 turn out and the high speed needle 2.5 out to start. I have also brought the regulator screw to flush with the pump body. I think this is all right so far.

When I start the engine it will run as long as the glow plug is lit. When the engine stops there is fuel running out of the carb (this is a inverted engine) When running there is plenty of smoke. I began turning in the regulator a little at a time until it was closed and still I have fuel running out of the carb and the engine will not run without the glow plug lit. I'm a bit stumped, before the crash the engine ran fine, I replaced all the damaged parts and gaskets. What am I missing? Any help would be welcomed. At this point I will try anything.

Thanks,
John Hayes

I would suggest disassembling the regulator, checking it for debris and flushing it out really well with some raw fuel. The fuel running out of the carb is usually caused by some dirt or debris in the regulator not allowing the plunger to seat.

I agree, sounds like the regulator is not closing. You should not have fuel dripping out of the carb with the throttle at idle.

Also remember the low end is an air bleed screw so clockwise = rich and counter clockwise = lean
