just so little?

I have one of those guns and have used it on my Revolver. You have to get as close as you can to it to get a correct speed reading. It seems that the gun is real narrow. I clocked my Revolver at 123mph.

My gun will be here tomorrow it appears.

Lately I've been flying my Revolver with an APC 12x9 on my Saito 72. It appears to be just about the fastest plane I've seen, except for pylon racers. I've ordered an APC 11x11 and we'll see how that goes.

Every now and then I'll try to win a Saito 82 on ebay. No luck so far. But I really don't need any more power on this plane than it already has. Damn, it's fast.

if you think your Revolver is fast, imagine the guys running the OS 75 / 2 stokes in there Revs.

i have the 75ax in mine. nice combo, but the t.h. 75 was a little faster. w/ the ax it is hiting around 120-125 mph. like i have said in the past, its a corvete w/ wings. not just the slippery airframe and speed but how it handles.

Hi All;

Had a very good day yesterday flying my Revolver!!! One of our local cop was the club field watching us flying. So when my turn came up to fly, I pop up the Revolver. After a few low pass and a smooth landing, he, ( the cop ), walk over to the pit and ask if I would like to know how fast the plane was flying?? I said yes. He let me see the readout from his speed gun and both pass was at 127 MPH!!! Now this is with the OS Max 55AX, turing a 12/6 prop using 15% nitro. All I can say, this plane is fast and a joy to fly!!! Now I know I must pickup another kit soon!!!

Hi helodrvr;

When I get home tonight, I will tack the engine with this prop and post the rpm. As for the muffler, its a pitt slimline muffler. I did not want to cut the cowling to much to use the stock muffler. I like how the pipes look comming out of the bottom of the cowling!!

Thanks for the numbers. I have both a .55ax and a webra 55 P5 GT (with a Jett muffler), but i believe i will give the webra a try first in the revolver

good speed.
It just goes to show that when you start increasing capacity from the recomended size, that the gain in speed is no were near proportional to the power increase. ie my engine would more than double the power of a 55 & yet the gain in speed is minimal.

The webra will be awsome, mounting with the jet muffler will be interesting, I will try and find some shots of my Jett 90 set up.

Don't do what i was thinking of when the first shot was taken, i was going to start cutting and welding the header, but fortunatly found that if I rotated the engine that it would clear the fuse, maybe a little tougher with your webra 55 ? they do make an extended pipe for the little toni that would work well. If you are going to start cutting /welding /extending, be carfeull, as header length is going to be very important on a bird capable of 140mph !!

Cavindish,

I remember those post of you trying to mount it, didnt you end up mounting the motor at about 130 degrees down with the muffler exiting over the left wing. This is actually a Turbo-Jett In-Cowl Muffler, so mounting should be a tad bit easier.

I wrote the above before you posted all the pics. Just like i remembered. How was the performance with the Jett 90? Not many people running the webra, but what little I have seen and heard, it should really go.

finally got my speedgun. Saito .72 with an APC 12x9 got an average of about 100mph. Highest was 107. Today changed to 11x11 prop but nobody was at the field to hold the gun. Seems faster. Turning the 11x11 at 10k on the ground. Probably over-revving in the air....

Bought mine 14 mos ago. Had an instrument panel.

Has anyone used a different landing gear than the one provided? We have a grass field & I get frequent nose overs on taxing, take off or landing. seems the gear is suited for hard surfaces only. Ideas please. Thanks.

With my Saito 72, I've tried 11x11 and 11x12 props. I like the 12x9 better.

I fly off a grass field. Never even came close to a nose over. Better check your Center of Gravity....

Thanks for the quick reply.

Checked the CG at least 31 times..slightly tail heavy..very slight.

Bought mine last year. Do you think they moved the gear forward for a later modification?

Thanks.

I doubt it.
Here's mine:

Are the wheels free-spinning? How tall is the grass?

Mike..yes, the wheels are spinning like a yoyo. Grass is not like a golf course but not too high.

Your pic shows the gear as mine.

I have the elevator on high rates during taxing & takeoff..full up.

Curious, your pic shows no engine head, no exhust, no fill, no needle valve in the cowl. Got other pics how this is done?

I don't understand your nose-over issues at all. Mine has never even pretended to have any issues with this.

The bottom of the cowling is opened for access to the filling hose, crankcase vent, and air cooling.
I use a remote glow.

I have a 5 cell flight battery as far back into the fuselage as I can get it.
My spinner weighs less than the stock one. Mine is still a bit nose heavy. The Saito 72 is not a heavy engine at all.

I've also replaced the stock fuel tank with a smaller one. When flying inverted, it still needs some down elevator to maintain level flight.

Mike..go to page 67, post 329 & you will see my battery location. With this location, the CG is almost right on..slightly tail heavy. Maybe after 23 years in this hobby I am loosing it!
