I made these corrugations from harware store aluminum flashing, and a homemade stamp. I couldn't believe how much plastruct angle cost!

Thanks Gaines.. hope your builds are going good.. Vailly has 4 12 X 18 sheets for 21.00 . I looked on Widget Works and can get 12 X 18 .020 petg 8 pack for 23.00..think I will go that route..also a question as I think you as the scale master builder. I have a small homemade vac former 18" X 18". the side windows " see below picture" I was thinking of making a mold of the side windows with a small lip the thickness of the fuse and install them from the inside. the other way is I made some frames and was going to glue flat sheet to the back of the frames and install from the outside, what do you think, ? ....also on the tailwheel I made, the control horn is cheap plastic and has slop, any idea on making a metal one ??.. I have the cockpit kit but was going to wait intill a couple of flights before I spend the time to detail out to cabin.

I continue to make slow progress on the Dog. Have started glassing the control surfaces prior to installing the corrugations. I mixed the finishing epoxy with 50% alcohol and painted it on the glass. Much better method than using full strength and skimming off the excess with a credit card.

You can do a mold and pulls some of the side windows but I would just use the frame and install the flat plastic with RC56. Works well.
The tailwheel tiller can easily be replaced with a proper sized wheel collar soldered to a short length of brass bar. Drill some holes for the pull-pull cable and you have very stiff arm.

the wheel collar idea is the fix.. thanks.. will clean up the frames and seal them for paint..thanks....Fred123 i found it takes a bunch of the corrugations to do the bird,, i think i ended up getting like 16 packs of them.. 10 to a pack.but well worth it for the look..got mine off ebay at a VERY nice price.. i got back here to Saudi yesterday so my build is off intill i get home in 6 weeks... your Dogg is looking very nice..
I finished the wing sheeting & top of the fuse. just have to glass and install the corrugations on the flaps.. and lay up a couple of cowls and play with makeing hatches as my batterys will mount on each side of the motor mount..and speed control below for the airflow..

You were very lucky. I bought 15 packs that cost $84. I made my CP floorremovable and will install batteries between the floor and the landind gear 1/2 in plywood mount. Somewhere in an earlier post, I seem to remember that you are going electric. If so, your batteries are alot bigger than mine...

you will need the nose weight but not to much as long as the tail is built light...from experience use quite a bit of expo on the rudder as it is VERY responsive...especially on take-off

Very hard to build this tail light. I started to use 3/32 sheeting, but couldn't find a good source of 4' pieces. Also, lots of block balsa at the tail end on the tail wheel and the filler under the vertical fin.

Yes, If I was building mine again I would use 1/16th on the tail and use carbon fiber on the vertical fin tail post and then glass it.
Also hollow out any blocks of balsa that I could.
People don't realize how serious this tail heavy thing can become.
I had a light airplane till I balanced it.

I have not glued anything on yet and have been thinking about cutting foam cores and useing Sq carbon for spars and lite sheeting plus the glass for the tail parts. the fin and rudder are lite , but my eleavtor is really heavy, i may do joust it. i know i could save 1/2 the current weight..i have everything to do it. just want to see

RE: 25% Cessna L-19/0-1 Bird Dog build
I have finished glassing and sanding all my control surfaces and am ready to start putting on the corrugations. What kind of glue did you use. Med, thick or thin CA or other. Any special tricks?
