RE: NEW DLE30!
Ok guys - I'm getting ready to start install the DLE 30 I have. Couple questions
The throttle arm is set up sideways. Can this be turned so it runs paralell to shaft, so it's easier for a servo to push/pull it?
What is the best oil/fuel to break it in on? How much (1 gallon)? And what about after break in?
Thanks guys
Tim

trpastor,
If your going to use the original throttle arm instead of the longer one supplied you can remove the screw and flip it over if memory serves me correct and it gives you the correct orintation. The screw is really tight and you'll probably have to heat it up as I did to get it to come loose.

RE: NEW DLE30!
Hi all. very frustrating today t shirt weather not a breath of wind and it wouldnt start. i took the cowl off checked everything and there was no spark. checked a different spark plug and there was still no spark. Can someone tell me inside the plug cap is there a spring or a metal bar which passes the spark along to the plug if you get what i mean? what would be really helpful would be a photo of the actual plug cap
Many thanks

What is the overall length now? (from stand offs to prop hub)?

DLE told me that the engine mount is 30mm longer than old version.

RE: NEW DLE30!
If the hub is going to be 30mm past the old version, that's going to create some problems for some of these planes that have been designed around the original version - isn't it?

RE: NEW DLE30!
Sorry guys, there is no free lunch...You add length to the back, you need longer standoffs...
Be careful what you wish for...
ALL the original 30s I sold are working just fine...The returned ones included...
The one I made with the rear carb is on C&Hs test stand, so the length is no problem...It works just fine too, same power, no better...
If you can't live with the dying problem, much of it self inflicted, go electric...
I still can't see a new rear case and reed for $15....If they ARE indeed $15, I will buy any of my customers who want one and sell it to them for that price, plus shipping, you install it yourself...And get your own longer standoffs..
Good luck on this Jody,
Only problem I've had is some sheared bolts on my single bolt adapters...Can't understand how four 5mm grade 8 allens can shear on a 30cc engine...I'm sending the customer a new hub with EIGHT 5mm allen bolts...This setup will work on a 150cc twin, no way it will not work on a 30...
UPDATE..It will have eight SIX mm grade 8 allens...

HUmmmmmmm sure looks awful familar to me. About what I expected. Would be nice to see there reed set up.
I'm with Ralph on the 15 dollar price tag, I doubt very much they can cover the cost of materials for that, But we'll see.

RE: NEW DLE30!
OK, first off there is no such thing as a Metric/ISO grade 8. If you are referring to an M5 in grade 8.8, that is 2 grades lower in strength than a grade 8 SAE fastener. See the following chart for a comparison.

RE: NEW DLE30!
And first off I do know the difference...metric grade 12.9 is the same as grade 8...I didn't put 8.8 in the post...
All bolts I use come from MSC supply, all are US grade 8 or metric EQUIVALENT..They are stamped 12.9 on the head....
In addition to that, my 3/8 grade 8s are made in USA Lake Erie brand..Six bars on the head, with LE....Also found some Supertanium brand, stronger that grade 8....Overkill, just like 8 6mm grade 12.9 bolt on a prop extension...

My early DLE30 would die if you looked at it sideways, if the low was set lean enough not ot die when tilted or doing a spin it would die out on quick throttle transition even with 4 gallons of fuel through it.
Now with the SPS finally polished out of it and the intake runner modified it is now a reliable engine.
I knew that according to Murphy's law as soon as I did all that the rear carb version would come out.
I have on on order already alomg with a new pilot Sbach to put it in.
