driving in the snow, from my driveway (poured concrete) to the street (blacktop) full throttle. no traction on my driveway, then it would hit the road and take off....in hindsight, i should have loosened the slipper a bit given the conditions.

the stock replacement is like $13. I may just buy a new stock piece and look some more for a "bulletproof" transmission. I wonder if the new VXL Slashes have a tougher trans than the brushed version does

Im going to experiment with 3s in my slash today, its minus 10-12 degrees. on 4s the motor after a full run was getting over 100f. Thats bad news, so i droped it down to 3s and turned my mamba max settings up just slightly, lets see how this go's, 18/90 gearing shouldnt be a problems even in warm weather

i put it all together and its working good. loosened up the slipper a bit to try to avoid this issue again. hitting the snow again tomorrow. Now if i could only figure a way to make some chains for the back wheels, maybe gain a little traction. I'm going to fit skis from my .40 scale plane on to the front. I'll upload pics when i "get er done". (sorry, watching Cars with the kids, Mater is my favorite. Couldn't resist).

Speaking of Mater...anyone know of any 50's Ford truck bodies that'll fit the Slash? I would love to find one and paint it to look like Mater.

I am looking at getting the 4x4 Slash RTR 6808 for Christmas. I have several 3s3300 and 3s3500 lipos for my hurricane and am told they will fit. This will save lots of money on batts. I am not a racer might not be a basher (crasher maybe). Looking to run it around my yard (weeds with a little grass mixed in) down the street and whatever around the house. I have read earlier in this thread that the 2wd doesn't do well in grass I am hoping the 4wd does. Unless someone can tell me this wouldn't be a good truck for casual running maybe more serious bashing as I get used to RC trucks my question is whether the ultimate version with the extra bling optional shocks, swaybars diff and tires is worth the extra 100.00? Sorry about being longwinded, but I don't have time to read the whole thread before Christmas.

Thanks!!

if you're just running around your yard, get the regular 4x4.

So I got the skis on it. in the snow, it turns like its on rails. still have a major traction issue, though, so i'll need to figure that out. I like to tinker, so rather than just go buy a set of sand paddles, i'll either try to make homemade tire chains, or something else. i was just thinking "how cool would it be to have tank tracks out back?"

I built some bigger jumps for the track I run at. We were getting approx 5-6 feet of vertical launch, with about 12-15 feet of distance...trucks were flying all over the place. tons of fun.

however, i bent a shock shaft. driver side rear. rather than rebuild it stock, i was hoping to get a little more performance out of them. I don't want to make the jump to the big bore shocks, one its a hefty price tag, and two i run a stock class, so i need the stock body shocks.

I know RPM makes the valves that allow it to compress slowly, and rebound quickly. any experience with these?

anyone know why the search the forum link is broken?

anywho, chassis conversions on the Slash. I know there are a few companies that make carbon fiber, and aluminum, but didnt i read somewhere that you could do a rustler or stampede chassis? and it lowers the CG?

yup...

the kit comes with the aluminum pieces, you need a Rustler lower chassis, rustler upper, and a battery hold down. the kit is $40, then the rustler parts are like $20 through tower.

I may do this. a few guys got new trucks for xmas, and i got SPANKED today. Came in dead last in the A main.

The A Main was an SC 10, a Blitz, 3 XXX-SCTs and my Slash.

I've already got the big bore shocks, so a proline pro trac really wouldnt do much more for me. i need to be able to turn with these guys. In the straights i am fine, but when i turn they blow right by me.
