Ok, i stand corrected. Just did some research on the Protrac suspension. theres more to it then i thought. longer arms, beefier turnbuckles. negative offset wheels to make up for the longer arms.

so here's my next question...which do you think would get me the most bang for the buck? Lower CG or Proline Pro trac suspension kit? I'll probably wind up doing both eventually, but which one should i do first?

Hey, I am starting to convert my stampede into a slash, and was trying to debate between aluminum bellcranks and the stock plastic bellcranks. I will be going the the Slash 4x4 version bellcranks either way. I was just wondering if the plastic ones are actually pretty strong, or if there has been some durability problems. The aluminum ones are going to be about 3x more money. Thanks

i race my 2wd slash with the plastic bellcrank. through the jumps, bumps, crashes, cartwheels, you name it, knock on wood hasn't given me a problem yet. we had a guy snap his servo today, but the bellcrank is fine.

about the only thing you can gain from going with the upgraded version is precision.

Are you racing with the 2WD bellcracranks, or the 4WDbellcranks?

4wd- more traction. in order to have the same motor, you're talking VXL. the 2wd with the VXL has to be feathered off the line to get traction.

4wd is also heavier which slows down, i would say it would be pretty close

Just picked up some new 17mm wheel adapters, my old ones finally gave up. I ended up going with the Pro-line wheel adapters very good quality. Had a snow run so needed to give the Slash some cleaning to.

What springs are those on your Big Bore shocks? I've been trying to find a good set-up for my slash.

How does the 4x4 slash handle tall grass, my kid wants one and I was wondering how much the tall stuff slows it down, might go stampede for more ground clearance.

Rebuild them if you haven't. I would check the shock shaft to see if they are bent at all.

I fixed to problem by spraying wd40 on all the moving parts. I'm going to get some diffrent shocks soon also.

What's up everyone? I picked up a Slash 4x4 not long ago, and it's great. Absolute blast.

I was wondering though, since (like everyone else...) I like to tinker, what should be the first upgrades that people normally do to these? Thanks, and everyone have a great rest of their day!

alot of people say to do the rpm arms, but i say hold off until you break the stock ones. cant ever go wrong with a good set of wheels and tires though

Hey where did every one go???? lots of good info here, lets keep it going.

Well any way Ive got the Mike Jenkins Slash 2x4, this brang my r/c collection to 12

I cant get enuff of this car, compared to my others it handles like......[X(] But thats what makes it fun, ive smoked 2 stock motors & a yoke fell apart. apart from that its been great. ive since fitted a proline chassis saver & a yeah racing 35a esc & a 3900kv motor on the higher gear setting. heaps good fun but uncontrollable over 1/2 throttle on 7.4v & no kidding on the right surface it pulls wheelies on 11.1v (the ESC fan is soldered into the ESC's BEC) my latest mod was... ive cut the rear shock towers to allow room for the arms to be mounted in the top holes, set the rear camber to -3deg & have put 60g of weights under the ESC. My god talk about a diffrence, power slides are now controllable, & heaps faster take off now. im not joking definatly a noticable differance.

Well just the other day i had a head on crash with a hyper 7 that was going flat out, BANG LOL [:@]
well it shattered the castor block, shered of part of the "A" arm, bent the hell out of the "a" arm pin, snaped the side nerf bar & cracked the rear "A" arm

Well in short ive gone nuts with my tax refund, lots of goodies on there way

hey guys sorry this is my first post on this thread. I am having a pinion/spur gear problem with my Slash. I know this is not enough information but the spur gear and pinion keep eating themselves up! They look like worn out Chinese stars after a day of running. I have tried every distance in a mesh. Very loose, very tight and all the spots in the middle. I use a 14 tooth pinion and the stock spur gear. i Have tried Steel Spur gears and it wears just as fast. I have tried to put washers on the motor mount to make sure the mount is as even as possible. I am going to try and post up some pictures here very soon. Any ideas?
This has probably happen over 20 times =( I am starting to wondering if something in my setup is defective or something.

hummmm, 9 times out of 10 its from incorrent adjustment

How do u set the gear adjustment??? and whats ur setup???? how tight is the slipper clutch????
Check this out

I set mine by sound & fell. never had any problems, but untill u get a feel for it use the method above

Just intill u get the hang of adjusting the gear mesh it might be worth leaving the gear cover off for the first run so u can keep on checking the mesh.

once u have got this problem worker out, spen $10 and get the rpm gear cover the stock cover lets dirt in., dont wast ur time on metal/alloy spur gears

Oh i cant stress get the motor mounts tight & use locktight
