Cross post from Kit Building: Flew the P-26 yesterday. What a great flying plane! Landing on the other hand... Everything goes just fine on the approach, rock solid for the flare, touches down easy and predictable, roll out is fine... until the last 10 ft., the plane is practically stopped and it's about 50-50 whether it flips over! Seems like the wings loses enough lift to keep it level, but with the flaps down still has enough to make the tail light, so the plane will tilt over to one side just enough to touch a wingtip, that's enough to make it tip forward, the wheel pants grab the grass, and with such a short nose there's nothing stopping from going all the way over, even though it's barely moving when it happens. With that said, I've simply learned live with it. I fly off grass and the plane is going SO slow when this happens that I'm not worried about damage. The flaps are on a slider. I may put them on a switch also, so I can pull them up as soon as I touch down.

Hi I have managed to buy a stearman at a bring and buy, it isn't finished. It came with the plan which had protection film on it, the problem I have is when I opened the plan all this white dust fell out. All that was holding it together was the film, if anyone has a copy of the plan I would be more than happy to pay for a copy.

Has anyone started their build on the royal rufe short kit?

Nope but I made the Airfoil a 2415 with 1.5" Pos incidence with 2 degrees washout (Tip is a 4410) and 1.5 degrees positive incidence.
I scaled it to 72' and also an 80" span. The stock kit has awful settings( Thin wings at zero zero everything. Plus no accomadation fpr
retracts without butchering the Leading Edge extension. I conquered that. Do it as a T-6 and USE the main wing spar for the strength.
BTW I have started using Blue Foam for various parts of the Fuse, Stab and Wing. Does anyone have plans for their JU-87D Stuka? I'll more than happy to pay for a copy or the originals. Assuming they are in good shape.

I just discovered the Oscar has a 2 Degree forward rake in the wing.......Retracts will be a lot easier......Much like the T-6.
The Main Spar is essential now. BTW as for the Rufe, get a Shiden Kai and raise the wing to a mid wing and add the Floats and struts.....That was the pre-curser to the "George".

Hi, I just listed my 15 year old Royal P-38 on RCU. It had so many fights I actually wore out the original O.S. .46 SFs and replace with .46 AX and just installed new fuel tanks. I can't ship but I will be at the Georgia Aircraft Modeler's swap meet in Perry GA February 28th and March 1 2014.

Royal (Marutaka) P-38. Kit built not an ARF!
74| wingspan. 13 lbs.
Red YIPPEE color scheme (after the famed 5,000th Lockheed P-38 lightning built).
Newer twin O.S. .46 AXs (replaced the original O.S. .46 SFs).
Futaba servos.
New, freshly plumbed fuel tanks.
Fixed gear, no flaps.
Original owner/builder. 100s of flights! Flys great! Very fast and stable.

Here's my newest P-38 finally getting close to being finished, it's been a long build 10+years! but not all of that was construction, that's my problem! I have the attention span of a puppy in a room full of Tennis balls.

Going to cover with Ultracote chrome and use the Virginia Marie color scheme.
