A buddy of mine has this plane and had questions for me I could not answer.

He went with a Satio 125. According to him he needs to add about 2lbs to the nose. Does that sound correct.

Also what is the CG on this.

wow , 32oz in any book is scary , I am worried about 14oz on my seafury , I just made up 4 with a bigger battery , moved everything i could forward , 32oz is a concern

that is the samething I told him. That is alot of weight he has to add. I did refer him to his site to get info and ideals of what others has done to this plane.

patzane the saito is pretty light, i have 1 1/2 pounds on mine with an OS 120 with pump and it weights in at 12 LBS, so 2 pounds with a saito is about right....
and i set the CG at 95mm from the leading edge of the wing and thats with everything as far forward as possible

good luck and happy flying

Ok , so if the standard is 16 to 24 oz needed for proper cg , then i would still try to move anything you can forward ,
1)build a battery box on the firewall ,
2)use a 1500 battery =4.4oz up to a 4.8vt 2400 battery =8.4oz both will give you longer flight times and its much better then dead weight
3)go to Kalvin wheels or Dave Brown light wheels , the average weight of Robart scale wheels , and others is about 2.4oz for 3.5" wheels and higher ,
you can shave about 2.5 oz in total by going to Kalvin or Dave Brown ,
Hanger 9 wheels dont work , they weigh the same as robart
4)if you can move your servos forward in the fuse even if you have to build a new tray and cut out the old ,
again this is just my advice but I hate to add dead weight

Hey, just out of interest, what gasser engines have people used on their Fw-190?

Has anyone run a 40cc gasser in one?

Thanks

I had to add 7oz in the form of a socket filled with fishing weight lead. Battery and onboard glow unit are mounted to firewall inside fuse.
Saito 150.
rx bat= 4.8 2700mah Nimh
Glow unit uses a 1.5volt 1500mah c type NiCd cell
Fuel tank is 20 oz for extended flight times although this makes the 190 slightly nose heavy for the first 10 mins of flight.

I've read that folks have used G26's. This is a great motor as weight would otherwise need to be added to the nose to balance her.

Anybody know where I can get a decent pilot bust that fits the 190 ? Mine is too large.

I used the Hangar 9 bust...I can't remember if it was 1/5or 1/6th scale...See earlier posts on this same thread to see how it looks.

Good luck!

Yes, I do...I'd be happy to do one for you if you'd like. I'm unemployed at the moment, so I can do it in no time.
I thought my pilot looked a little oversized, but the 1/6th looked a bit small.
Lemme' know~

Hey Guy's

Without seeing them, i would go for the 1/6 scale one seeing as this Fw-190 is 1/6 scale! The real pilots looked kinda small in the Fw's office

Thanks

Bummer,, hate to hear that. I won't comment on the St2300,,, makes some folks mad when you bash them. I do think I'll stick to 4 strokes and gassers on my warbirds though.
I haven't had a problem with the tail section so far (knock on wood.) I did use tri-stock at the fuse when building it. Cheap insurance.

What's your next bird gonna be Ken ?

I think I will build the jug! p-47 also just got YS 110 fz supercharged!!
fw- 190's still rock!

To who that dont already know!
I was told that you can get 3m
package tape and cover all hinged
areas to help from high speed flutter??
and its fuel proof.

thanks ken

I use monocote , even on the tightest lines, learned when I lost my F14 prop jet to flutter

did you fold in the areas so the surface can move up and down
free ??and all it does is to keep air from going threw
the alerions and elv,???

is this correct?????

I know you weren't asking me, but that is correct.
Crease the monocoat right at the hinge line, and apply to both the top and bottom sides if you wish.
Prevent air from passing through the hingeline.
I often use a thin strip of clear packing tape as it's concealed in the joint, but it's a bear to tangle with.
