I used the screws as recommended (I don't want to glue them on because of access to the Robarts). The screws are holding okay so far but I'm worried about the overall durability of the thin fiberglass.

I think what may help the thin fiberglass and prevent engine vibration from wallowing out the screws through the holes is to use some rubber washers under the screws, I do this for cowls mounted the same way, it stops this from happening.

Hoping none of us have to get into the Robart gear.
I too did not like the screw method either.
Time will tell.

Ditto on the rubber washer idea. It works to protect the fiberglass.

A couple of well placed dabs of Silicon would do the trick. Then if needed slide a hobby blade through the dabs and off it comes. Kevin.

I have the Yellow P40, but had the same issue that you guys have here. I think the Silicon would do the job alone. If I was going to use scews I would cut small squares of AC ply cut the skin of the wing for them to be glued in then the gear covers down to the ply. If you are worried about the Plastic of the covers tearing with the screws over time then I would silicon them down so you could remove them if needed. I doubt very seriously the piece would come off with the Silicon holding it. Maybe if you had to belly land and got into them but that would be better than getting the screws ripped out. Take care. Kevin.

I'm going to use clear silicone to attach the gear covers on mine. Far less work then poking holes/CAing/screwing and I'm confident the silicone will hold better too.

Capt G - What did you use for your panel lines? I started drawing mine with a thin permanent Sharpie marker, but I'm open to other ideas.
Thanks
