Ty great job , I am in and looking forward to the availability .
Also you could get $1.00 pilots at Dollar Tree , then you either mod them on your own or cut the bod in half and add better top half from scale companys .
The bluebox guys avg $25 to $75 on ebay , and they come in at a whopping 8oz , I used one on my Fw190 , I made the body of blue foam , got the weight down to 3oz , but its an expensive bash for just come head , hands , feet and outfit

If you are looking for low cost Luftwaffe pilots and don't want to invest in a full figure I would suggest just buying individual parts off of ebay. Here are a few links to sellers who sell Luftwaffe life preservers (usually under a couple bucks) , flight helmets etc. Since the bodies are too heavy as noted already you can even buy hands and heads seperately. Most all Luftwaffe uniform types from fighter to bomber pilots are now available . Both inflatable and Kapok style life preservers are also available. The Kapok type were used earlier during the Battle of Britain. Both back style and seat style parachutes are also available. Another site that sells components is called "Monkey Depot" . If anyone is interested in some scale dimensions for the Me-109 landing gear. I had asked a friend who is the Museum curator in the Central air museum in Finland if he could take some dimensions for me back in 1993. He has a beautifully restored Me-109 G6 in his Museums collection. Here are the pics with dimension on the struts. Numbers on the left are in Centimeters and the ink dimensions are the 1/5 equivalent in Millimeters. Tero T in Toronto

The Slimline Inverted Pitts for Thunder Tiger 120 will fit. No modifications needed. Ik know for I use the OS 120 AX myself with that muffler.

Hi all!
My BF109 is on the way to completion. Thanks to all of you for the useful info I found in this thread.

On my BF I had an issue I would like to discuss: the wing did not perfectly fit on the fuse, it did not "comfortably" sit on the saddle leaving a huge gap. And... I had lots of trouble to achieve a good stab-wing allignment, the were not parallel at all!
So, I added a spacer on the rignt saddle to allign the wing with the stab and filld the gap with microballons and resin, just like a full-build.
I will post some pics tomorrow.

Did any of you experience the same?

Mine was an early production. i did not have this problem.

With the V-stab straight up at 90 degrees was the wing off or the H-stabs?? Which one was true to the V-stab?

Hi Seve,

stab and fin are perfectly 90°, but when I placed the wing on the fuse, at fist sight fit was very poor.
I had about 0.17" gap between the right saddle and right wing and about 0.1" on the left to put wing and stab paralled. I'll post you some pictures.

Don't know how early series was, but my BF has many issues to fix and tons of work to do on it. This is the secong big issue I fixed. The first one was a wrong assembly of the left wing airbrake servo hatch. I had to cut, and rebuild, unfortunately I took no pictures to show you.

My latest ARF before the CMP BF109 was a GP Superskybolt: sorry to say it, but quality of a Great Planes is definitely another story.

A couple of the servo hatches on the wings were designed to fit with the opening for the servo arm placed so both surfaces on either side of the wing would move together without the need to use a servo reversing y-harness or a mix in the radio. Just a simple y-harness.
The manual shows this and the "correct" placement of which servo hatch goes where. Now, that doesnt mean you cant modifiy it as you did, but just pointing out its not a bug. It was supposed to be that way.

[size=3]I received the Ty made cockpits which are excellent and reviewed his instructions on Youtube. That will probably save you 5 hours by doing this. Since I am building a G-2 model and the instrument panel is a little different I am choosing to use a plain photo for the instrument panel. I searched the web and found one site with a perfect face on shot of a Me-109 G model instrument panel .Found it at site below. I chose the higher meg file and loaded the printer with gloss photo paper. I printed the pic with an hieght of 8.5 centimeters and it matches Ty's panel bang on . Just another option for you. For those interested in custom pilots here is some information on one that I completed this evening. It took under two hours to fabricate and it will give you a strong light weight body that you can hang any 1/6 scale uniforms on. The CMP Me-109 measures in at approx 1/5.4 scale. A 12 inch 1/6 pilot would be about a 5'6" pilot in this plane which is a reasonable height for a WWII pilot. Now a 1/6 action figure body without head and hands weighs in at 4.2 oz and fully dressed 8 oz which is alot of weight to be hauling around .
I took a figure body and traced the torso in front and side views on 1/32 ply. With a small hot wire cutter I formed the torso out of pink foam and rounded the edges on a belt sander. I purchased some bendable straws from a dollar store and "borrowed" some of my sons NERF darts. The bendable straws slide snug right inside the nerf dart shafts. Using the original action figure to determine lengths of leg and arm components, within a few minutes all the parts are made. Using a hot glue gun with a few drops on the straws inserted into the Nerf shafts and the body is done. Why I went this route was that I wanted some rigidity to the figure and very light,and yet have joints that roughly mimic the original action figure. The weight of this body is .2 oz a full 4 oz lighter than the original body. I hot melt glued the head and hands on . No feet are required as the legs tuck in nicely into the boots. All the individual components for this pilots uniform were purchased off of EBAY. Even pilot collar insignia that can be ironed on are available from EBAY. This pilot I have customized to be a Finnish Chief warrant officer as my CMP ME-109 will be in Finnish colours. A small project but might be of interest to someone. Tero T in Toronto

Please note the cockpit panel you have there isn't a G-2. Its a G-6.

Hi Evil!
You are right the photo of the panel is a G-6 . My plane will be in Finn markings and they flew both G-2's and 6's so I will have to fabricate the bumps and some other small changes if I do the switch. Straight on G-2 panel pics are hard to come by. I have been combing the computer graphics for flight sims to see if there are any G-2's. I know a German site has the various instrument profiles with pics of actual instruments. Possibly could photoshop the individual pics in. Or just go with the G6 panel . I would say 99% of the aviation population at my field would not know a G6 panel from a G2. For what its worth. Thx Tero T
