RE: Jack Stafford Twin Comanche??

Same here :) I did go through the box and found a good quality kit inside. And delivery was fast (just a few days to Europe).

By the way: Century Jet sell a custom retract set...

RE: Lost an Engine (and Lived to Tell About It)

Sounds like a good approach to me. I have a very nice Jack Stafford Twin Comanche sitting in a box on a cupboard somewhere, but I think I'll get a Twinstar as well to learn, even though it's a yucky...

Advice on Do335 Twin glow conversion.

I'm currently planning to build Al Masters' Dornier Do335. This is a twin engine aircraft in a push/pull setup, with flaps and retracts (necessary because of the long landing gear legs). The design...

RE: Which 4 Stroke for a Bridi Tigercat?

Can't beat Saito for weight; I've just selected the Saito 30S as the rear engine in my Do335. Weight reduction in the tail of this model is critical. For retracts, you could check...

RE: Jack Stafford Twin Commanche Build 2005

Christian, did you pick up the retracts? I'd still ike to see what they look like.

This winter I probably won't get around to getting my Comanche going, time & money wise. There's another twin...

RE: Jack Stafford Twin Commanche Build 2005

Looking good Steve! Made me want to get started on mine. Can you post pics of the Century retracts as well? I'm thinking of ordering a set soon.

Thanks for the tip, Terry. $35 for a set of...

RE: Jack Stafford Twin Commanche Build 2005

Thanks for the info on the Century retracts!!! I'm building this plane also (well, I have the box sitting on a cupboard :D), and luckily I haven't ordered retracts for it yet. What did you get from...

RE: Dornier DO335 + Retract gear

Ahh yes, "sold separately" :( Well I'll just go with the 58" Al Masters version (with Spring air gear, which I just ordered).

RE: Dornier DO335 + Retract gear

Wow that PCM kit looks nice! Thanks for the link... $1000 actually isn't that much for a kit of that scale, considering it includes Robart gear.

RE: Alumimun for skinning

For a cheap but somewhat more labor-intensive finish, you can use the thin aluminium tape used on alu air ducts and such. Will go over compound curved surfaces (up to a point), and you get panels...

RE: Suitable punishment for BS?

Punish him?

Ohh yes.

If it's a decent plane and you're willing to drop a few $$$ on getting revenge... buy the same model! Keep it in your car under a tarp, then when mr. braggard...

RE: Working cowl flaps.

On the other hand, solving such mechanical challenges is what makes building fun! I say go for it, it'd be pretty cool to have these flaps actually work.

RE: While watching Tiger Woods win !!!

Wow, quite a bit of luck that the fire was contained! I've seen some nice pics of a guy coming home to a burn mark in the carpet, with a molten puddle of what used to be an electric heli... but at...

RE: Is a Cub a Cub if it's not cub yellow?

If I win the lottery, I'll get myself a full scale cub and have it repainted in 'Hello Kitty' livery, just to put paid to the purists in this thread :D

RE: Stupid stunt pilot video

Litigious, yes, if you lot just get rid of 'punitive damages' you'd do fine though. But foam-padded? Hardly... In many respects Europe, and the Benelux in particular, have a lot more regulations...

RE: Is JetJoe likely to be dangerous ?

The real issue to me seems: if JJ makes a wheel with a sacrificial ring, then balanced them by grinding off material from the structural part of the wheel, is that indicative of their engineering...

RE: Is JetJoe likely to be dangerous ?

But if the engine costs them $2200 (which buys you a Wren, I think), they will suddenly decide that PCM and high-end servos are the way to go? Come on... I've seen people put cheap servos on large...

RE: Safety concerns with cheap turbines

I don't think we'll have to worry about that too much; I don't see many of these 'guys' flying and crashing cheap but difficult to fly ARF warbirds either. Most people know their limits and don't...

RE: Safety concerns with cheap turbines

Anything that JJ owners or prospective buyers should be aware of? We wouldn't want ET's JJ to blow up in his face now would we. [X(] But seriously, why not list these problems here, so that we can...

RE: Safety concerns with cheap turbines

That doesn't really have anything to do with JJ... you could replace 'Jetjoe' in the above with 'Wren' if they'd happen to have a sale on their turbines. Rather say 'cheap turbines' instead.

RE: Fuel Bulkheads

I've used both methods. When using brass tubes, I make a small access hatch just behind the firewall, which allows me to slip the fuel line onto the tubes. I often make a few hatches in my...

RE: Mini_Me

Nice job! It's kind of cool to have yourself in the pilot's seat :) This is a little like drawing portraits... everone is convinced they stink at it. Until they just go ahead and try it.
