I'm not an engineer, so I could be way off base here, but it seems to me that while the steel is much tougher than the aluminum, the forces applied to the gears during the rotation aren't that great...

EMS Skyraider with a power 160 electric and a MAS 15.5x12 4 blade, Radar gun clocked it at 105mph. It's certainly not lacking in performance

Here's the pictures you asked for. The prop is a Master Airscrew 15.5 x 8. It was the biggest 4 blade I could find without getting into the high dollar blades
