Futaba a500 Servo Settings

After some guidance / calibration. I put an a500 as rudder servo in Interceptor F3A model (tail mounted servo, direct ball bearing link). Problem is it would not stop hunting around center. ...

I had to change the bearings in my Extreme Flight Silver Bullet (very similar to Pletty 30-10) and I found it a bit different and confusing - had to read all the above a few times. Here is what I...

RE: Curare 60 - Build

I recently built from the Eureka Aircraft short kit. Overall a good way to go now the MK kits have all been spoken for. Given you have a bit of building experience, grab the parts listing /...

RE: Hacker Q 80

Hi All,

Just to be certain - how far in to the rear of the motor does the shaft go? I assume it is only the 5 - 10mm of the rear bearing, and sits well short of the grub screw locking the...

RE: Another Impact bites the dust

Brian,

Very sorry to hear No. 2 went in with such a catastrophic failure. I remember what it feels like from Flight 19 of my No 1 last year and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

While there...

RE: 2005 F3A World Championships

Beyond JAS, anyone got a simple summary of who of the leading bunch are flying electric versus glow?

RE: Impact

On my second Impact I have gone the bevel on both sides approach using the rudder that came with it (rather than building balsa or foam one at this stage). I took the leading edge off the rudder...

RE: OXAI new IMPRESSION

I am not sure which other models have gone this way, but the forward canopy and 'tall' fuz down to the fin are very similar to the Oxalys (other than the angled rudder hinge line and anhedral stab it...

OS 140 and Carbon Pipe

I am looking to replace the old Aluminium/Hatori pipe for an OS140.

I have looked at the Aeroslave and ES Composites offerings -- but unsure how to assess which one to choose and other...

RE: Excelleron 50 Electric

Hi Troy,

Usually at Doncaster on Sunday pm and sometimes Croydon (Yarra Glen) on Saturday am. Won't be this weekend as we have the State pattern champs in Bendigo. Send me a pm and we can...

RE: Excelleron 50 Electric

And after all of that I flew it again last weekend (nervously hoping it wan't going to trip. and the motor would stay in) and it is awesome. I have taken the prop back to a 12 x 7 to avoid too much...

RE: Excelleron 50 Electric

I struggled with the motor mount for a while (meaning I replaced it and it came straight out again, then did it again so it didn't come out, and it delaminated the ply plate it was screwed to!)

...

RE: Excelleron 50 Electric

So the build was fairly simple, and I confirm this is at the high end of quality for an ARF.

I did a few ground run-up tests to make sure it was all going to stay together, and off to test...

RE: Excelleron 50 Electric

As a starting point I went for the Electronic Model Twister 60 outrunner and 40 Amp speed controller. On paper this should put a 13 x 6 at close to 10,000 rpm on 6s1p 3,100 cells -- ample for a 50...

RE: Excelleron 50 Electric

First to the insides and control linkages. It comes with 'standard' small model approach of a single servo tray with the two servos side by side and pushrod with 'V' split at the back for the...

Excelleron 50 Electric

There has been plenty of discussion of the Excelleron 90 on this forum, but I have found very little on the smaller 50 sized model. I wanted a smaller pattern model for the local field and thought I...

RE: Composite ARF Impact problems?

A couple of thoughts:

-- I don't know about Dauphin's, but for the compression style failure in 'toysejr' pictures above one aproach is to put in on a fuz jig to straighten it out and push the...

RE: EXCELLERON - BROKEN MANIFOLD DUE TO SOFT MOUNT

Mike,

You are having a rough trot with the Excelleron -- it shouldn't be this hard. Whilst I didn't end up using the provided soft mount on my Excelleron (it didn't suit the electirc beast),...

RE: Dead Zafiro

miniCap,

That is a great job -- isn't it good how you get from a 'towel job' wreck you are thinking about throwing away to an almost perfect model.

Did you take any weights to see how much...

RE: Impact

Jim/Andy etal.

In defence of C-ARF I have built a few pattern planes from other manufacturers and in all cases I am very glad I have gone back to first principles and established my own datum...

RE: Impact

Couldn't agree more on visbility -- flame red would work well, dark blue stripes underneath give a good contrast to the yellow and also work well. The pre-painted scheme on the top of the wings also...

RE: adding a safety switch to an ESC

. . agreed. And if you don't like or can't run the wires externally for a Deans, you can put a female deans into the positive power wire to the ESC, fix it so it protrudes through the side or the...

RE: New!OTOP Xtreme Composite Pattern Plane

Thanks

I also noted from the other thread on OTOPS (after posting on this one!) that these were better reinforced down the rear end than the Impacts anyway -- which is good news. It is great to...

RE: New!OTOP Xtreme Composite Pattern Plane

Composite built model out of Thailand, failure just in front of the tail, from photos construction/moulding looks very Impact like, wing adjusters but no other brace other than the pipe floor,...

Very nice work Eric -- I too hope the problems are licked.

BTW -- are those mounts your elevator servo is on readily available? I keep cutting up aluminium angle to make brackets -- but those...
