Ed's first voyage was a success! Here are some pics and links to the outing. At least one of us is on the water!

She didn't run quiet as good as I wanted her to but she ran! Needs a lot of adjustments. George, this weekend i'm going to put on that carb you sent me and see what that does. I was looking at the stinger drive and I noticed I tightened it up were the the drive was angled down. so I will fix that. And the rudder system I don't know if there is any hope for that but it turns sharper right than left, huh what do you do. need to work on getting my radio box sealed, I noticed it had a few leaks coming in from some were. Do you guys think the trim tabs that i bought will make a difference? There the same ones on Martin's old woody build. And I deffinetly have to figure out a exshaut sytem because of right now it blows stray towards the front of the boat I haven't had time to look at the link you sent me George about the exshaust mod but i'll look intoit when I get the chance. Oh and Mart, those boat your making look super cool, yah its a shame pricing is a lot to the U.S.

Here she is so far

We found out she is sea worthy in the pool

Congrats on your first run looks like a success now the fun starts, trying to get her upto speed .First ditch the carb for a wa167 walbro that will liven her up a lot, then play with prop angle depth etc.You should be able to take the cannister off and turn it round so the exhaust is facing backwards thats how i did mine .As for the tabs to be honest unless shes veering right a lot it leave them off, although turn fins will def help turns.Did you offset the drive to the right to overcome prop walk? that would help and also improve left turns too,you can also shim the drive over a tad so its angled left as you look from the back to counter any prop walk etc. Also make sure your prop is sharp and balanced it really does make a big difference .
Mart
PS thanks for the compliments,if you want one of my boats you could allways come pick her up for what hemi quoted lolollol [X(]

Hey guys i am trying to get the new carb on and actually run proper. The intake needs to be honed out but i am not quite sure how to all i have is files and that is taking forever i just don't want to overdue it. Is there a scientific way to get it done? It revs ok with the intake not quite as big as the carb inlet but i know it has more potential.[>:]

1. Im back! [X(]
2. anyone got some good pics of their engine mounts from a weedy for this size boat? i have some rubber bushings just dont like my mounts enough to go through with them.
3. How do you go about getting that position the motor should be mounted in. can anyone give me a link or some detailed instructions on how to do it.
4. any bumps on the honing out of the intake for a stock weedy 8mm to go to the 11mm walbro carb?

Thanks guys great to be back by the way!

Leave the intake alone just open up the black isolator block a bit,as for mounts no pics sorry !!.mount the motor as low as possible the engle isnt that important just bend your tube to match the angle you mount it at.When you decide shes not fast enough buy a nice zen 260 ,you might even get a used one off someone.

Im starting the L and H at 1 1/2 turns out, won't even keep an idle. not at 1/2 turn, 3/4, 1, 1 1/4, 1 1/2. just don't know[:@] And I noticed there is fuel leeking from the bottom somwere near the carb or on the carb? I checked the diaphram its not ripped, but the metal circle turns, should it? well I put another diphram on still same thing, so i switched it back. I can not find the specs on this carb for what size it is. could it be to big? I'm frazeled Oh, and when I check my plug after running for 5-10 seconds and it's wet still has spark but wet, is that ok? Does ANYBODY know what is going on?????? AND HOW TO FIX???PLEASE HELP

Hi mate im not familiar with that carb all i know is the wa 167 is the best carb for a weedy motor its has a 11mm bore, what bore is that one? if its more than 11-12 mm it might be too big.The leak could be a bad seal where the carb meets the isolator block(black plastic thing).Try the needles at 1 on low 1 1/2 on high and tune from there on the high one leave low at that for now it should start at that setting and run.

What about the really wet spark plug though? I guess how wet should the spark plug be?

Its hard to say as you only ran it for a few seconds so the fuel won t have brunt off from your intitial priming most likeley ,11.11 bore shouldnt be a problem, have you checked the diaprham is on the right way round ?.Im no mechanic ,maybe someone else can help you more sorry mate.

It'll be impossible to hold a tune or idle if your leaking fuel from carb, most likely a bad gasket/iso block, resolve that issue first,.... [8D]

if your shaft doesn't break within a couple tanks of running, that would be fine, where did you get that size of brass tube from? mines is 5/16".

well i went to the store today and exchanged the brass tube for 1/4" shaft fits nicely in there now just enough room for some grease. I bought most of my things from ACE hardware because they are one of the only places around that have a military discount which helps just enough! I made my motor mounts today and they look great, the motor will sit really low in the boat almost right on the bottom of the engine but with clearance. Tonight I would like to work on mounting the flex shaft tube. I would like to mount the engine but i dont have any of the strut, rudder, prop and radio box incorpirated yet so i cant get the 30% distribution. Havent taken many pics of what i have done because well im working [>:] hope you all are enjoying this as much as i am!

glad to hear that you found a correct size brass tube for the shaft. you're doing a great job on your mono's building, that's kind of fun.

OK can't the the WT443 carb to work, its leaking fuel from the bottum somewhere. But I did get the other carb that george sent me a while beck to run great!! how much diff do you think that 9.53mm carb will be? I take a look at the other carb later.

After I turned my can exshaust around now it blows into my engine[X(] so I am going to put some straight pipes running right out of the can. What size do you think the pipe should be so I don't stand a chance of to much back pressure?

One more thing, Found out that my paint isn't gas proof LOL. Does anyone know a kind of rattle spray that is gas resistant that I can get here in the states?

try any car paints they should be fuel proof or get some clear coat from a car shop and coat your existing paint with it.as for outlet pipes just make em same size as existing outlet or a tad bigger.

9.53 mm of the bore is a bit too small for a marine engine, go get a 15.44 mm big bore 257 carb, it'd only cost $26 from fleabay.

Hes only running a weedy engine a big bore carb like a 257 would not work with it,the best one is the walbro WA 167 11+mm bore.

hey everyone, just been working on a let's say...different type of exhaust. It works actually really good, and pretty quiet. A lot quieter than the can. 3/8" stainless steel pipe, with just some plumbing couplings, and the internal part of the can. I really don't know how is gonna do on water, but the engine still has quick pick up. only time will tell
