I just have to say a big thanks to all the pilots who flew at Sandown - and made my weekend much easier and very enjoyable. Some really fantastic flying. Had to shout at Choppy lots, but that's par for the course

Of course Ali stole the show, flying those huge models at Sandown takes some real skill - that Tote board doesn't half look big, especially when you have to fly that bit further out. Extremely impressive seeing that big Cap doing torque rolls just 20m infont of you - fantastic, and harrier landings onto the boards .

It's got me eager to start my C140 again Got a NIB YS140 for it, but after talking to a few people over the weekend I am really tempted to go electric. I have a little while to decide though.... and by then I have no doubt technology will have improved again.

a quote from alan greenfield junior.

" everyone knows that the internet is a very powerful tool that should only be used for surfing porn and online shopping, i dont use internet forums.
i have not flown the groove and have no opinion on what it looks like.
dave stephens has flown it, he says its good and it probably is "

hello,

well, sandown, wernt too impressed, i though it was going to be huge stands and lots of different displays, but then i guess it is a TRADE show not a display. Anyways, i saw you all there but i didnt talk. I talked to Ultimate. Some very good flying tho there, very impressed by the YT formula 3D. verrry nicely flown. Ali's Cap was cool aswell, tho wen it wnet really low the stuped commentater truck was in the way[:@].

Well, as i said i bought myself a blade. i built it in about 4 hours. I also bought myself one of these wind yourself motors, as wot Simon said. Mine ways the quoted 20g and apparently on a 2s lipoly it has 320g of thrust! so i bought myself a 3s 340 kokam I also got a model motors 12A ESC, prodigy charger, gws rx and 3 4.4g servos, one word amazing! at the moment it weighs 154g w/o esc or cells

here it is, and my motors winds

Cabane, you may be thinking of Nigel who did a great job helping me out along with quite a few others, some also on RCU. I gave you your flight test on the Friday and did the flight briefing meeting.

Glad you enjoyed it.

cabane,
you tried to smooth that over a bit quick! don't think it had the desired effect though there is a time and a place for sarcasm and its called college!

tel the chop Stephens said he's a naughty boy!

Just for the record, i love the Groove and was most upset when i had to give it back on Sunday afternoon. I was looking forward to flying it more as it was about 2 inches nose heavy and as i only test flew it on the Friday on the way to Sandown and i had another 4 toys to prepair so i did not have time to remove the battery from the front and put it at the rear of the wing area.

Why no opinion on its looks?

You saw as much of it as The Boy, me and the rest of the display pilots []

The comments where aimed at looks not flying abilities!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eddie. Looks like a good choice, let us know how that motor went together and how it flys on the Boys Little Toys thread.

I was gonna buy one myself, but could only get within 10 feet of the ANSA stand on Saturday!

IMHO you really dont want to put a horrible heavy petrol in this plane. It could ruin it.

yup! zenoha= underpowered+weight.

Simon, im doing a review of it. Ill find a site to post it on, both the motor and the build. looks very promising to fly apart from the tail is on a slight wonk so i may need a wee bit of elevator-->aileron mix on some things. hope not, im trying to ammend it. I see wot you mean about the ansa stall. I got into the hall about 9:20 and i went their strait away, flashed the cash and walked away with a bit lump of foam. well worth it tho. even at that early time i had to use my weight to get to the front of the ansa queue-ish thing. im going to order some deans connecters of overlander (the black ones, not the red, weigh 5g so im not worried) and some silicon cable. what do you think bout the parkflyer silicone cable stuff????? i did have some conecters i got at sandown but they fell out of my bloody box when i couldnt close it as it was so full! still, he gave them to me for free so i aint complaining.

Also, do you recomend som tri-section around the tail between the vertical and horizontal bits of the fuz to give it a bit of strength, mine seems quite bendy

C140 + petrol...[sm=thumbdown.gif]

EP or Glo [sm=thumbup.gif]

Finally got to watch the EP 140 go for about a minute over the weekend.... LLLLOOVEELY.. panicked the Boy a bit as he came across us and noticed me watching the model - he thought I had taken my eyes of my own model... well I had, but it had been left sat on the runway for a while whilst I enjoyed the 140 ! Before long I remembered why I was there and what I was supposed to be doing, and got my head out of spectator mode and back into pilot mode.

I flew like a total pansy but dont put all this down to my talent or lack of it.... I really struggled to concentrate and feel confident with the Ion X thumping around everywhere like Tigger. The first 2 mins of one of the slots where Dave and I were on our own was nice, calm, effective, and quiet.... then something started to wind up and the serenity and performance (at least mine) shattered..

Still I brought it back in one piece so I can try some different set ups and get used to it... Shed loads of power available though.....

Thanks Guys, So really, a YS140 is the engine to go for, that's cleared that one up!

OK i'm sold on the idea, just got to go through and see what bits i need uprated or prettier , then i'll dive in!!

I just quit smoking 6 days ago, so need something with a bit of work in it!!

Anyone know if Carbon copy are there full time? any chance of a drive and collect rather than trusting Parcelfarce??

oh, so many questions!!

Well done guys sharing a slot with the mad helicopter.. I got a photo where there appears to be little daylight between Capiche and Heli!!

Regards,

Steve

Steve.

Stewart and Jim are always in the "office".

Go see them anytime but a quick phone first so they can expect you is a good idea.

I quit seven years ago. The first two weeks are the hardest[:@]

If you cheat you might as well call it day one again!!!!!

Once I was passed three weeks with absolutely no ni co teen I was clean.

Best bit is I save 90 quid a week and the house is much cleaner.

Good luck with the non smoking and the 140

I agree, they were all first class.......Luke 3D and Ultimate were the only new boys on the team this year and they fitted right in no worries...

A standard has been set I think...now give the 140 a year of establishment like the 50 and what kind of show can we expect next year !?

Oh my head hurts !.....[:@]

Been following this for a while. On your site there is no price, or i'm just blind! Can someone please send me a price for the base kit (140), or post the link to the prices on the site.

Thanks

Andy

you too can hire Carters as your PR man for just £99.99 a day, thats right, just £99.99

lots of .'s everywhere but i think i get the idea[&:]

Jimbo, bad pic, mines hidden, tho you can make out me standing at the back wearing shades

YAY!!!!! i didn't get eddied

Dave, glad you just said the CofG was forwards, was wondering about that downline into wall, oooh errr i mean arc into harrier was all about.. but thats for the Groove thread.

Ali was great, almost lost the rudder on a wall
Dave and Ali together, fantastic!
Greg with his Spin Doctor, i'm inspired.
Bob and his helis, man what a Hornet can do, almost lost every heli every flight into the car park.
Ali and the Turbine heli, sad thing, heard the "POOF" saw the bits come down, that must have hurt, but great flights with the eurofighter.

Think we could do with a "Sandown" thread really to discuss what we all thought of it.
personaly i thought the amount of stuff for sale there sucked...
think i'll start a thread.
