the ys engines will deliver no matter the attitude either. their tank is pressurized to about 9 lbs. you cant take the fuel cap of while it is pressurized or it sprays everywhere.

I know, my ys .63 is so cool, it's like a dump valve when I land and take the silencer tube off. But then I have heard of peoples having problems still with the 1.40's.

But you need to de pressurise the tank before you fill the tank up again?[8D]

Hacker C50XL richard? thats the one! honest, how can you actually contimplate going YS when you can get a lecy setup for 300 quid more and never have to pay fuel. at 30 quid a gallon for good YS fuel youd use a gallon in 2 weeks, if not less......so, in 20 weeks, youll have paid the extra 300 off, then if you need to replace your lipos at 400 quid, youll pay that off pretty quick aswell, IC makes no sence any more to me......if i didnt already have the motor for my C50 id go leccy on that.......

Considering converting mine every time the motor starts to hunt in the mid range

Never had that on a YS before. Anyone shed some light?

Its fine on the deck but airborne at about 1\3rd stick just when I have it settled on a nice high alpha knife edge it starts to worry me.

electric is great, can't see IC carrying on in the smaller sector for much longer. We're getting lighter and more powerful planes, plus you get perfect throttle response no matter what g you're pulling or attitude you're in.

but the electric ones sound like mosquitos buzzing in your ear! i like the slow tick and the powerful grunt of the gassers.
Baron, it sounds like your regulator might be a little rich. try leaning it out about 1/16 turn and see if that helps.

i agree on that clam, IC does sound nice but thats not a priority for most people. I dont think leccy will take over from big petrol for a while, petrol is just so cheep compared to glow but for 140 and smaller i think it will eventually

baron,i had the same problem with my 91 i know this is gonna sound silly but some days it was ok then hunting on the next,i tried everything you name it,and it was ok on the ground but as soon as i was flying and it warmed up away it went.turned out to be the bearings causing problem, they were just starting to wear and causing resistance which made it hunt, crazy i know but cured the problem.

Gas!? You cant get a CO2 motor THAT big! And theres no throttle! [X(]

Petrol too big for this, although a Mackay 30 would be an option but too heavy.

Irvine 150 seems like a nice budget choice, I have experience with these engines as those the only brand I have

Electric-No CoG change and cheap to run, sure you'd need to replace batts but who cares

Saito-Nice fourstroker, after the inital cost fuel is as cheap as the Irvine, and maybe less fuel as well.

But this is just CONSIDERING! I am a long way off but it seems like a nice plane, I can see how they will perform tomorrow as well which will be good.

Yeah I knew what you meant! Actually there are R/C CO2 motors....

YS 140 WOULD be nice but I cant afford the fuel costs let alone the engine, and I cant help but think that alot of its power comes from 25% fuel.....

So I wouldnt mind a nice two stroke like and Irvine or Moki, if its 4 stroke its Saito

most of it's power comes from the fact that it is a superior design. you can get mega power out of it by using 20/20.

how long does it take to fill the tank in a 140 IC compared to charge time for a electric hey, and if you want two packs?? £££££

thats the real difference

but i wouldnt really fly a flight an hour with IC, and with bigger planes you tend to fly less

in which case you wont use nearly as much fuel and it is much more affordable and you still get that wonderful deep four stroke sound as opposed to that little mosquito sound. you also get to use props that look much more appropriate sizewise and you dont need the longer gear. i would reccomend electic for a lot of things but not for something like this.

even though the engine pressurises it you still need to de pressurise the tank berfore you refuel[]

space clam, at the top of the compettion, the power is more important than sound. I'd rather have an electric than a IC motor when the electric I believe is now better than IC. My plane is lighter than equivalent IC powered planes, but still more powerful. My plane also flies better now it is lighter. This I see is more important than the noise it makes. With the extra packs, I think a pack last 300 flights, so thats about £1.26 a flight, whereas with YS motor's it's more like £3 a flight. But with the lecy packs you can swap them between planes, like I'm going to do with my Smaragd and Cap140.
But for fun, I still like the nice sound of the four strokes, this can't be beaten.
