HS5925 or JR8231
Which one would you prefer to use and why?
I'm going to put in H9 330 ailerons (2/ailerons).
Thanks for yours comments

Go with the 5945, not the 5925. The 45 is very fast on 6V and a ton of torque. I put one on the rudder of a 1/4 scale Giles 202 to test it out and I have been very impressed. I subsequently bought 6 for my 1/3 H9 Cap 232. Great servo.

isilfa,
You might want to consider the HS-5625 and/or the HS-5645 digital servos. They are not coreless like the HS-5900s but they have some very decent stats and should easily handle your 3rd-scale:

mako,
The specs come from Tower Hobbies and are the current, updated specs that have yet to be published at Servo City or, for that matter, Hitec. I purchased (4) 5625s and (1) 5645 for my H9 1/4-scale Cap 232. The new specs are on the boxes, labels applied over the old specs. With the new specs they are the most cost effective digital servos in existance. I went the whole gambit and also bought the Hitec Servo Programmer. The (5) digital servos and programmer ran me $421.00 at J&C Hobbies.
The programmer not only programs Hitec digital servos but also checks any brand of servo with a Manual test and Auto scan. Plus it will check the Pulse width and Voltage. Checks the transmitter signal pulse as well.

You can find the specs here:
http://www.hitecrcd.com/Catalog/Air/aircraft.html
I buddy of mine has a mix of 5645's (aileron's, elevator) and 5945 (rudder) on a 29% Edge. the 5645's are noticably slower finding zero. Meaning when you give control, the 5645 moves fast until it gets close to the proportional deflection then it slows. Where as the 5900 seem to move fast and more consistently.
I know these are programmable servos (deadband, center point, etc), but we believe that is not the problem. He wishes he spent the extra $20/servo and got 5945's all the way around.
BTW - The 5945's are faster than my 8 JR 8411's (and quieter -- and cheaper)!!!!
Just an observation...

Sukhoi,.
Why do you hate Hitec so much? They work great and I have seen them in a few 30-40% aircrafts. I have a few digitals and they work flawlessly.
I would like to know your experiences with Hitec since you refer to them as garbage.
BTW, the TOC guys are sponsored and will only use the sponsored products even if there are better products out there.

Sukhoi...... What gives
I have had nothing but great service from my HITEC servos, both analog and digital. From most posts that I read everyone loves the digitals and MOST will agree that only the sponsored guys are getting JR and FUTABA anymore.
If you have a specific reason for hating HITEC please post it so other can learn from you experience. If not don't blame dumb thumbs on the servos.
MAKO
I have 5625's in my 1/4 CAP 231 EX and they have performed flawlessly at 6 volts.

I've had no serious problems with Hitec servos and have never had a problem with Jr servos.
I've used both the 8231's and the HS5925.
Don't compare apples and apple cinnimon crisp on this one.
The JR has a superior deadband(centering accuracy) rating to the Hitec. But, the Hitec has a stronger gear train and decent centering accuracy, plus the price point on the Hitecs sit well with a many a modeller.
If your going to spend that much on the 5925's lots of guys will fork out the little extra and pick up Jr's composite gear train servos. Your choice.
After using the Hitec digitals on even my pattern airplanes I probably won't hesitate to buy more for the same type of plane. Price and value plays a big role and I think Hitec has done a good job thus far.
As for the guy that doesn't know an apple from an orange first before blabbing his mouth off at another product...better be an exceptional flyer.

Two weeks ago I watched as I heard one of the better flyers at our club holler Dont got it, got it, dont got it, what the heck is going on here. After a few tense moments he got his 1/3 cap on the ground with the left aileron at full up deflection. Investigation showed that one of the far superior JR servos had fried and was locked in the full deflected position.
Every servo has good and bad points. Many 3D flyers I know are using Hitec with out any problems.
There was a problem with the hitec servos locking up at 150 % but that has now been resolved, so they claim, and I will continue to purchase Hitec and fly them in my planes with FULL confidence.

SUKAHO-SUKHOI,
Kind of skeptical in what this guys says -- obviously doesn't really know what he's talking about.
What giant-sized park flyer are you running with HS-81s. The HS-81 is not a park flyer servo. The Hitec park flyer servo is the HS-55. The HS-81 is typically used for 1/2A to .15 sized airplanes or high-speed electrics. The MG versions of this servo is popular with the COMBAT flyers.

Every product has its flaws and the Hitec servos have way less units per thousand sold coming back for repairs, JR Digitals have the worst reputation of any Digitals out there.

I am a jr man, the manager sold me the jr 400 with 517 as my virgin loser back in the day. Since then I have ran the 8411 and never the digital hitech. I love the 8411 as it has become quite popular to find them for 100.00. I had friends tell me only to use the hitech for 1/4 scale or lower as the holding power is not all that unless you really stack them compared to the holding power of the 8411 which I 155 oz is on 4.8 volts so that's about 180 on 6 volts. Yes, they actually used them. I would love to save a dollar just like the next guy. So it really comes down to are you using them for a 1/4 scale or less, from what I have found out. Another thing I have found out is sometimes its better to just buy the better more expensive product in this case the 8411 because you may want to move up to a bigger plane; henceforth, you will not have to budget again for some better servos. eg... I am selling this 1/4, or I crashed it, now I am going up to the 33 -35% or better yet the 40% birds. Lords know we all have a stack of smaller what we called throttle servos in the box ready for that next bird. Yes my 3.23 cents worth of knowledge talk, so yes I will use hitech for my smaller birds if needed but for now 8411 are the ticket I am going with the idea its better to have a servo that centers well and has good holding power; hencefoth, it can make you smooth as silk.........

I agree. well said crazy if u cant afford big servos u cant afford big birds. dont fly on hitec if u want quality i fly jr in all my planes i care about but if it need to be in the air i will use hitec just dont like them compared to the jr if i read this thread correctly there was only to servos that were to be compared an out of the two the 8231 is by far way better end of subject

If you do not like the Hitec's, don't use them. But don't go around calling them garbage. If you like JR, well... power to you. I like the Hitec's I have and will continue to use them.
BTW, most of the Q500 and Q40 servo of choice is the HS225s.

These forums are to discuss and share ideas concerning RC. This topic started out on the right foot but has gone down hill fast. Please do not start with the personal attacks. It is okay to have an opinion about a product but when that opinion commences to start calling other people names, the line has been crossed. Lets keep it constructive and informative and leave the personal emotions on the table. Thanks Dave, forum moderator.

Just an added FYI...SUKAHO is what we like to call a "troll"...in this thread his intentions were obviously to bash a company and create a response from other users. Trying to get somebody's goat so to speak. There was some outright attacks and extremely offensive language used (has been edited) in his posts and rther than be a contributor he had chosen to try to take away from our users experience here and has been removed. This does not happen often here and with over 9000 members less than 10 have ever been banned. Sorry you fellas had to deal with him.
