[8D][size=4]Hi people

[sm=thumbup.gif][color=red]Dear 3D beginners, good news, very good news

[color=blue]While outdoors it's snowing, I'm playing with Real Flight G2.

I'm flying with CAP 232 (I haven't add-on) and OS 1.20 4 stroke engine.

[sm=thumbup.gif]To learn torque roll I have understood we must use this TRICK:

We have to place the plane vertical slowly, holding it slightly bent forward. We must manage the trottle always. There is not a point where hold the engine stick fix. We must continue to move the trottle up and down slowly. We must use the rudder only for big corrections ("Pizza" is right).

[sm=thumbup.gif]THE RIGHT PITCH SETTING-UP IS THE KEY TO LEARN TORQUE ROLL.

PLAY UNTILL YOU ENJOY YOURSELVES.

[:@]Remember: we are not members of "practice and burning fuel brotherhood"

OK Italian Flyer, do not practice but keep playing on the Realflight and then whenever you can, take your plane to the field and play with it repeating what you did on the simulator. Keep playing a lot on the field and you will find you can do the hovering and torque rolling easily. You call it playing and I will call it practice. As long as we burn a lot of fuel, it doesn't matter what we call it.

Pizza,

Your earlier post regarding stick exercises in the dark is very helpful. After practising as you outlined in your post, I tried it on the Realflight to nail the slow rolls and then rolling circles. One thing I find very helpful is as follows:

Take one of the 3D Top Cap or Extras downloaded from the net and reduce the time multiplier to 60-70%. This slows the plane down, giving more time for reacting and appropriate stick inputs. Then I go to the view menu and put the pilot position behind aircraft. This way, while flying slow rolls, I can see the result of the control inputs very close to the aircraft and polish the stick inputs to make the planes movement smooth. Its great for hand-eye coordination. I can aim for a point on the horizon to ensure that the slow rolls are axial and the plane follows a true line. I am slowly increasing the time multiplier back towards 100% as my skills improve.

I found the above helpful, hope others will try it and send their inputs.

Cheers!!

[8D][size=4]Hi people

[color=blue]Dear "Krazyflyer",

about rolling circles I am advantaged, because my radio has elevator and rudder on the left stick and I must only do an elliptic path. You, instead, must synchronize the left thumb with the right thumb.

"Pizza" (where has he gone?) said:

[color=red]If you have seen Mr. queki somenzini? spelling fly you will know that 3d and mode 1 are no problem

[color=blue]Not only they are no problem but I think that 3D and mode 1 are better.

What do you think about, 3D experts?

Italian Flyer,

The debate on which mode is better is a pointless one. Good on you if you feel advantaged with the mode you fly.
Ultimately it comes down to intelligent practice - sorry intelligent play with your model on field.

Cheers!!

Hey Ian, you've changed your Avatar.

What is that stuff (Marmite)? It looks good. Is it some kind of marmalade or fudge?

I'm thinking it's some sort of peanut butter or choc spread. Am I right?

Please explain.

answer is simple... if you know how to fly already... use that mode. If you live in Europe, learn mode 1. If you live in United States, learn mode 2. It is much easier to learn from a logistics point of view if you fly the same mode as everyone in your circle of flying friends. I learned mode 1, because my father learned mode 1 in the late 60's. Mode one is an artifact of the old "Toggle Switch" REED sets. There was a directional toggle switch located about where we now have the right stick, This switch worked side ways for left and right. There was also a Up-Down toggle switch about where we now have the left stick for elevator. See how Digital Proportional early systems came from this? I like mode 1 better, I have some reasons why I stick with it, but until recently acquiring a mode 1 radio in the US required a special order. Early 90's that turned around with the programmable radios. Airtronics actually had first "Consumer switchable mode Tx's... of the "BIG" 3 manufacturers that is... I don't know if the multiplex systems had this capability or not... Early simple systems, you just switched the spring and throttle rachet to other side, but if there was mixing, or dual rates, that would often not be useable. Check out the KRAFT and CITIZENSHIP in the picture!!! Oh yeah... I think Curtis Youngblood flies SINGLE STICK!!!!

Ian, I've heard of vegimite. It's mentioned in that old song from "Men at Work". It's the only time that I've ever heard it mentioned tho. Wot's funny is that I've heard the same thing that you've described, about either liking it or hating it. How does it compare to the Aussie's vegimite? I mean, in wot way?

Is it really-really sweet? I'm assuming that it's something like condensed milk sorta'? But maybe not so sweet. I'd actually like to try some myself, but I'm afraid that I'll have a hard time finding some here in the States. Gonna' check out the site and see if they'll send me a sample jar.

Have you always eaten the stuff, or is it somtin' you've recently aquired a taste for?

"Yo Adrian", do you eat Vegimite?

Ok , I've been following this thread for a while now...and biting my tongue the entire time.

Italian-flyer, no practice? what do you call your 2 or 3 days a week on G2? Why do you think that for the TOC's in Vegas do they alot space on the salt flats for...PRACTICE!!!
Until two days ago, i have never used a sim...i bought G2 for something to do on rainy days, and while it is fun, nothing beats getting out there and actually flying your plane. I've been flying for six years, and by no means consider myself an expert, but i owe all that i know to practice...all those times i would just "throw" the sticks to the corners to see what happend, and then coordinating that to perform specific maneuvers. And i'm not even going to go into how rude you're being by asking a question and then criticizing the answers like you could have answered them better yourself. My apologies to everyone that may have said the same things earlier in the thread, but thats just my .02...

You're still alot closer to the UK than me, Adrian. Bovril, I've heard of, however, fray bentos??!! Sounds like somthing from Taco Bell. Gonna' have to take notes here and head over to an international market to look this stuff up.

Great site Ian!! I can't believe a basic food group has established a following. Of course I had to visit the Marmite hater's site as well.

**Question to you both and any other Marmite consumers. If I try it now, as a young adult, what are the chances that I will actually like it. In other words; does one have to be raised on it in order to acquire its taste? And if I do like it, is there a chance that it will further enhance or sharpen my flying capability (you know, sorta' like Popeye and spinach)? Marmite may simply be the solution to successfull, "practice-free" 3D.

I could see it now, RCU...exclusively sponsered by Marmite!

[8D]Hi people

[color=red][sm=thumbup.gif]Dear 3D beginners, good news, very good news.

[COLOR=BLUE]I have found it's very amusing to fly helicopters.

I think if we'll be able to fly helicopters, we'll be advantaged in 3D flying, because we'll get a great sensibility in managing the sticks.

I'm using the REAL FLIGHT G2 trainer helicopter.

IT'S VERY MUCH MORE FUNNY TO FLY HELICOPTERS. 3D HELICOPTERS ARE A BLAST and not too difficult to fly. Also for helicopters
the greater difficulty is landing.

Helicopters are very expensive, but with G2 simulator we touch space bar and "voila" a new helicopter.

[sm=thumbup.gif][color=red]Dear 3D beginners, follow me and we'll learn 3D manoeuvers enjoying ourselves with our favourite music.

3D heli flying is not easy. With the powers of marmite you can fly them tho. Can you do sustained chaos or a death spiral yet?

Saw a chopper pilot at our feild doing a series of tight rolling circles and then continued into rolling loops, then back into rolling circles in the opposite direction, all combined in a series, at eye level. Simply amazing! No question...a Marmite consumer!

Just a thought Ian, what would happen if I were to add about 2-3oz of Marmite to my hardrive? Or maybe place just a little dab between the USB and the interface. I'll be experimenting this weekend to see what happens. Will post results.
