Could someone pease explain why my posting requesting info on proper escape methods from the Death Spiral was deleted?
If you did not like my preface remarks (and Mark Novacks as well) about most of the content of this Forum being unrelated to the Topic of the Forum you could have edited those comments rather than delete the whole thread which contained very useful information. Even some type of notice about why you took the action you did would have been nice.

I had a similar incident here on RCU about a comment I made about an engine in the engine forum. It started out in fun,and others played along. The guy who was offended made rude comments about me specifically, and I never singled anyone out in any my threads. The Forum moderator deleted all my post, and left the very rude ones directed at me.Then he sent me an E-Mail,telling me how pleased he was to "have the privelage"to do so.Not to professional if you ask me.I guess he was a fan of these particular engines and took the whole thing a little too personal.I'll be suprised if this thread doesn't get deleted also.Let's see how long it last.

To answer the question from willembad above I think the reference is to a plane going into a spin and not being able to recover. The most common reason for this situation is too far aft a CG.

lv2rcav8: I was not the mod that deleted your posts, but I will apologize if it was done unfairly. Mods have bad days also and do things they would not ordinarily do. I my self have deleted posts that could have gone either way, I believe all the mods try to moderate with as much hands off as possible, but we do make mistakes. We have in place now a method where if you believe your post was moderated unjustly, a email or PM to one of the senior Mods will get your post reviewed, and restored if found in your favor. We try very hard to be fair, and thats all we can do.

Robert - they guy who got banned for "complaining about a moderator who sold him a bad plane" as you said was not banned for that reason. That privileged individual was Joe Hunt (JBH) who was banned because of the lies that he told in that deal to me and than personally backstabbed me after I spent hours trying to help resolve the deal (again lying to me personally before taking a knife and inserting it into my back)....he was consequently banned from RCU without prejudice permanently. He's now the problem for other forums and not ours anymore. On this topic or other "rumors" you can come to me directly if you feel you have the need for the true story. All banning is taken extremely seriously with the interest of RCU users at heart. JBH is not somebody I would let anybody I considered a friend or "customer" speak to or deal with on any level.

The primary topic of the posting was concerning medium speed and high speed snaps that quckly result in a Death Spiral that is very difficult to recover from. There were a few good replies with some very useful advice but unfortunately all the info is now gone with nobody admitting culpability for deleting it.

Several years ago I sold a Top Flight Holy Smoke to a friend. He snapped it hard and it went into a flat spin. The more elevator he used, the faster it spun. He wasn't able to recover, and it pancaked into the ground really hard. It didn't have rudder control. I suppose rudder may have helped, because he had no control in the flat / spinning attitude. If I build any delta again, I'll for sure have rudder on it!

A death spiral, is caused by the dropping of one wing from straight and level flight, then the nose drops, and as the speed increases the spiral increases. A simple remedy is to level the wings, and a full size plane if enough altitude is left, the nose will come up over level flight then drop, then come up again until the oscillations stop and level flight is achieved. No other input is needed on the controls.

All Mods do this for free,we do not get paid. We use or spare time to help.
We are human.
And we all get hot headed sometimes, and say the wrong or do the wrong things
But one thing I must say we love our Hobby

Hey Taildragger,
I don't know who your instructor is/was, but I was toughs to fly the airplane. That means moving the controls, not just watching airplanes. That's why we have controls....
This is not your doing, but the "Death Spiral" is just one of those hanger-rat stories spread by people that doesn't take the time to learn the real cause and effect of their actions or observations when it comes to flying airplanes.
Phew....
I had a horrible day. Sorry

Chris,
Don't be so paranoid...all the guys love you. Just keep things on topic rather than taking pokes at the mods or other posts which may infringe upon the rules and I assure you that your posts will have magnificent staying power.
Normally I would delete what you just wrote above as it is clearly just trolling for trouble by adding fuel to the fire but I'll leave it up here along with both our posts and either of us can point to it in the future if either of us breaks our promise.
