How heavy is your engine? Mine is only 17 ounces (YS 63). If your engine is 20+ ounces that would explain why yours is still a little nose heavy. Or maybe I should still not do pull pull? It's really hard to balance a tail heavy plane once it's all done. A nose heavy plane only takes moving the battery back.
I think what I might do is to complete everything except for the tail servo installation. Then I will do a "test balance" by just placing the servos on the tail, moving the battery around, and see where the CG ends up. Then I can see where it ends up with this engine.
thanks for the help.

I'd go with the 91. The plane is easily 6 lbs and the 72 would be marginal. The 91 would be perfect.

I too would like to put a four stroker on this plane. I thought a saito .72 would be good are should i go with the .91 ?????

Hey guys thought I would chime in here and let you know some info on the PLH 3D Edge. We will be getting a new shipment in by the end of the month. There are suppose to be some new color schemes coming in. I will try and get some pics of the new schemes and post them as soon as they come in.
We are also going to set a green one ( new color scheme ) up with the Saito 82 and some new Digital servos that we carry. I will get some pics and video as soon as I can of the plane in flight.
Also for the guys wondering about where to get the plane, you need to talk to your LHS to get you one as we only sell to them at this time.
I will also try and get the Powerline Hobbies web site updated with the new color schemes and stuff as soon as possible.

RE: Video: Edge 540 .46 3D vs Funtana .46 3D
You have not missed anything except breaking every rule in the AMA and henceforth damaging the image of true 3D flying.. these kinds of shananigans is what makes the rest of the folks at our fields want to ban 3D flying ie.. slapping the plane in hover mode, runnning behind the plane trying to catch it, touch and go on the WING TIP and stab at full throttle.. these guys are pretty good but what is done in the video if it were done here the States they would be banned from any flying site. I know these fellows and they are really great kids I wish they could channel that talent in some precision flying and they would be unstopable but they like most of the young crowd have been bit hard by the Hype of only 3D 3D 3D now they have a video of some really cool 3D flying with the foamies and show great talent and are quite entertaining so if some of the 3D RCU folks could sort of help these guys see the light that 3D is fun but must be safe at the same time so that we dont see another fatality in the model community...

I am also interested in the 3D characteristics of this edge. What type of 3D maneuvers
did they perform other than hover? How well did it harrier, blender, waterfall, etc? I
am especially interested in how well it performed the harrier maneuver. Was there
any wing rock?

Hey Jclark, I agree you need to do major updating to your website.....All the pictures are skewed. But i tell you i had one of your 23% edge at the begining of this year and it was sweet. It is one of the best looking arfs that i have ever seen. I plan on getting the .46 edge by next month and will put the saito .91 in it.

Anyone know why their engine mounting cross hairs are so high on the firewall? I could not even mount my engine that high. It's about 1/8th to 1/4 inch lower than they marked on the fire wall. Is there any down thrust on the firewall? I could not see any. Maybe they put the cross hairs high to create down thrust? Mine is almost done with a YS 63. I mounted my battery on the left side of the engine box, worked out great. It's a Vipor 1100 mah NiMh pack with shorter cells. Fits perfect along the side of the box.

It balances fine with the servos in the tail as long as the battery is all way in front. It was easier to just tie wrap the battery to the engine box with some foam under it. It balances perfectly. Can't wait to fly it. I have to get the rest of the radio gear in there. I mounted the tank on the cg so it should fly really nice. BTW, that tank they supplied leaks. I pressurized it and heard air leaking from the stopper supply line. I'm using my tank from my Funtana 40 since it held up very well and never leaked.

Yeah we noticed that also, just mount it as high as possible and it'll work fine. How did it balance with the YS?

We have the two old color schemes that are on the web site. The new color scheme is green and white but I haven't seen them yet in person. They are suppose to be in to Power-line on Mon. or Tues. this next week. As soon as they hit the warehouse I will try and get some pics posted. You will have to let your LHS know what color you want so he can tell us when he orders it.

You probably did a search for something with Edge in it. For some reason when the search word is lit up it messes up links. Try getting to it by going directly through the forum.
