that is still no good - it has to weigh under 5lb all up ready to go minus fuel. did you see that 90 size funtana crash video? it was a nice looking plane but he got board because it weighs 10lb and would only do blenders and fly fast so he crashed it in nicely. if it weighed under 5lb he would quit his job and fly it everyday. don't let this happen to you! if we stop buying cheep 10lb 3d planes then companies will start mass producing light kits from balsa - no lazercut ply. it is proven - my diablotin will fly unlimited imac sequence, fai pattern, every 3d manuver - I even flew it in a pillon race - we need to demand more rather than to settle for less.

I think you are crazy if you think you can build from scratch a F90 that is stronger and 40% lighter than the one that H9 puts out in an ARF.

I am pretty sure that is a Laser3d. I have built 2 of them, I got one of mine down to just a shade over 4lbs with the saito .72 and it would fly like it was a feather. Does good 3D but its lacking in the more advanced 3D category.

To the subject matter of the thread--I have club members that like to build ask me for info on kits that are scale looking(edge, extra, yak ect) and light. I have to reply that I know of nothing that is readily available. If you want a scale looking plane that comes in light you have to get the right arf. --60" Fliton 330, E.F. 68" yak, Funtana 90.

I think the F90 3D's great @ 10.5 pounds with enough power. That Diablotin must float like a feather. ---What are you doing with that heavy battery pack in there? If you are going with ni packs the 2/3 AA or 2/3A will save you some weight.

I use standard size heavy servos, batt, receiver so it will fly nicely in heavy wind. If I used light radio gear it would weigh 3lb instead of 4.

I think the best thing you can do is buy yourself another Diablotin. I think you have the perfect plane in front of you already. Just buy another one and change the color of it. That way you can fly a plane that suits you and is not hard to handle like the other mass produced planes.
I would stay away from planes that are bricks and explode when landed hard. Yet I never seen a plane Explode as you mentioned out of all the crashes I seen.
Not to sound rude but just my thoughts. I have been flying a F90 now since it came out and I see no problem flying with the weight it is. If I cut the engine off and land deadstick it still floats right in. It lands the same with or without the engine. Maybe you need to practice more with other mass produced planes that are heavier and get used to them. Either that or stop watching what the other guy is doing and try one yourself. That way you wont have explosions on landings and will know for yourself the limit of the plane.
They are not hard to fly and everyone else seems to have no problem making them float with the higher weight they carry. As you can see from videos on here people are capable of doing what they want to do and having fun doing it. No complaints.
I dont think I would want a plane that light anyways. I feel the F90 is way light enough as it stands. Any more lighter and it would be an indoor only plane.

I can't imagine a plane that size weighing only 4 pounds flying that well in the heavy wind (gusty swirly stuff). Looks like your plane is bigger than my Laser3D at 6 pounds.

I know this plane -it is that light and it is silent in flight -I flew it once long time ago- as for wind - power is always best defense against wind - heavy just makes em a slug in trying to correct

I don't profit in any way from Diablotin or pipe - just flys's better than anything else I have tried to date. I bought 2 from ICARE in Canada and 3 from esprite models - they come in diff color combos for about $275 + ship. the escomposites.com cf pipe is a must have - it weighs much less than stock muffler adds about 20% power, stretches the power band around hover speed, redistributes weight back off front of airplane, has a nice quiet thuddy exhaust note for long hours of hovering next to your ear, and is almost indestructable - will last a lifetime.
I tried to contact the designer and producer of the diablotin to see if other similar kits are available www.jr-models.cz but I need an interpreter - can anyone help? he is a modeling genius, he must have a phd in enginering and work hard everyday - nobody else in the world can do it. he went to that same light building school as dick hanson but after a few lessons dick grew long hair and droped out. cz dude struggled on to graduate top of the class with honors - what is his name and how do you pronounce it anyway?
