O.K. fair enough... yours is the lightest I've seen reported...

12 lb even without your wheels and padding/tape/etc...

Now add the 4 oz back in for wheel pants and 1.9 oz spinner you don't have...

12 lbs 4 oz... - 6 oz for lighter engine...

11 lbs 14 oz... where might we lose 10 oz to get to 11 1/4 lb?

Doesn't really matter... it will fly great at 11.25 lbs or 12.5 lbs... Or 13.5 for those that got that...

I'm just trying to find out how I can get mine to 11.25 lbs... best I can see... I can't.
RJConnet and Aerobob were almost identical weight to mine if you factor in batteries, switches and spinners ect.

I would like to see a couple B36 power packages on a calibrated scale. My B46, RSSS ignition, plug, motor mounts(cut),bolts ,& light muffler came at 57.75oz (see http://www.rcaerobats.net/GAS_ENGINE...ENGINE_WTS.htm for comparison).

I'll be getting mine at Toledo if all goes well... I'll take it to the post office for confirmation that my digital scale here is right on...

The Brillelli engines are going to vary ever so slightly as each engine is worked on by Scott... I'd say the variance is most likely in the reruction/cleanup of cylinder head/fins...

OK enough about what weights were getting!! Get these Yaks out there and fly them. Their gonna fly fine up to the weights you guys are getting..

I like to see how good the B36 is goin to be compared to the B46. I know my friends H9 260 is an animal with the B46 and it's weighing over the 12lbs. mark.
I'd also like to see how these Yaks handle the extra vibration of the gas compared to the glow, over time..There is a differance in the amount the gas shakes compared to glow.

AHH!! I can't wait for you guys to fly the B Powered Yaks!!

Easy for you to say...I have about 9inches of fresh snow and it is still comming [:@] I am waiting on H.T. for one servo and I need to do a full PPM range check before I go to PCM.

As far as the vibration goes, on my initial ground run up it did not appear to me that vibration of the B46 on the 74" was any worse than my YS110 was on my 68"er. In fact, it appeared to be to be better--much better than I expected. [&:]

Well I got a gallon of fuel through the Saito this weekend doing the break in. Could not tune the motor though as the prop was slightly out of balance and I did not care to rev her up all the way.Guess Ill do that Fri. afternoon ,If the airwild servo arms get here in time Ill get to fly it! WOOOOHOOO! Can not waite! Should be able to get some video for those that are wondering what the Saito will do. From the thrust it was putting out this weekend things are looking nice!

Default RE: Extreme Flight RC Yak 54 - 74 inch!

So here is the breakdown on my weights just to clarify for Maudib

3.5 feet of tygon fuel tubing 0.9 oz
H9 Fuel dot 0.1 oz
CF spinner 1.9 oz
20x8 XOAR 3.4 oz
HS 5985 2.1 oz
HS 225MG throttle servo 1.9 oz
Spektrum receiver 0.7 oz
Fromeco 2600 3.5 oz
Miracle switch x2 2.2 oz
RCAT electronic cut off 0.5 oz
Duralite 950 2.1 oz
Dubro 12 oz 1.5 oz

=20.8 oz --> 1 lb 4.8 oz

R wing with HS-5645 servo and servo extenstion 1 lb 3 oz
L wing " " " " " " 1 lb 2 oz
Fuselage with B 36/Roy Scholl Ignition 8 lbs 5oz
Various pieces of wood, foam, epoxy, throttle pushrod included with fuse weight.

Total weight 1 lb 4.8oz+ 1lb 3 oz + 1lb 2oz + 8lb 5oz ====> 11lb 14.8 oz

Sorry for leaving off the 0.8 oz on my orignial post

I don't think I left anything out and everything has gone across the scale.

STG,

I have my CG at 6 1/4" from the leading edge. I have my batteries as shown in the picture. The fromeco 2600 is between the two rear formers about 12 inches back from the rear canopy former and the ignition battery is below the rudder servo. Everything is loose in the picture as that as how I was able to establilsh my CG.

Thanks
Mark

My OS160 pulls it like a truck, your Saito should be AWESOME!!!

STG,
Our snow is finally gone off our field, but the weather can't make up it's mind if it wants to stay warm or go back to 40deg. But at least I still can go out and fly. I may even go out Easter Sunday... Were not doin anything special anyways.

Chris Hinson sent out my new canopy today, should be here before the weekend.. Wish the 88" was out when I shopping for a 50cc Yak.

mciaglia,

I am new to this gasser thing, but as far as I understand it is cleanest to keep everything to do with the ignition system away from your receiver system. You probably know more about this than I do-- that is why I went "old school" on mine and maintained at least a 12" separation.

Bottom line is that if it passes a full range test all is good.

Thanks for sharing everything!

STG,

There were a lot of recomendations about keeping ignition components ~12" from the receiver. The most important is the ignition module as that produces the most RF signal, or the spark plug if all the porceilan is not covered. However the ignition battery really does not matter. In addition, with the new Spektrum system, RF signals are not as critical.

I am always learning as I go, and am always looking for advice on the best set-up. A range check is essential and if I have any problems or success with my set-up will report.

Hi Mark... yeah thanks for getting it all listed for us... for the record... your first post stated 11 lbs 4 oz... not 11 lbs 14 oz... there is the mysterious 10 oz!

Woops!!! Sorry for the miss quote. I think at 11lbs 14 oz this should be a screaming plane. I plan on checking out some of the smaller props for the 36 to get the higher RPMS and HP. Will see. Weather taking a turn for the worse here in NY.

Looks good.. The only thing for me,is that it looks kinda busy..I think the squares in the fields look good. But have just that on the wings. The stars with the squares that say yak would look good on the rear turtledeck. It would look like the stars are like shooting stars. And if you dont have the squares in the fields then the rips would look cool with the squares. I like the OS FX 160s font..

Yeah... I kind of did them up as a "mix and match" set... pick what you wnat, where ya want it...

The stabs will be made to match the wing...

Looks great Maudib! Well I just couldn't bring myself to mount the OS 160 on this bird. I ordered the Brilleli 46 last night. The site says the ignition will work with an unregulated 7.4v lipo. Has anyone tried that yet? I have 2 2100mah 2 cell lipos and one regulator. That will work out nicely! By the way Maudib I thought from the first time I unboxed the plane the checkers would look killer in the wings and stabs. So count me in if you are selling these!

Looks like a little job ahead... you were probably just showing the width, but the pic looks like the gear are swept... and you had them sweeping back... just in case... they DO sweep FORWARD. I know sometimes they can be a little different width on side than the other, and I'd hate to see you build it up, flip them around and still not fit....

Is that a radial you have on there?

This ZDZ 40f3A looks like the perfect match to this plane if you want to use gas. Anyone try this combo yet?

So far no reports, but it should be great. Do you have a muffler or were you planning on a pipe/canister? Do you have a good scale to get weight of power package-- motor/ignition/plug/muffler (if you have it). What will you drive the ignition with?
