I was there behind the camera. It was very windy. Here is a weather report link for that day..:
http://www.weatherunderground.com/hi...q_statename=NA I'd say the 9 was the steady calm, more gusts, and wind than anything . The wind was in all directions. We fly on a hill too.[X(] Not a good day for video but the plane ( and 3d nut) did well. With the side force generators on the the wing tips, the wing went from steady to rock solid. [X(]

You sure that last knife edge spin didn't smack down??

If I told you that I SMACKED it into the ground, on that knife edge spin on the video. Do I have to buy another one?

A_Smith. that 9 mph steady calm was in the morning, go check out the time that we we're there (2:00PM) and by the way nice camera work.
You could see it in the video on the knife edge how windy it was, and the plane still flew like a champ.

can't wait till i can get my hands on one of these. it will be my first 3d plane so i'm hoping it won't be too much to handle. it was a decision between this and the Extreme Flight Edge 540T but given that the TMpro is going to be available locally in Australia in a few weeks time (and I didn't get a response from an email I sent to Extreme Flight) i chose to go with the TMPro.
Now for a list of questions that i'm sure you guys could answer for me, me being a 3d n00b and all
I have an OS46AX with standard muffler to go on this, running 10% nitro - will this be a big enough engine for a 4.25lb plane? What sort of vertical performance could I expect with this engine? What would be the best prop to use?
I have JR ES539 standard servos (not metal gear) for it (4.8kg torque) - will they be enough or should i get higher torque MG servos?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

fjaust: That motor, fuel and the servos will be fine for the job. The 539's might even be a little overkill but use them as they'll feel a little better than standard servos on the precision side while flying. Everything you got is great now just make sure you don't put in a brick of a battery (ex. 1800mah nicad) in it just to make sure you keep the weight down and you'll have a great rig.

Good choice to stick with the TMpro planes, at this time I have four of them still in one piece
. As far as servos goes you could use your standard servos, the OS46AX is more then enough power, the prop I use on the video was a APC 12.25x3.75 and if you would like to get more power out of the engine just increase your nitro. By the way it lands like a trainer, nice and slow.Spiro

I'd put something a little stronger then a standard on the elevator on all profiles to reduce the chance of flutter. The Extra also flies a little faster then the Katana V2 due to it's slightly thinner wing which makes it track better to practice pattern and IMAC flying. It's more of a do it all plane then just low and slow 3D like the Katana.

Their gears have lotsa backlash so make sure you use a proper mechanical setup.

if you guys realized in the video, I was flying it fast due to the high gust of wind that day, and it did not fall apart

Yes, there are some left for first shipment. I'm awaiting the phone call from the port any day now and only have to go pick them up as the port is only 10 miles from our wharehouse.
