Why thankyou.
I hope it not only be built in time, but that i will have a few days to practice with it and get the setup sorted.I think i will start the c ofg at 135mm and then move it back until level flight gets awkward, and then ever so slowly move the cofg progressively forward until it just smoothes out. only problem is it will take time. I am not sure ive got it!
What cofg are you using Dave?
The new posh Island hobbies hinges are going in it as well.
While i am at it do you guys think the 6V Nimh 1800 pack i am planning to put in it will be alright?
Thanks everybody for your help so far.

I have just downloaded the programs. Bloody hell its complicated!
Too much for me. All the instructions are crap and ive got no idea how to even draw a plane.
Oh Well. Now its over to Edible and PhillyBaby. They might be able to get their heads round it better than me.]
here is Mikes C 140ex taking off at hastings;

right all, Ive got 2 questions.
1) is the c50 got a square section to the fus with a rounded top?
2) i may buy a 6v pack for my flip, is it worth the extra dosh, i check my battery juice after every flight and the checker supports 6v.

had a really good day out, took Pheonix, Capiche and the Shrike. The shrike flew just as it used to, such a small plane, but fast stable and big fun. i did so many low passes banking to shine the wings, its faster than i remember too, not bad for a 21. i said it once, i'll say it again, i will never be without a Shrike
perfect little back of the boot model to just get up there and throw about.First flight with the Capiche was a bit bumpy with the north wind, i flew again later, using low rates and smooth pattern flight, gave it a bit more rudder to hold knife edge and climb if needed, i also mixed in some rudder to elevator, just 4% one way, 6% the other. holds straight and true now, we've got ur flyer of the year comp comming up soon so i want to practice all those things like 4 point rolls, normally noone holes knife edge, just stops and they still get good marks. surprisingly when i went from one edge to the other i DIDNT! muck up which way i put the rudder
but i still need lots of practice. it went dead stick flying out the tank, walking back John Partridge said "you really like that plane"
"yep" filled up and went out again. 3d rates this time, need to take a bit off rudder, because full throw makes it twist, not good for control line circuits, more expo on elevator has smoothed that out.now for a shock! terry brought a plane and flew it! Carters, you know how rare that is. i got it on the camera to prove it
he had a hype, thought i'd like to see how that goes compaired to the Capiche, it's lighter, so whoever said they were 6 1/2 lbs ( who i then quoted
) was lying. didn't look that smooth, but i didn't have a go.I got a kid there to take some vid of my Capiche, but he stood right behind the wind sock, my KE loop that got ass clenchingley low... all in the wind sock. then the last part of the vid is all jumpy, not sure why, only got the cam back yesterday, but its the same time my tranny was beeping with a low batt warning... don't know how that would effect it!
will get more vid soon

The two programs for creating models for AFP are metasoiquaithingybob and pixia(for making the clour schemes to wrap over the cad model)
I might replace the crankcase on my broken Irvine, But which engine would you guys recommend as a repacement- the Saito 72 or the West 50?
I myself fancy going fourstroke(and spend the extra £££s) for a change but which one has got more power?
Thanks
Luke

loland i'd still be lighter

i had mine just a tad rich today, and a blue sky, looked great seeing a trail behind me in spins, and it would start and stop with throttle, looked great in loops... umm i've got loads of room in front of the batt, enough for a 2oz tank and servo... smoke anyone?

apparently the Saito 72 is lighter than the YS 63 and has got 10% more power than an irvine 53, but it should have better static thrust swinging a 13x6W instead of a 12.75 x 3.75.
Also Paul from Justengines says they will run on 5-10% nitro as well! Thats a bit better and cheaper than YS!
The fourstroke would work better with that smoke system your talking about by the way Phil.........

go with the four banger, four strokes have a much nicer linear throttle response and wind a prop up much quicker than a two stroke which makes some 3D moves easier and more controllable (flops ate much easier with a four stroke)
