I have heard rumours that an APC 10 X 5 pusher prop is going to become available very soon for the fun flys. If this is true it must be possable to do upside down prop hanging with the nose of the aircraft pointing at the ground wow this will look wacky! what has anybody else heard?

Hey yo dude ! How's it hangin ?
Read your thread about nose down prop hanging. ya goin to love this form of 3 D flying.
Your correct, this is really a wacky form of flying and sounds like the sort of flying you do. I am just geting to grips with it. this is really like learning to hover all over again but this time with none or little prop wash over the surfaces. However it can be done the set up to do this makes the plane pretty useless for other forms of flying and I am using 40% nitro and smg synthetic oil for lubricating. I use the high nitro to help cool the motor, and also keep the engine slightly rich as their is no cooling air over the engine.
good luck with this. Doctor Jason
PS whats with the "turn and burn before you run out of fuel"?
I don't get it?

Hey mister,
does this form of flying mix paint as well?
You could even cut the strip's grass or dig out some burrowing pigmy aliens.
Then again you could dry someones hair with it.
You never know , this type of extreme flying might just take over the world- if only it was possible.

I heard about a dude that carves his own props and he's been doin this for years! Ya have to adjust the CG a bit, hehe. If you decide to try it, just remember to reverse your throttle servo!

Inverted prop hanging - hmmm ... Perhaps if you build a nice light electric fun fly and use a reversible speed controller (like they use for RC cars).

or....when they market that (in-flight) variable pitch prop with reverse pitch.....
take off like normal, point the nose down, crank to reverse pitch & throttle up!!!

BuzardDave,
That's what I'm talking 'bout. I'd love to se a variable pitch prop/constant speed prop. Put a governor on the throttle and set your throttle stick up like stunt mode on a heli, 0 pitch at mid stick, and forward/backwards on positive/negative stick. Would love to come in in a steep dive, turn the brakes on and land in 5' he he. Next trip would be hovering ON the prop.
Hey what's that Ultimate you've got there? I'm looking for something for my RCS44B2 engine, a 65-70" ultimate, possibly the Great Planes 1/3 scale Pitts, but rather an Ultimate.

Even if you could get it off the ground (hand launch with tail up?) The control surfaces wouldn't have any air flowing across them, so they'd be pretty useless. If you could slowly climb, then you might have something!

Hovering a plane on the prop down, if possible, should be very much harder than hovering a plane conventional style. When hovering planes conventional style, the force is above the CG and therefore already helps it to a natural occurence, and we build our planes with extra large control surfaces with extra much throw, to be able/make it easier to maintain the attitude of the plane.
When standing a plane on the prop, and maintaining that attitude, the pilot would have to be so super observant and fast with the controls, that I still have a hard time imagining it possible. The airflow in front of a prop is nothing like the airflow behind it, when airspeed is nil. Perhaps if a huge, slow turning prop, much like a helicopter rotor, were used, at least the gyroscopic forces would be on our side.

Stalled I don't think so. If you can prop hang and know your aerodynamics you will know that the stall occurs when you exceed a given angle of attack for the aero foil,so if you are hanging out in calm conditions you should know that your angle of attack is zero .The velocity of the air flow over the airfoil is irrelevant so long as the critical angle is not exceeded.

Of course this would close the gap between heli's and aiplanes:
Just put a small rotor on the nose of your plane..ie the propellor would have throtle, collective and cyclic. That way you could hover nose down and nose up and heaven knows what other manuevers would be possible?!
Its only a matter of time...

From: JSY,
Hi Dr Jason,
I am off to Sandown to sea the fabulous Ireland Hobbits flying their Capeach's.
From what I 've seen this is the most under hyped model ever released to the model fliers. I was going to get a FREESTYLE while I am at Sandown but I will try to push to the front of the crowds to get a piece of paper with some drawings on it and a bundle of plywood to build a Capish.
Does yours fly well with a Fox 19 on it?
Where do you get the yellow propellers from?
I was going to get a JR radio for this plane can I get one in C.I.
When is Model World releasing the plan, i have not seen it in any of the ones i have bought.

Hi Dr. Jason,
Thanks for viewing the video I am sorry it was on Betamax, that is all I can afford.
My neck is getting better now
The Crapiss site has gone quite, oh, forgot their with you.
Does Ben Buckle do a hovering vintage plane??
Hope you enjoy Sandown I know I will.
off to bed now, Pro 3D.

I thought the show was excellant I was particually impressed with your inverted prop hanging on the friday night when the examiners were checking you out for your b certificate. By the way what does the "B" stand for. Is it an expression that I am familiar with. Could it be used any where else on a forum with more meaning?
I was appalled with the safety at the Park. Is it normal for people to cheer when they see another modeler crash his plane, if it is I will start to do this myself.
Will be in touch soon as at the moment I am perfecting a New manouevre called the RUDDER or some people may call it the CONCORDE
Cheers DEARS

From: Lima, OH,
I tried that pusher prop and am having some problems.
After throttle up to take off it just flips back on the prop.
I need to know the secret to get it in the air. Things would be much simpler if it was a turbo prop.
How about it Guys!
