im thinkin same thing, but in different plane (diablotin FG)
will 2 standard servos do fine in elevator, and torque servos for ailerons and rudder? i probably use Hitec HS-645MG , exept elevator standard servos (2) will it work?
and about these MG servos, should i change interior to nylon hardware?

Personally I think this is a way bad idea on the Hype. The sides of the fuse at the tail have enough problems supporting the loads imposed by the horizontal stab without having holes made for servos. Sure you'd put thin ply in and brace the vert/horz stabs. From memory i don't think you can brace because of the relative positions of the vert/horz stabs.
My horz stab snapped through one side of the fuse. Wing survived and I used tri-balsa inside and out on the replacement fuse due to paranoia. Flew brilliantly after than until my reciever battery failed.
Sounds like people are having the same structural problems with the new original Hype but actually I think some people may be putting in the closed loops incorrectly or to tight. Easy to do.

on last Saturday. It looks like it was not problem of
tail portion rather like lousy material/design of horizontal stab.
Central part was still left in fuse after crash.
As far as dual servos, I was more thinking of redesigning servo tray to accomodate 2 servos side by side.

This is what I did, and at the same time was able to gain access to beef up the sides of the fuz where the stab passes through.
Had over 50 flights now with no problems

Pilottx,
Cutting away rear portion of airframe. Didn't that
weaken the structure ?
Anyway IMHO elevator is more of problem than
rudder. That's the reason why I wanted to
go with dual elevator servos.

It actually strengthens it, putting in those servo bearers makes it very rigid. If you look closley you may also see where I have added extra balsa inside the fuz where the horizontal stab passes through.

I've never really had a problem with the elevator, occasional tightening of the closed loop, nothing else really.
What are you experiencing??
My reason for doing the rudder was because in a hover the Hype would always drop to the left even with loads of right thrust on the motor. Fitting the servo in the tail cured the problem, much faster and much more powerfull rudder action.

I have the feeling that elevator is putting much more
loads that rudder.
What servos are You using on rudder/elevator ?

Futaba standard on the elevator, and for the rudder currently a JR 577 but going to change this to a SuperTec metal geared servo shortly

it is a 3001 and response is very good, I don't fly it fast though, I just tend to float and tumble around the sky. The torque from the ASP 80 4 stroke is just brilliant

i have two standards on my elevtaor mounted at the back..
sure.. its a rubbishly built and designed plane, but the only way i could get satisfying 3d flight was to make this mod.
i beefed up the insides with 1/8 ply.. this also helped to get the c/g somewhere decent. definately recommended

have done... twice!! Im gonna get me heli then se what sorta money i have left... id like the synergy but it wud look stupid without a ys and im too skint for that lol.. gonna have to be a katana... itll give me somethin to build anyway
Back to the hype... a friend used minis ... decent futaba ones ... his plane eventually crashed through the gears breaking while he was hovering. Id say minis are a defiante NO on this!
