Well I maidened mine today , and have one word for this plane.......AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe how easy it is to fly...then a friend of mine who has a funtana 40 with a ys 63 on it flew it....I had to wrestle the transmitter back from him...all he said was this will do things that my funtana won't and I want one!!!!! lol had some engine troubles late in the day but it was valves that were in dire need of adjustment ...so I stopped flying it and went back to the ultra stick...adjusted the valves tonight and have it back ready for air....hopefully I'll be able to sneekout of work early this week[8D].
Oh and the final weight on it was 6lbs 2ozs.

hockeyrules99..........Good deal man! I'm proud of ya! Glad it went ok. How far off was the trim? Was your CG in the correct position?
How was the pucker factor during the first seconds of flight?
I'm just curious in what I should look for in my first flights on my UCD #2. My first one got halfway around the feild and the elevator flew off and did a 50 MPH nosedive into the ground. I really didnt have a chance to get it around and get a good flat slow run to see how the trim was or nuthin.
THANKS!
Joe

Kokamo...the trim adjustment was was'nt bad at all few clicks of ail. few clicks of elevator..the usual.. my CG was 5.75 and it was able to flat spin ..knife edges needed some ail input but not much I could'nt believe how little rudder input was needed to knife it..but I did notice as i applied more rudder things got a little squirrelly with it..and low speed over the runway...I could walk faster...landing I think can be done hands off ...provided there's no wind ..or very little lol .. as for the pucker factor...it was high until I made my first few turns ...then nose up and high rates lol
John
good luck with yours man hope it goes better than your last maiden..did great planes replace the ship for you?

hockeyrules99......Great planes didn't replace it for me. I really didn't want to go thru the hassle. I will PM ya and explain later. I just went and bought one and built it again. This time I built it right. I would have prolly maidened it this weekend but just like I thought, a cold front came in and there was ALOT of wind and rain. Not good fer the UCD.
HEY! Has anyone had to add weight to the tail?????
I had to add 17oz to the tail to ballance it out at 5-1/2". I hate to add weight, but I have nothing to shift rearward. All I have to move is RX, battery is under the fuel tank. I will try and move the batt to make it ballance without adding any weight.

Will do, but do I have to resize pictures to upload? I went nuts trying to get my Aurora pattern plane in an acceptable small size avatar.
Well you might not groan, but you will smile. If I find all the pieces I'll have them glued together by tomorrow.

Koko ..did I read that right that you needed to add 17 oz? 1lb 1oz to the tail? I was tail heavy as it was ..I had to add 1.25 oz to the fire wall but thats with the cowl off and the cowl weighs one once...yadda yadda...in the tail I used servos that weighed 1.8 oz each if i had of went with lighter servos I would'nt have gotten the speed I wanted ....try moving your battery pack up right behind the canopy maybe? just shoting soem ideas from the hip ...

John, I'm sorry....I"m an idiot.....I ment grams. What a goof up. Sorry, I will get the battery out tonight and put it in a different spot. Now I gotta take the balsa block out to get to the fuel tank, take off the cowl, pull fuel lines off of the tank, pull tank and then I can get to the battery. Whew! I'm glad I like this hobby. Always somthin'!
I think if I move the batt a little closer to the CG point I will be ok.
1 pound!!!!!????? What the heck was I thinkin'??? OH I remember, I posted that last one after about 5 minutes of being awake! I guess thats what I get for being too anctious to get info on this thing!
I'll keep ya posted!

Hey Raideron...I got a message saying 3 pictures were uploaded but they don't appear in my message. I wanted to upload 6 pictures and think it will take two postings of three pix each, due to the 3000KB restriction on pictures. I'll try again, guys. There should be 1 pix with this post unless I somehow screw up again.

O.K. I got one posted. Apparently the text has to be typed first so we'll try again. Also, you have to click twice to get a full smooth picture without edge distortions.

O.K. Guys, still working on this. To get the full size picture, let me clarify for those who don't know. I just learned.
First double click on the picture...second, maximize your window...third, circle your cursor near the lower right hand corner of your picture and you will activate a symbol with arrows...fourth, click on the middle of this symbol...this blows the picture up to the RCU maximum. Nice smooth edges, good resolution.
CeeGee, I have a picture program called ACDsee which I used to get my avatar sized. I like your picture. Isn't that an avatar...or is that supplied by RCU?
This should be my last two pictures showing the 4-40 linkages. The canopy is coated on the inside with Testor's transparent blue so the pilot can look out. He was on break when I took the pictures.
Try to overlook the wrinkles in the covering, it has been hanging in my basement since last October.

kokamo...you're definitely not an idiot if you are smart enough to have flying as your hobby.
However,... you do have to be ten percent smarter than your equipment.
I agree, always sumthin'.
