Next I made a light weight bomb from one of my kid's toys. I took the plane up really high, slowed down and released the bomb. Then I powered the plane into a fast dive like the start of an elevator, popped it into a harrier and tried to catch the bomb in a basket I had affixed to the top of the plane. Have only been able to catch the bomb once so far but am still trying. NOSRAM, with your flying skills I know you could probably catch the bomb every time. |

I think this plane should be renamed U-Can-Do-Anything. LOL :D I though the 4* series is the most bashable plane, not anymore...

This is my first glow plane, as I transition from electric. Doing some very basic 3d maneuvers. I've D/Led all the Real Flight vivds I can find, as well as search everywhere for info. Not just tutorials, even just explanations of WHAT these maneuvers are. Any help where I can look???

Fixed Wing
I tried the bomb deal, just like you said. I powered the plane into a fast dive , popped it into a harrier and tried to catch the bomb in a container on top of the plane.
Guess what the bomb struck the prop, gained momentum and took out the fin and rudder. Luckily it wasn't the elevator, or I wouldn't have managed to land safely. Not one of your better ideas Fixed Wing :D |

That does sound like a good challenge!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Thanx Nosram. Greatly appreciated.

Roll rate?????
How do you make this plane roll faster? I have it set up in accordance with the instructions and even on high rates the plane is slow to roll left and right. Can you guys recommend any thing to make it more agile or am I stuck with a roll every 1-1.5 seconds? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thunderbolt P47 - Have you tried setting up ailevators? A 9C transmitter or equivalent will allow you to slave each elevator half to the same side aileron. I was sceptical until I tried it, thinking that the small span of the elevator would reduce it's effectiveness in roll. However, probably because of slipstream effect close in to the fuselage, I found that it makes a significant difference. It also results in much greater roll control availability when hovering. I am assuming that you have maxed out your aileron travel, all the way to the mechanical limit. have fun flying.

in dire need of help....
i just recently decided to start flying again...got rid of all my on-road and off-road r/c stuff and got a u can do 3d 60 sized plane...also got a 9C...now...when i flew before, it was with a super7 and a rookie high wing..now i got to learn computer mixing and stuff and how to program..
is theere a guide anywhere? i read the review, but i am lost on half of the terms, and i have not the slightest idea where to start as far as learning terms and actual settings.. am getting ,91 surpassII for engine and some 5625's for servos... please advise..anything will be usefull.... thanks in advance... birdie :) |

Careful with those 5625's. I've seen threads about it locking up in the radio forum. I don't use them but somethin that you might want to be aware of. No flames intended........

I am confident the other competing brands are good (reminds me of Chevy vs. Ford debates.....) but I have only experience (what little I have ;-)) with the Futaba. I have not been able to locate a guide written by someone else other than the original manual of course. If you find one please let me know. The Futaba FAQ is also a good source of info regarding the 9C. And nothing beats basic airmanship. Every field has a flier or two who could take a U CAN DO and fly it with a 1980's AM 4 channel as if he was competing in a TOC type competition. But for now I'll take all the microchip help I can get! Rick |
Roll Rates
BLT,
Thanks for the great suggestions. Sounds like that is the way to go. I have a Futaba Super 8 so I think that I am in business. Do you have any switch recommendations. I think I want to experiment with the spolieron option too so that I can elevator / parachute the plane also. Will definitely give the ailevators a whirl tomorrow while flying. See ya in the sky! U Can Do 3D
Have a Magnum 91 fs in mine and just in positioning the battery and receiver no extra weight was needed. Only thing I don't like is that the covering rips real easy wherever it makes the tight bends. Ugggggh!
|
U Can Do 3D
I went with the standard setup for rudder , but this stops me getting enough throw on elevator as it is stopped by rudder pushrod , how did ye guys get around this? can i just cut the corner off elevator without affecting flight characteristics?
|
U Can Do 3D
just relocate the Rudder servo down to the bottom of the plane, and use pull - pull cables, this will leave room for the elevators to move full travel. the location of the rudder servo will be where ever the fuse is wide enough to clear the width of the servo. then put covering over the area where the servo was located, somewhere near the first 1,000 post there is some pictures of the location.
