Joe it may be a good idea to add tank support or thin wire to keep from coming apart. When I full the tank when it is full I seal off the vent line and add SEC to top off the tank it adds pressure to the tank. Other wise it takes the muffler pressure to long to pressurize it. Engine dies if not done right. I have the Saito 100 as well. Cline himself helped me with that tip.

Coo, they are the same ones that I picked up. Now, when I pull on the fuel line to remove it from the nipple it seems to come off just as easily with the clamp on or off. Standard fuel line with the 3/32" clamps. It looks like they will hold better on the plastic tee's, but don't seem to offer anything as far as the pipe on the tank and the muffler nipple goes, Joe

I think they really do a good job on any connection that has a lip like the T and L connector of the cline. The only area they didn't seem to help mine much was on the connection to the fuel tank intake and fuel tank exhaust. Since those are straight tubing there is nothing for the clamp to grab on to. I solved that my leaving a fairly large amount of the tubing stick out of the tank. That way I was able to push the fuelline way up the tubing and it created a large surface to stick to. My tank is back near CG so I didn't have any issues with the long tubing sticking out through the firewall and kitting the engine.

I've been using mine like that with no issues. I guess I may not even have needed it, but since I had the clamps I thought it couldn't hurt.

Thanks, I'm going to follow through with the clamps. I wonder if I could flair the ends of the intake and exhaust or maybe just put longer ones in as you explained. Thanks again, Joe

coomarlin.. is that picture of you doing a harrier? I have heard that it is hard to do with the ucd 60. What is the secret. I have spoilerons.. and I know my cg is not back far enough, but.. how far back is your cg? How much deflection for your spoilerons (aileron and elevator)... and... do you get wing rock?

Nova flier I have a electric fuel pump I pump the tank two seconds after closing off vent line to pump the tank all the way up and build up pressure in it with fuel instead of waiting for tank pressure to build it up. Joe try to add a small bevel to the outside of the brass tubing using a small Philip head screw driver it will keep the tubing from sliding off. I haven't had any problems with that way. And I have a YS 140 L that has tons of pressure as well.

Seriously.. a ys 1.40 on the ucd .60? I used a ys1.10 and it is way overpowered. Do you have a hard time keeping that thing sitting still?

Try this....

take the tank down to the LHS and find the K & S brass tubing selection rack. Locate the closest size tubing that just slips over the tubing you have in your tank. Buy that peice and take it home. At home cut off a small peice, say a 1/4" and solder it onto the lines comming out of the tank.

voila' instant barb. WILL NOT pull off with a clamp.

Shogun, thats the best one yet. I think I was just about to think of that, I could be wrong. Now there is only one problem.....I use aluminum tubing after reading, a while back, about some kind of reaction with brass and nitro fuel. Only I cannot remember the article and the reason I changed. Anybody know anything about that? Joe

An old wives tale that has it's roots in "some" fact......

If your going to be storing the plane for any long periods of time I would think it could be a good idea to drain the tank and even clean it out, or possibly pitch it and plan on installing a new one at the time the plane is pulled from mothballs....

But this assumes that you would be storing it for years, not months like many of us do over the winter.

Make life easy on yourself and just use the brass tubing, and get the Du-Bro bender, worth every penny.

I have to admit that the picture looks better than it really was. It was an "attempt" at doing a harrier :) I'm no 3D expert, but I try. My CG is at 6.25" and I do use spoilerons. I still end up with a bunch of wing rock and harriers do not turn out very well on the UCD. At least with me at the controls. I can't hold it very long at all before it starts rocking. The harrier is a known weakness of the UCD.

Co 16 Y I have my YS 140 on the Fun World 3-D I liked my something extra so much after 200 runs I sold it. I saw one like this at the club and had to get it. It is just like the something extra but with great tracking the slow inverted flat spins are sweet.

Yeah.. I have heard that about this plane (ucd 60 not doing harriers well). At first thought it was not enough aft cg and spoileron deflection. I was hoping you figured out the right combo. Does not make sense that everyone says the .46 does it very well. Seems like these planes would fly very close to the same. Thanks for the reply coomarlin.

Gotcha SteveL. I guess I read to much into that. My jaw dropped when I thought you had a 1.40 in there. HA. I was going to round that back to all the firewall issues people had run into with this plane and ask what you did on yours.... but.. nevermind.

Fun World sounds like a fun plane.

The YS 140 is big, but if you want to see some cool mods do a search on U CAN 3D W/120 + ENGINES. I think its in the 3D flying forum and on page 4 there is a MVVS 1.6 gas W/pipe. Joe

All of the wood is 5/16" thick. Just use the plans to measure the other dimensions to match the wood to the design. If you have any questions, just let me know.
