:)Oh, one more thing. I think I'm gonna build mine with a pull/pull rudder. I just did one that way in the Yak. Also, I'm tired of tail heavy planes. On the Yak I had to put the battery in the motor box to get it to balance on the very rear of the recommended CG. The Funtana was impossible to balance with out major surgery. On this one I'm starting with the pull/pull and then if I can't balance it without adding weight I'll go to the tail mounted servo.

Here is a photo the modified tail assembly. I just shaped some small flat stock aluminum.This setup work well so far.

Also I am going to cut the threaded rod on the rudder horn assembly, because it seems to interfere with the elevator halves at full deflection. since the ball links are threaded in a bit this should be fine.

We found a new weak point on the Showtime. The Top SFGs are very weak at the base and will break on hard moves that put high loads on them. We pinned the Top SFGs by drilling a hole along side the mounting threaded rod and installed a 1.5" long rod glue in. This makes the top part a lot stronger.

:)Spacewalker. I did that last night...but I can't remember what weight it was. But it was 1 1/2 ozs lilghter than stock and I think it will fit right on. It is the same height to the wheel axle but the tire is quite a bit smaller. I think somewhere in the 1/2" range is how much lower the tail will sit. Yes, I will weight it again and also weigh the stock wheel and post both. I can do that during my lunch hour and I'll post the results. The Sig one really does look pretty good to me. The stock wheel seems to large.

:)Another thing I noticed. The servo holes were all cut out and the covering ironed down. Very nice. The build quality is getting much better. Of course on the other hand, this airplane was quite a bit more money than my others, well, except the Yak. It is very impressive though.

put your rudder servo in last like he said.. i had to put mine in the tail.it will save you some time putting the pull pull together and then realizing, got to go to the tail after.

Dilled, Are you using a piece of music wire to reinforce the SFG's? If so does this rod connect into the bottom SFG also?

are we not seeing any weights yet due to the fact that this is a heavy plane for the wing area? my friends weighs quite a bit more than my funtana 90 with the same set up. i was thinking about a os 91fx for this. but i dont think so . and i am sure not going to take my ys 120 out of my funtana. anyway some weights from you guys would be nice.

I haven't posted a weight because I don't have a scale but the 91 is not the right motor. Mine has a Saito 120 with a 16x4W APC and it flies great and lands even better.

:)Spacewalker. The stock Showtime tailwheel weighs .80 ozs on my digital scale. That's a lot lighter than I thought. The Sig tailwheel weighs .60 ozs. I'm pretty sure all the difference would be in the tire only. The tail would sit 3/4 lower with the Sig tail wheel. Here's a picture.

:)watso. What basis are you saying the Showtime is heavier than a Funtana. Early reports don't seen to reflect that. I've heard some say about 9lbs 6 ozs with a heavy motor and someone said high 8lbs range. A Funtana is 10 lbs stock with the Saito 150 and 9 1/2 lbs with 110 and some lightening stuff (wheels, mini servos, landing gear, etc.) My hope is that this plane is much lighter than a Funtana. If your friends Showtime is heavier than your Funtana, how much does your Funtana weigh and how much does his Showtime weigh? You should have that information. I won't know what mine weighs until I finish it.

OS 160 version will fly this weekend. Gonna have to re-drill the firewall to fit the motor.

My Showtime weighs 8 lbs. 14 oz. with all gear and an OS 1.08, ready to fly with the SFG's in place 2100mah battery pack, HiTec 645MG's all around and a rather heavy metal spinner, old C&B Associates very thick wall.

The bolt that holds the SFG's together, is a hook bolt. The hook is in the first 1/2" of the base of the upper SFG. You can drill a hole along one side of the hook bolt and then put med. CA in the hole and pushed the music wire into the hole about 1.5" long.

Came off the Vision and the Showtime set up went on the Vision. Son's idea. BTW he built the plane, not me. |

BTW he built the plane, not me. infact when i set the wheelpants up it didnt have the tailwheel on so now they are kind of high in the rear.. but found out it helps on our field. on my U-can-do they were tilting down in the rear and the grass was tearing them up in the back where it drags through the cutout for the wheel. |

:)Ynot. That looks like a standard Central Hobbies tailwheel. They are pretty nice. In fact that is what I put on my Mayhem and I was thinking about one on the Showtime but decided to use the Mayhem wheel instead. The stock tailwheel seems to big for me. My trainer had less rudder than the tail wheel would have.
