RE: Showtime
I would say that 2 ch RX (which is what I use) or matchbox (if you don't have the capability on the Rx/Tx) is the best way to go. You need to be able to set the ATV to match. Alternatively, you can program your servos if you've got digital... but that's more of a pain in the butt if you ask me

RE: Showtime
I wish it was my elevator, but that would be too easy. I'm seriouse for you guys that have had to use alot of left aileron trim, use some spoileron so that when you are at full elevator your aileron is at least in line with the wing and not below. You can use as much up as you like, if you like a lot so that it waterfalls real tight you can mix it in. I only set it to stop dropping the wing on HAOA. This is not for the good flying Showtimes only for the ones that want to drop a wing in certain maneuvers. So if you are happy with your Showtime great, if not, you might want to try to mix in some spoileron.

RE: Showtime
For people using the YS 110, are you using a pull-pull or push-pull set up for the rudder?
|
RE: Showtime
flapperons would make the waterfall tight, not spoilerons??
|
RE: Showtime
You'll never know till you try it, you know you want to.:D You want a little... spoileron........just..a little....a little...bit.....of....spoileron.

RE: Showtime
How hard is it to mount the cowl in this airplane? Is it a lot like doing it on the Funtana 90?
|
RE: Showtime
:)I thought the cowl mounted easily. About average. the only problem I had was I didn't get the engine mounted far enough forward the first time. There isn't much extra room front to back. Be sure you get the engine mounted at the prescribed length. I think it was 5 3/4". My engine is about as far forward as you can get it. I also had to cut a pretty big hole to get the muffler through. Other than that, piece of cake.
Thanks Barry |
RE: Showtime
ORIGINAL: Nickolas How do you set up your dual elevator? Y-harness, 2 channels on Rx or match box? I was planning to use a two channels on Rx, what is your opinion? |
RE: Showtime
Hey Barry,
In your Showtime/YS 110, did you use a pull-pull cable or mount the servo in the tail? |
RE: Showtime
:)I mounted my rudder servo using the pull/pull. I mounted my battery about 4 inches in front of my wing tube (pictures on about page 17, 18 or 19 I think) Mine balanced at 7 3/8" just a hair ahead of the recommended 7 7/16" I've just left mine there. I love it just the way it is. It will do anything 3D with the best of them. Better than anyplane I have. Including the ---. What a sweet plane. I have a lot of pictures if you care to go back and look at them. I also did a review on this plane vs the Yak vs the Mayhem. My advice is not to post anything on that thread and bring it forward as it will open a can of worms I don't want to get involved in. If you care to read it though I think it would be informative to you.
Thanks Barry |
RE: Showtime
:)page 18 post 448 shows the radio compartment of my airplane.
Thanks Barry |
RE: Showtime
Nice, what servos are you using?
|
RE: Showtime
:)I'm using Hitec HS-5625 on the elevators, HS-5645 on the rudder, HS-645 on the ailerons and an HS85B on the throttle. I use 4.8v 1650mA NIMH battery. I have plenty of torque with these servos. They fly the plane nicely, and it's a riot to fly. Very fun.
Thanks Barry |
RE: Showtime
:)Yak vs. Showtime vs Mayhem is the name of the thread where I reviewed the Showtime. It is found on page 7 of the 3D Forum. I'm not sure how to make that address a link but it doesn't matter. If you'd like to read the reiew I posted there it is.
THanks Barry |
RE: Showtime
Barry,
I assume that stock tank is holding up pretty well with the YS? I'm trying to decide which to put in there. The LHS is out of 16 oz Hayes right now. They're all i've ever used with ys's, so i'm kind of unsure of the stock one. -Alan |
RE: Showtime
I'm using a 14 oz high pressure tank specially for YS by Tetra. You can't be wrong with that. MK produces something similar. I have also tried Dubro with YS witn no problem at all.
|
RE: Showtime
:)I'm using the stock tanks in Funtana (gave away, don't own it anymore) Showtime, UCD60, Hanger 9 Ultra Stick 120, Yak, and the Mayhem. Some of those are DuBro tanks but they are the stock one with the plane. I've heard a lot bad about the stock tanks not holding up to the pressure of the YS. So far, I haven't had a singel problem. I'll keep using stock until I get burned. Shouldn't take too much longer. But the stock tanks work, at least for me.
THanks Barry |
RE: Showtime
Anyone using JR 125MG's in this bird. I have a Fromeco Relion doing nothing and I might put those all the way around on 6 volts. I bought a YS 110 today and I've been looking at this one. Probably go with a Hitec 5945MG on rudder if I don't use the JR's.

RE: Showtime
Thanks Barry, good info.

RE: Showtime
Ben here is my setup (have not flown the plane yet as it is under construction), after very careful consideration of my options:
Engine:YS-110FZ Servos: JR digital DS-8425MG (same as 8411MG) on elevator and rudder, Hitec digital 5945MG on ailerons, Hitec HS-81MG on throttle Battery: NMP 2400mAh LiIon 2s 7.4V (This battery is really light for its capacity) Voltage regulator:Smart-Fly at 5.2V Tank:Tetra high pressure 14 oz tank Spinner: Tru-turn 2 1/2'' FAI Special Cut I'm thinkking of replacing the alloy wing tube with a carbon one if I find a relativelly cheap one, and I will probably replace the wheels with some ligher ones. I want the plane to be a 3D monster and fly as light as possible. Photos will come after final assembly. |
RE: Showtime
Hey Barry,
I've seen a picture of DrumBum's cowl cut out, can I see one of yours? |
RE: Showtime
:)Sure page 18 & 19 posts 450 and 451. Shows two views of my cowl.
Thanks Barry |
RE: Showtime
Almost done with mine. :) What did you guy's AUW come out to? I'm at 8 lbs 15 oz - dry, no SFG's. Heavier than I expected, but aren't they always? [:o]
Setup: YS 110 hs5625's on elev & ail. hs5645 on rudder hs81 on throttle 6.0v 2500mah -Alan |
RE: Showtime
Do you guys think 142 in/oz. of torque will be enough for the rudder on this bird? I'm considering those new JR 125MG's for this one. Plus I can get those purple anodized servo arms from air wild. Oh, and what do you guys think the length should be on the servo arms? I might just use my 5945MG's and 5955TG on this one though. Sure it would be an overkill, but they're paid for and center well.
|
RE: Showtime
:)Mine came in at 8 lbs 12 ozs without SFGs. I'm pretty much stock although I did use some bigger (3") ultra lite tires and I left the wheel pants off. I'm using the 110. I think my SFGs weigh 2.4 ozs. I'm happy with it under 9 lbs. I was fearful this would be another Funtana. I wish it was closer to 8lbs but hey, what can ya do.
Thanks Barry |
