:)Yeah, I added one washer's worth of RH thrust to mine after I had flown it several times. Mine really needed it. But that was enough. I like if fine now. Helped in hover, uplines, etc.

Well...I'm going to fly it this morning so I can test some more... it was calm last night when I was flying and I think it could use just a scosh... I'll add one washer...

:)Yes...One washer under each screw on the Left Side of the motor mount as if you were seated in the canopy.

The washers I use are just average washer I get at the hardware store.

I hate to hear your 1.08 does not perform well on the Showtime. My ShowTime with a 1.08 inverted and using a stock muffler, 16 x 5 Zinger and 15% Omega is literally a rocket. It will jerk it out of a hover rather nicely with plenty of power. I'm not sure if all 1.08's are the FSR version, mine is an older one, about a 1992 model with many gallons run thru it. One thing about the 1.08 series, at least mine, is that shipped from the factory there is a brass insert in the carb venturi that restricts the opening to allow the motor to be used without muffler pressure and the owners manual plainly states: "Orinary suction feed is sufficient for this carburettor. If, however, higher output is required for pattern flying, it is advisable to remove the carburettor insert. In this case, a muffler pressurised fuel system should be used."

You also stated your 1.08 is a new engine. Being a ringed engine, break in could take longer to develop max power. Maybe that and the fact you could have the insert still in the carb could be adding to your lack of power.

Welp....

Flew this morning and found a major problem with my Showtime....


The landing gear is on the wrong side!:D

Did a beautiful waterfall.. (man this plane flips sooooo smoothly!) into an inverted Harrier... and it was perfect.... gorgeous harrier, inverted, relatively low... stable as anything.....
powered up and out nicely....
Flew so nicely inverted that I am sure the gear are on the wrong side......

or maybe it needs gear on both sides.......?!?![sm=spinnyeyes.gif]


or maybe...Hey, nevermind....its 5:00 somewhere!:D

more trim flights this morning before the wind picked up....

adding a washer for right thrust was the ticket..

now... for level flight, I need about 2 clicks of aileron... which seems to maybe be hurting me in some manuevers (or am I imagining it)

is there a way to change the incidence of the wing slightly, so the ailerons do not need any trim?
Enlarge the rear pin hole a bit so the wing could then rotate slightly and then redo the hole in the new position?

anyone done this or noticed this
I think I would need to move one wing about 1/8"

does my rambling make sense?

:)exter_acres...You might be able to move the aileron that much by just using a sealing iron and a friend to hold it while you iron the covering.

It seems mine will warp that much when I leave them in the cold or hot. I sometimes have to trim a bit now and then for no apparent reason. That's always what I thought caused it.

Hmmm... but if I just change the aileron... I'll be back in the same boat of needing some trim for level flight... thats why I was thinking the a wing incidence change may be needed...
so the plane flies level with the ailerons completely even with the wing

or am I barking up the wrong tree?

That would be too much work for me :D. Sometimes wings get warped because of the covering becoming loose and such. You should make sure that's not the case first before you do the other modifications.

Hi all,

I just got my Showtime, second hand, and I have it almost ready to fly.

In the front is a Saito 150 swinging an APC 17-6[X(]

I have Hitec 6965's on all of the control surfaces.

The only problem I have is the stab has a little movement, it rocks a little. I thought about rotating the tube and re-drilling and tapping the retaining screws, hopefully making the halves tighter to the fuse. The movement is minimal, but is there.

Has anybody else seen this? This is my first plane with removable stabs, hence the lack of knowledge.

Hey Ken,

You're going to LOVE that plane. Unless you are planing to remove the stab for transport or some other reason, I'd suggest...EPOXY.

:)kennyandannie...My Showtime does the same thing. I can rotate/move very slightly the stabalizer. It dosen't seem to be a problem, but it is a little bothersome. When I get time I think I'm just gonna glue mine. I don't plan on removing the stab anyway. My other planes don't have removeable stabs and I don't think my Showtime will in the near future.

Just use some foam tape along the edge, it helps seat the stabilizer and stops the rocking.

I made a 1/16 ply shim to take up the space in the stab. But after a couple of flights it came lose again so I epoxy it.

Problem fixed no more slop

Well I just recieved Showtime #2. I bought Joebobs from him. The last one i used my YS-110 but on this one i think im going to use My YS-140L . the only problem is im moving and doing work on new house so getting the time to put my gear in it will be hard:eek:

I think I'm going to fly it like it is, just not slap it around real hard. Before I put it through it's paces, to extreme, I'll probably epoxy the stab and make it permanant. I do want to fly it first, just in case I need to make a incidence change.

Sounds like the anti rotation pins are loose in the holes in the fuse
side. Simple fix, just CA a little balsa in the holes for the pins, then
file out the hole a little at a time untill the pins fit snug in the holes.

Once everting fits nice harden the hole with CA.

No need to epoxy the stabs in place, what happens if you damage
on side and need to replace it?

You've got a good point Advent, I will look into that fix. I might need to change the stab incidence, so using your repair might allow me to kill two birds with one stone, so to speak.

She lives!!

I moved the CG back a tad, and hovering is now nearly effortless. I was just grinning ear to ear when I decided to pullout... a funny noise came, and soon I saw my prop flying off (didn't put double nut on the saito). $#@%$^# I thought to myself as my ST went down nose first in an effort to gain air speed. I started to make a pull, but then I pulled too hard on the elevator, causing an Aunt Jemima (aka Pancake). The gear flexed and delaminated... but is still intact. Everthing else is ok also except for the firewall coming off a bit, and one of the SFG has a little crack. I couldn't believe how much of this bird survived that Aunt Jemima from 20 feet.!!!

So now I know, it flies great, and also durable as heck!
