OK, I'm drooling now.:D The Evolution's gonna have to find a new home. Where'd you put the ignition battery, and what's the capacity / voltage? Thanks A LOT!

RE: Showtime

i had to put it under the rec pack to balence at 7 7/8"
6.0v 2000Mah it will run it for 7 or 8 flights

most of the small holes were for a magnum 120 that was in there

Cool, my Evo 100nx needs $100 in repairs, so I'm going to replace it with the BCMA. Do you think there's enough clearance between the firewall and engine for a pitts muffler? I'm trying to reduce the amount of cowl-hacking.

I haven't been able to take the time to read this whole thread. How is the Saito 125 on this plane?

just looked at mine
i dont think a pitts muffler will fit
there is only 1.75" between the engine and fire wall

RE: Showtime

That sucks, guess I'll use the stock one until I can find one that will fit.

Rclement, the 125 should be fine, but a lot of guys seem to prefer the YS 110. Maybe someone w/ more knowledge of this set-up will chime in...

Does anybody know that engine, prop and fuel Kyle used in the video that is posted in the RCU Review by Richard Poe July 2006 on the Showtime 4D 90?
It looks like a YS 110 on 30%???? If Kyle was using a OS120 II WOW, I just sold mine to get a YS 110 and my OS 120 II pumped ran great. I am finishing up my ST 90 with the YS 110 and hope to have the same preformance as Kyle

I think it's an O.S. FS-120 Surpass pumped. The prop was an APC 16x4W. ?Fuel?

38, did you say the ignition batt. was under the RX batt? I thought that would cause some issues.

Goin together pretty good...[8D]

RE: Showtime

ok2fly, the reviewed Showtime had a OS 120 II pump motor but the plane in the video may be a different plane.

Well, in that case, I have no idea.:D

Some pictures of my Showtime with a YS 110 & Slimline muffler. I had to change the firewall and create a air exit duct. I am using a Hyde mount and wanted to keep the cowl clean looking. At first it looked like the muffler would clear the firewall but I had to cut away too much and then just gave up trying to notch it in and went with a simple exit hole. I hope the extra work will help with cooling.

RE: Showtime

Cool, maybe I'll do that when I get a pitts.

RE: Showtime

ok2fly, Did you decide on the BCMA 26 with stock muffler? I was going to use the 26 but went back to the YS 110 to save weight and the cowl cutting. I was also going to cut away the firewall for the BCMA 26 and decided it was too much work. But you can see that the YS 110 did not save me any work. I think I have enough room for a warp around Pitts if I use the BCMA 26.

Yes, I am using the stock muffler. It appears to be a slim design, so I will only have to cut a square about 2"x2.5" in order to clear the cowl. I was thinking about a pitts style muffler, but that would require some extensive firewall modification (a little more than what you did for the YS). There's a little over an inch of clearance between the firewall and engine. With the modifications u made, a wraparound pitts might work out.

The BCMA is relatively heavy, so I put the battery in the tail to avoid using lead. I think the motor should be able to pull its own weight once it's broken-in.

RE: Showtime

Gonna run the BCMA today! I'm going to try it in the backyard. The grass might need trimmin'.:D

OK2fly, good to see someone familiar here. I was wondering about the CG, I'm used to low-wing planes and balancing them upside down, I thought that mid to high wing planes required the plane to be upright when balancing?. I was looking at the marks the previous owner made and they were on the bottom and it says in the manual to mark the top. I'm confused, lol, what is the proper way to balance the Showtime?

Thanks Shane

RE: Showtime

I balanced mine upside down. I'm still not sure if this is correct because the Showtime looks like a midwing plane so... I found a good article on this in case you haven't read it, but I still have no idea:

http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...?article_id=84
http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/a...article_id=601

Basically, a majority of the plane's weight should be below the balance point during balancing.

I was looking at the pics of where you mounted the batts., did that placement help to get the CG close. Also what size prop were you using?

OK2fly, those links are interesting, except now I'm really confused. It states to balance it with the weight below the wing tips, that would mean to do it with the wheels down. Think I will set it inverted then try it inverted and see what I end up with.. Almost done..
