Nope. It's a smooth, reliable, and lightweight engine, but it's weak. I thought it was just breaking-in, but after 4 gallons it's performing at its best, and I need more power to do some DOD stuff.;) The BCMA would do well in a sport/scale application, but not really for 3D.

Yep, and for the price of 1 Evolution, I can have 2.5 CRRC's!

OK2FLY:

What props did you try? What kind of performance were you getting? Were you able to pull out of a hover?

I posted videos awhile back of mine with the BCMA 26 in it and I was really happy with the combo. I would not want anything heavier, personally.

RE: Showtime

I've tried APC 16X4-16x8-16.5X5 / XOAR 18x6 / Master Airscrew 16x8...basically, whatever was in the garage. The max rpm I got was with the 16x4 @ 8,900. The 16.5x5 gave the most thrust. Hovering was done just under full throttle and there was a teeny bit of pullout or none at all.

I've seen your vid. and it looks good, but I'm not geting those results. My engine is fully broken-in and running great. My dad wants to use it in a biplane, so that's the main reason I'm switching engines. The CRRC is only slightly heavier, but it puts out oodles more power.

What are the specs on the CRRC?

today was a nice day so took my Pulse out for a day's flying, so only managed to get the motor in today.

think the MVVS looks good having the red head.

cowl needs a bit more work, but thats as far as i got

:Dman i am loving just looking at that baby! i hear that motor is no joke when it comes to power! at least one it breaks in:)

Yeah!! This seams to abe a serious power stuff!! Keep going!!!

Patto 07-01-2008 01:53 AM

RE: Showtime

That is a PRETTY engine!! Why didn't you mount it upside-down? You would have had to trim the cowl a little less I think, but maybe you already tried fitting it that way and it was protruding more.

Either way, it's going to be a head-turner.

RE: Showtime

it would have been less cutting but i want the pipe to go under the fuse.
i did think about using the inverted muffler, but i think that would have meant removing some of the fuselage at the bottom

NICE!

Hello all, I am the proud owner and pilot of a Showtime 4D, currently with a Saito 125 in the nose. The plane is awsome! The Saito is a awesome story unto itself...together they make marvelous music! I have flown the 4D with a Saito 100 that was impressive but the 125???...Well what can I say...the same dimensional size as the 100 but with an additional .3hp. Might sound like a advertisement but I've now owned and flown the Showtime 50 w/a Saito 82 along with my 4D and these planes can make even a hack look like a seasoned pilot...(within reason).

Let it be known that I don't ordinarily get involved in these threads but I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy these aircraft so much that I had to weigh in my humble opinion.

Shiny side Up!!
Tlrider

Welcome to RCU, tlrider. I thought about a 4 stroke in my Showtime, but I went gas and never looked back.

edit: why was that edited?

Well, after some work I finally have smoke on my showtime. I went with a sullivan skywriter pump. I got a chance to test it out tonight in my front yard. The neighbors don't have to worry about the squiters tonight. I can't wait until I get the chance to try it in the air. Might even get a fes pictures.

I had a saito 100 in a showtime 90, it was way under powered, I just put in an OS120AX, we'll see how that goes

Has anybody had any aileron problems? My right one broke off about 6-8 inches from the end.(While in flight) Boy what a great flyer. I never could tell it by the way it flew. I'd not even got nervous if the others would have just said to land and told me what had happened. Instead of screaming something came off. Boy that gets your bp righ on up there. I did not see it come off. I heard a strange noise, but one of our other pilots saw what happened. They walked out in the bean field and found it. I have made repairs and am fixing to rehinge the aileron. She'll be ready to fly again soon.

Just to clarify: Did the aileron come apart or did the hinges fail and it simply came off? The stock CA hinges included with the ST90 are a known, well-documented problem and should definitely not be used.

Tower has this plane for $199.00. Does the plane still have the snapping issue when you yank on the elevator to hard ?

RE: Showtime

P-Diddy,
Some of the guys at the field said that it looked like the hinge had failed. The one on the very end was broke in half along the hinge line. and the wood had seperated from the hinge on the next one in. Are you using robaart type hinges or CA hinges?

Zippi,
Mine was purchased used two months ago. I never saw the guy I bought it from fly it, but I feel like it is a newer version. Mine does not have that snap tendency that everyone talks about. Mine flies great at slow and fast speeds even with 2/3 of the aileron missing.
Thanks
Alan

Right before the aileron broke my buddy did some beautiful rolling circles with it. Could this have weakend the hinges? Also do you think I should replace all the hinges.

RE: Showtime

put those blue ca hinges are there i thnk sig make them they are great! that is just a typical ca hinge whie failure nothing else...... that is why its best not to fly anyones planes as when they start having issues it always revert back to:
