Great video:)!!! The scene transistions are way cool as well as the sunset flights with the Moon!! Sound track was also mighty nice. I hope to learn those flying skills with my Showtime (hope to have mine completed this weekend) that you have so aptly demo'ed[8D].

You also sucked me in to getting one of your Ball caps.

That's a very cool video. I've got my Funtana built & waiting (still:eek:) for an engine and radio gear. I think I may have to get a showtime as well after seeing that. I'll have plenty of flying to do next spring then!!.........And by the looks of things, I'm going to need alot of practice to do this kinda stuff. [:-]

Saito 1.00 users! I need some advice... I'm doing finish assembly now (this has been the best arf I have built yet... everything fit wonderfully!)

and I am trying to figure out balance.. I set up a pull-pull system.
Fuel tank at the wing tube (using a regulator) battery and Rx in front of the fuel tank right up at the fire wall....
and it still seems really tail heavy,,,,

I would hate to add weight since i'm using the saito 1.00...but did others come out really tail heavy??

My guess since the YS-110 needed to have the rudder in pull pull and my throttle servo had to be just behind the firewall that if it was like mine and the saito being lighter that it is entirely possible

I think I will be OK...
the prop wasn't on when I measured before [:@]

and I did have a 2800mAh li-ion pack in there...
took that out and wedged a 1650 nimh pack way up against the firewall and I think I may be ok....

looks like I am having a problem. Tonight I tried to finalize it and run it up. As I attached the canopy I noticed 3 of the 4 screws dont line up. hmm..looks like I will be calling H9. I might try anothre solution but I have not figured anything out for it. Im also a bit dissapointed, this airplane went together brutifully

Hi,

Can somebody please tell me if the OS 1.08 will fit under the cowling of the showtime with the
Bisson inverted pitts muffler.

I would like to see some under cowl pics with this engine if possible?

you really need only 2screws to hold that thing together. So I woulnd't stop a maiden just because of that

Mine did the same thing.. I forced a line up. after first day of flying there was so much force on the screws that the vibration from my motor popped the aluminum angles loose. when i glued it back i did the alignment myself by bolting it on while epoxy dried and problem was solved ( dont use too much epoxy or it will glue the canopy down to the fuse)

The O.S. 1.08 will fit under the cowling. As for the bisson pitts muffler.....that I cannot vouch for. If it's much wider than the 1.08 itself.....I think it would be a tight fit. My buddy's that had the 1.08 in it barely fit under the cowling with a PICA in cowl side mount exhaust. It was very tight.

Sam,

I used the OS 1.08 with the Slimline pitts style and I had to move the engine forward about 3/8 in. The engine fits completely under the cowl and with the Bisson style muffler mounted to the side I think it might fit without doing a lot of mods. the cowl or moving the engine on the mount. My only concern was enough airflow out of the cowl to let the heat out. Good luck

Is the gap between the spinner and the cowl large now because you had to push the motor forward or is it still only a
couple of millimeters.

I thought about cutting the metal guides off and realigning them myself but I ran into a quandry when i tried to figure out the best glue to put them back together. JB Weld?

I can force 2 screws to lineup but thats it and I know I am going to have the vibration issue as well. *sigh....*

Can't you slighty enlarge the holes on the fuse. Mine were off (low) just a little and that worked for me.
Also, use nylon screws to avoid vib. problems. I believe they are 4-40s.

I considered enlarging the holes but I was concerned with the screws then moving around the larger hole and causing it to route out even larger with the vibration. I will see if I can find some 4/40 nylons, not sure if the olhs carries those

I had my maiden this morning.. Wow... great flyer even with the Saito 1.00... not a power house but still very fun...
Balanced great... but still "felt" tail heavy.....
Much to trim and work on and today was too windy to really get a good feel...

but after only 2 flights, 2 of the hatch/canopy screws (mine lined up fine) were gone....
they were in tight, but the vibration knocked them out.....

would the nylon bolts help?

:)exeter...Congratulations on your maiden flight. Pretty neat airplanes. I check my canopy bolts after every flight. They're famous for coming loose.

What was your AUW with the Saito? What prop do you use with it?

Great plane and very cool to fly.
