GEntlemen,
I think the fact the D V and D I has gotten rid of some dead weight that change is on the horizon for us all. I think that D.B. could look at the recent results and not read them as a win for himself, but that we want change on the local level and received while sending himn a clear message that we want change at the top also, but are giving him one more chance. The collective voices have been heard, even if the results did not reflect them all the way up. Let's allow D.B. the opportunity to do with these results as he may see fit. He is an intelligent man, and has gone far in his life, I fo one am willing to give him a shot. Congrats goes to D V and D I for taking it back to the people and Congrats goes to all those who put themselves out there and gave us a chance to have a choice in this election.
Time will fix all problems, patience is the key.

When Dave B gets two votes for one for Dave M, he's not going to see it as being given one more chance. Any intelligent man will see this 2:1 margin as an endorsement for what he's been doing, and a mandate to continue in the same manner.
I also see it as saddening that the winner in D I got a total of eight votes fewer than the third place candidate in D V. Are there that many fewer members in D I, or is the member apathy that much greater there?
Bill.

Well, first, speaking as a state elected official and an intelligent man despite your remark to the contrary, the voter apathy is quite widespread in DI. I do not know that I would be able to say that it is greater than that of DV, simply because I would not have anyway of knowing that. What I can say is that when you have been under the whale long enough, you stop fighting when your lungs are crushed. Fortunately we killed the Whale in DI.
As an elected official I can tell you that a 2:1 victory is somewhat of a mandate, but given all the other changes made in this election and the fact that 30-50 poercent of all votes cast will in fact go to an incumbant by default the victory is less overwhelming, but I am not telling you anything any intelligent person does not already know. Looking just at DB's victory alone does not tell the whole story. If I win an election by any margin, but others in lesser positions are removed, especially after being in a position for 10 plus years, the first thought is uh oh the winds of change are blowing. The whole picture tells the tale. Do I honestly think DB will change....that I don't know. Would I like to think he will see the whole picture, yes I would. But as I mentioned previousley, only time will tell.

Sorry, you misunderstood me. I was not commenting on your intelligence, I was saying Dave B is smart enough to construe his margin as a mandate.
Voter inertia does play a part. If we consider 50% of the DB votes being from inertia, he still has all the cons cancelled by the remaining (matching) number of pro votes, so he'll keep on keeping on.
Bill.

Apology accepted,
I may well have misconstrued your meaning. However DB takes his win, the result is still the same, it is my hope that he uses his new term for good of all not for the few. Alas, Iam still rejuvenated by Di and DV victories. Saddened however by the ever present voter apathy. I really think that the voter turn out was just sad, not surprising, but sad.

I know it sounds nieve, but I have to have some hope here.
Alas, you do speak the truth past performance does equal future expectation.

Problem is that we need people to vote. I mean how hard is it, the ballot comes to your door. How much time or effort does it take to stroke a mark on a name and send it out
postage paid.
COME ON PEOPLE.
