Nope, not all of that handfull will have to be called.
Toolman's club had no SO email listed, yet Muncie used email with that club to conduct the business of getting that problem corrected. Of the few clubs that have SO's without their own email, I am guessing the overwhelming majority have at least 1 email listed for the other officers.
That's why I felt strongly enough about this to comment and continue to comment when folks essentially said "no big deal". They contacted the club via email to resolve the situation, but were holding up the charter because they couldn't email the SO specifically. Say what?!?

That's the detail that, IMO, makes the whole thing a ridiculous exercise on AMA's part. As I've said......a good idea with totally inept implementation.

I dont think anyone here would get too upset if the Muncie required there be at least 1 email for the club.

But its silly to kick aside all the other club email addresses
and deny a charter because one particular slot doenst have the clubs email redundantly written in.

Do you guys think a privately owned and operated business could survive in the real world with decision making like this?

I think I have been to several, both before and after computers. I do not recall meeting you there, so maybe I wasn't in a real world after all.

I would be very interested in your perceptions of a real world both without and with computers. I am one of those that declines real business using email. To me, AMA is Not real business. Buying for myself, and selling my own real estate through my trust is real business. When I owned a Hobby Shop, no computers then, that was real business. When under the pre-'84 tax laws, I could no longer use the profitable business for tax avoidance, then I sold it out. That was IMO real world as tax avoidance was my main concern. Even donating to a charity can be profitable when certain appraised amounts, and certain tax brackets all mesh into a certain situation. Again, not done with a computer but definitely "real world" business! [sm=idea.gif]

Now those were several of my ideas of small real world experiences. Fighting both military hierarchy, and federal hierarchy, while accomplishing over 20,000 professional flight hours, both in combat ready time and civil air carrier, was also a real business.
My machines did not need a computer as they had a PILOT in the cockpit. [>:]

I think so. Does the following scenario fit into it?

Club SO (and Chairman of 'The Board') had duly registered his email addy with AMA HQ. Received urgent Dave Brown sky-will-fall if you use LiPo batteries warning broadcast (critiqued in this forum by Fred Marks who actually knows something about LiPo batteries - use search). Posted copy of same on club bulletin board at the flying site leased from the County...........gratuitously providing an "interesting" read for County workers and Site Supervisor while they used the club's shade structure during their work breaks.

To really expedite the flow of information about the dangers of model airplanes, maybe HQ should require email addys for the site owners.

If you mean having a set of requirements and enforcing those requirements?

I think you might have it backwards for anything past a mom and pop shoe store and maybe not even them.

There are rules everywhere you turn in life. You don't pick and choose who follows the rules. 150,000 members and so far one with a gripe. Well, one that knows one that might have a gripe anyway.

I am enthralled by this concept of techno-fascism though. What are the defining traits? Are seatbelts T-F? Turn signals? What criteria is used in defining
TF?

As a returning club secretary since the internet, if the AMA says e-mail required for Safety coordinator he gets an e-mail address. What I'm wondering about now is why I was required to identify a club officer as the soul contact person (e-mail not required) for the club? Does this mean that all manners of club business/correspondence, except safety issues, go through the contact identified and listed on the AMA Web site for the club? Only the safety coordinator (not an elected officer) receives safety bulletins? By default the AMA is requiring a club to have E-mail access for club chartering. Why not the selected contact club officer? I would understand the club officer selected as the club contact person being required to have access to E-mail. BTW the contact persons e-mail is what I entered because our safety coordinator doesn’t do e-mail.

If you go to the AMA site all of this explained. The Safety Coordinators have alot of responsibility placed on them.

The ama reminds me of some of the unions, they want to do less an less work, but still get paid the same or more.

HA! ohoho man that is rich.
So much for the concept of getting out of the dark ages.
Only one email is required for the club, and it AINT the contact person??????

Clubs dont need emails,
non-club members dont need emails,
only the club SO's do

I did as you suggested, and searched on "Safety Coordinator." First on the list of returns was the 2009 Club Charter Kit. I scanned it and found this:
"In late 2008, the AMA Safety Committee developed an on-line incident report form. It is available only to
designated club safety coordinators and can be found in the “Members Only” section on the AMA Web site
at www.modelaircraft.org/membersonly/incident.aspx. This new tool will give the Safety Committee an
opportunity to establish common concerns and recurring problems throughout the country"

Why 'Members Only?" I thought the party line was that non-club flyers caused safety incidents. Is the purpose of the incident report (and SO's, as the report form is only available to them) to rat them out?

Just when you thought this forum couldn't get any more ridiculous, it does.

And before one of the bottom feeders (don't bottom feeders generally dine on excrement? Hmmm. Now it makes sense.) tells me that if I don't like it, scram and don't come back...... I have and probably won't.

All the treads on this forum end up this way. Look at the bright side it keeps them off the streets. Mike
