Man, I have the best customers in the world! Tom, thanks for getting this going, and everyone else for watching on. PS, Tom, you are picky... no bottom screws even, lol! You know, you could have just done the 4 main screws and left those off. It would have held it as is.
If you have any quesitons let me know. PS, you will be putting your batteries all the way up I'm guessing. The sbachs tend to have more weight in the tail then some others I've flown.
I would love to get some sukhoi's Raf -, but it's one project at a time. Speaking of which - I'm looking to get 1 or 2 more 30cc planes in the late winter early spring. These will be Redwing Planes through and through. We are trying to decide which. I'm thinking I may do an MXSR. Maybe another batch of Sbachs with new mods and color schemes. Anyone like Yellow!?
Anyway, if you guys have suggestions or ideas feel free to let us know. I would love to get your input.

I have a fiend with a Sukhoi that has the cowl screws that are also on the thrust line. He has to remove the wing every time he needs to remove the cowl. That sometimes gets a few choice words to come out of his mouth. He is a nice guy. Can you imagine what I would sound like if I had to take the cowl off at the field. That is why I omitted the screws in the middle and reworked the cowl ring.
I'm not really sure if I'm that picky. Well maybe a little. I would say that I'm pretty much set in my ways. Comes with old age I guess.[sm=lol.gif]
I realize that this is a first production run. So I just try to point out what I don't like. Then change it to what I do like. These ARFs have so little to do on them that I actually like changing things on them for the sake of doing something.
Here is another suggestion. I really like the decal sheet that comes with the kit. The only thing that its missing is a dash sticker. I also like the cockpit that comes with it. I have a pilot that will fit in there from a previously departed pane. He has been in rigorous flight training all summer.[X(] I guess I can let him back in the cocpit again.

how much area do you need to bring the sback in an the 30cc redwing mx in.
I've got some really tall trees about 300 to 350 ft from my 150 ft runway.

All jokes aside. The 30cc can be landed short with the power on. Just depends on your flying ability. If you are used to flying there. You shouldn't have any trouble.
I would need more room.[]

Hey Tim
Are the elevator and Aileron hinges pre glued. I can't pull them apart. The last time I did this without double checking the flight only lasted 4 minutes.[:@]

RE: Redwing 50cc Sboch
Thanks Tim. I had a H-( Extra this spring that I got new wings for and rebuilt the plane. I tugged on the Ailerons but they wouldn't budge. They both got into flutter and ripped the ailerons out. On inspection I found a drop of glue on each outside hinge. No glue at all on any of the other ones. That is why I asked.
I just piddled around with shrinking the covering and mounting some servos. The edges on the covering were sealed down nice. Just had a few wrinkles that came out easy. I was going to use some aluminum servo arms that I already had but they weren't long enough so I had to make up the servo arms that came with it. I like the paper tube already installed for the servo wire extensions. made things easy. I didn't have to reach bak in to zip tie the extensions so they don't flop around.
The rudder is glued on. I used Gorilla glue. Makes things easy. The pull pull cables are set. I should have all the servos in tomorrow.
I need some more fuel line and a filter then I can finish the tank. I don't like a 3 line tank and this kit is already plumbed for it. I'll guess I'll use it the way it is.

Both are Harleys. The custom bike I built and won a show with it. But I just like riding them better. Both are for sale. Know anyone that wants to buy them. I need more planes.

RE: Redwing 50cc Sboch
Man that looks really close to my goldwing version of the sbach 50cc.what engine are you using?? i mounted a dle-55 in mine and had to jet the stock 2-5/8 standoffs and use some from evolution engines at 2-1/8plus 8 wooden ring spacers that come with the kit to wind up with 2-3/8 to keep the spinner from sticking out 1/4 of an inch i front of the cowl!!! now the pitts muffler hits the firewall and the stock muffler will leave a huge hole in the cowl so i'm stuck in a decision use a canister exhaust or stick the nose out 1/4 of an inch more??? i still have yet to get the radio installed will have them next month!!! sure hope they fly as good as they look!!!!

RE: Redwing 50cc Sboch
This one is also made by Gold Wing. I'm planing on using a YD Aero 56 in mine. It is currently being broke in on a friends plane. While I was playing with the Cowl I noticed that the firewall seemed close to the front of the Cowl. I measured mine at 6 1/4". Will see what I need when I get the engine back. No hurry on the engine since our weather has turned to[:@]
There is the new 60cc coming out soon from YD Aero. Who knows. I may opt for that option.
I noticed that you had to remove the Chin Scoop. I was afraid of that.
TJ built one already. Maybe he can tell us what he used for standoffs.

On my Cub I had to cut an angle on the bottom of the firewall to clear the pits muffler that I was using. I capped the hole I cut with 1/8 ply and Epoxy. Was very strong and provided plenty of clearance for the muffler. That may be an option for you.
I tried to find a picture of it but don't have any that shows the cut out.

as soon as i finish framing up the 91" big hots on my building table i will unhang the sbach and finish it up!!! and take another look at the firewall and see if i can angle it at the bottom???
i would like to put smoke on it and the canister tunnel would make a great place for the tank and the pitts muffler is smoke ready!!! i really did'nt want to remove the scoop but i did'nt have a choice!!! i already had the dle-55 and it needed a home!!!

Contac JTEC and give them the dimension of the area you have to work with and they will build you a pitts wrap around muffler that will work. They have done this for me in the past. Their mufflers are great quality and most times will improve the performance of your engine. I hope this helps.

I didn't get a lot done on the Sboch today. I was helping a friend put Some fiberglass on his P-47.
In between coats of polly drying. I got to finish up the left Stab and mount it. Also finished the Servo arms for the ailerons.

Good luck on your trip. You are going to miss the Swop Meet. I was hoping to pick up your MX for a song and a dance. Yeah I know. Not a chance.
Keep in touch.
