The Skyraider Mach II at $70 is a great price, but I went to order it and got to the shipping page. Nearly $30. I waited a nanosecond before closing the window. Saturday I picked up a Seagull Spacewalker II at the LHS for a little more than that combined price, and it's a nice, distinctive-looking plane.

That's a new engine AND airplane for $143.00 total, less than the price of most .40 size ARFs.

Don't know who wants 30 bux to ship you an ARF, but that is a ripoff!
Most mailorder hobby dealers charge 7-8 dollars max
A few even ship free for orders over $100. I always ask about shipping options before ordering anything
Good Luck

Well I ordered a Skyraider Mach II in white and a Hanger 9 Twist 3D. 160$ for both so not bad for 2 planes. Seen the Twist for 99$ and couldn't help it. Gonna wait on the funtana and maybe go with a .60 UCD. We'll see. No matter what they will be funner than my Nexstar and will keep me busy for a while. Let me know if you think I made a good decision.

If I were you, I'd go with the .60 size Funtana, a lot better looking than the .40 size and not much more money...

How does the Skyraider Mach-II compare to the 4*?
I started on the nexstar, built a 4* crashed it into toothpicks, and bought the mach II. I was a little more comfortable with the 4* probably because it was slower and a little softer control inputs on the recommended throws. The mach II (46fx from the 4*) is definitely a fast little plane, the elevator was a little too much for me and I was comfortable at 1/2 throttle, full throtle was a handful for me. Last time I flew the throtle linkage came loose at full throttle and I spent 17 minutes of white knuckle flying til it ran out of fuel :0 But for $70 I figured I could crash 2 for the price of one 4* ARF. And the Mach II is a very nice ARF for the money, better hardware than the 4* kit had for abt the same price. The mach II seems almost "flimsy" but it holds up to my abuse so that was no concern. There is a guy at our field who flies a mach II and does every maneuver in the book, it is a capable plane. The plane lands easier than my nexstar does. I also have been flying since about April and have progressed quickly, and I have a long way to go before I master the Mach II.

I also think that a stick would make a good second plane. My second one was a GP big stick 40 and it was a big step up from my trainer. I have since moved on to larger more expensive planes but the stick got me there. I just purchased another stick for the days when I don't want to fly my larger planes. Check out the Super Stunts 40 & 60 from World Models. They are very nice plane and are much larger in size than the stick planes from other company's.
