I have two OS 160 twins and have found the ONLY way to get a reliable way to get this engine to run properly is to use a Perry Aeromotive Oscillating Pump mounted to the front engine bolts. This will place it just about under and behind the carburetor. I used a 1 1/2" wide flat piece of aluminum long enough to reach both front engine bolts. You have to cut a U-shape out of the aluminum to fit around the bottom of the engine to get it too mount up to the engine bolts. I have taken a picture of my C-182 without takeing the cowl off too maybe show you.
Of course glow plug heat is also a must and helps...but it is a fuel draw problem.

I have several OS 160 engines (3) and I never had a lick of trouble with them...in fact I think they are the best in this size in the hobby. Two of them are in Cubs, a DPM with the tank in the kit position, and a 1/4 scale Sig cub, and in a Precedent Turbulent. The two cubs have the ED 103 glo plug heater and the Turbulent has no heater. On the Turbulent, my field box cant light the two plugs in parallel, so I start the engine on one plug and then switch the plug and light the other one. Love those engines!

Does anyone know if DPM has ANY cubs in stock (clipped or PA)? I have been trying to call for two weeks and they never answer the phone.

I have been trying to get some rough estimate from DPM, when their Super Cubs would be in stock, again.
Tried to get this fax through, all of last week. No connection!
Maybe they are abroad and their fax has no paper anymore.....???
When I did reach Sandy via phone, about two months ago, she said they had no Super Cub stock (neither standard nor clipped wing) at all
and that it would probably take at least several more months. Whatever that means.....
Maybe their producer has gone astray.....
Well, at least you're not the only one to wait for the PA 18.

is it possible they have no planes (of any kind) in stock and have the phone off the hook?!? I have dealt with them in the past and it wouldn't surprise me.
I do love his stuff though.

I have heard before that they use the same factory in China as Hanger 9 and other big resellers. Their orders take a back seat to the orders from the big resellers. I can't say that this is really the case, but it sure looks like it.
It would be really nice if DPModels would update their news page on their website at least once a month.

I am a real sucker. I check every day to see if they have updated anything on thier website. Nope, never! I am very happy with all my DP products, including an awesome running bluehead. But why do they have to put that damn message on the page that says to check back often when they never change anything? What a shame. I talked to Sandy back in January and she told me they were testing a new 50cc ultimate biplane. I told her I was very interested and that my birthday was in March and I was hopping to get into the 50cc class by then. She said they were already flying one and they should be available around then. It is now mid October and I have emailed her and called and left messages several times. No return calls, or mail and no new biplane. This is really too bad. Ok I dont want to bash them too much but just wanted to warn others not to wait on them unless you have patience.

MadDog, I hear ya. Even if there was no real groundbreaking news, they could tell us. I don't know why they don't change factories. There must be another way to get their models built. Even offering them as kits cut by an american based kit cutter would be a 100% improvement. I still enjoy long winters building kits.

Randy,
Appreciate your hint!!!
Like you, I want one, too, but can't buy this one, because he is not shipping abroad.
In addition, I need an unbuilt ARC or WHITE one, since I want to put it on floats.
Would be a shame to do modifications to a beautifully finished Super Cub.
So, hopefully, this one will find its way into good hands!
Is anybody willing to sell me an unbuilt DAVE PATRICK PA 18 / PA18 SUPER CUB in WHITE or ARC?
I'll be paying a very good price!
Need the plane for float competition, next May.

farmerric, which carb do you have on your engines? The old air bleed or the newer metered one. Also, what fuel do you use?
Thanks

I cant tell what the carb type is right now...they are all inside a cowl. All of them are over 5 yrs old, and I never adjusted the idle from the original setting. They just run..7000 RPM on an 18-8 Masterscrew and 7300 RPM on an 18-6 Zinger and 92 dbm at 10 ft. I use sid morgan 12% 18% oil

Matt,
I have the ARC clipped wing brand new that I bought about 5 months ago, other than bolting it together nothing has been done to it except no manufactures box, tossed it out. Also have optional parts would need to sell all together, for the right price I may let it go.
Cub 550.00
Dave Patrick dash 25.00
Cub wheels 25.00
2 15-foot rolls white 21st century fabric 106.00
Full cockpit from scalercmodels.com 100.00

Thank you very much for your offer! But I already have a Clipped Wing.
I appreciate your help and am sure, somebody else will read your post and buy it.
Good luck and thanks again!

After attending the IHOBBYEXPO last Thursday I, of course didn't see DPM there. I did however place an order for a 105" Tigermoth from Powerline Hobbies that looks like it will be a nice substitution for the S'Cub, at least for me. It ships around November 20th, and somehow I believe them. They tell me my OS 1.60 twin I have had waiting will be perfect and maybe even my KELEO exhaust, MPI glow driver, and SWB stand-offs will work out in the Tigermoth as well.
Good luck and I hope to see more progress and tips communicated here. I have flown 1:1 size Supercubs a lot, but never a Tigermoth, at least I'll have a smaller one soon.

, I would make up some shipping boxes probably in 2 or 3 boxes instead of 1 large like they shipped it. Still not 100% i want to sell it seeing as how hard they are to get and they are really nice but for the right offer I may. I'll post some pics with everything included when I get some time.

Hey Ray, I think you have had the longest wait of anybody on here and there is no excuse for that. Dave Patrick does a good job of designing planes that fly really nice and that is THE ONLY reason they are still in business. How can they make a living with nothing to sell? This must be a sideline biz which explains why they don't give a $#@&%!!! about their customers.

Hey guys
I have been checking www.davepatrickmodels.com , almost daily, for about 3 months, in hope of an update saying they had the PA-18s in stock, again.
The site always worked. Tried to access it, yesterday and today. No success. Seems, their website is down. Anyone of you more talented than me?
Maybe it is finally being updated with the so long desired news...
Or is it a symptom of the beginning of the end? [&o]
