Hey Guys,
Should I be getting worried?.....I ordered my Edge on Dec. 7th, and as of today, I still have not recieved it. Is this a normal wait time?

glowplug, just shoot an email to [email protected] and they will answer you very promptly. They should be able to tell you what the shipping status is on your order.[8D]

Well, I sent my Saito 120 off to have it repaired. I hope to hear something by week's end on the status of it. I sent it just as I took it off the plane, dirt, sand, and all. I didn't want to risk damaging it further by a feeble attempt to clean it. Hopefully I can get it back and then start the process of deciding what to put it next. Another Edge? An Extra? The Sukhoi? All the choices look good.

Glowpug, I believe the current website info states a 4 week delivery time. So if you ordered on the 7th you still have approximately 2 weeks to go. However, several of us waited 6 weeks or so for our deliveries. However, as Primodus stated you can always send and email to get current order status.

Here is my bio, my name is Ron, I am 37 and origianlly from Wisconsin and now reside in Florida. I am a Biologist by training and spend my work hours working for the State of Florida. I started flying R/C planes about 4 months ago. My dad started flying in the 50s or something like that and got back into it when he moved to Florida about 4 years ago. He finally convinced me to try. I am sorry I waited so long, what a blast! I bought Real Flight Pro and practiced for a week, and then flew my dad's Dazzler twice on the buddy box and then soloed and got my flying permit at our local club. I belong to our local club The Airmasters. My first plane was the FuntanaS 40 with a Saito 82. I now have a OMP Katana profile with a YS 63, a 4*40 with an OS 46, a Lainer Slasher with a OS 25, and a Tensor 4D electric. I am waiting on my VF Edge 540 and I am building a Quiet Storm electric (if you can call it building). I am currently learning to do some 3D stuff, flying some combat, and our club is about to start some pylon racing which I plan on trying. That's about it.

Well as everyone has introduced themselves I guess it will be my turn...

My name is Nathan and ive been flying for a little over a year now. But, i do consider myself pretty good. Ive been into RC for a little over 12 years now. Started with RC boats and moved to cars. Been racing cars for about 8 years going to santioned events ect. I had about 5-6 cars ranging from a cheapy HPI RS4 to a Serpant 950 1/8 scale. When i was stationed in Korea with the army i worked at a local hobby shop off post. Once i got out of the army i started working at Hobby Town as as Assistant manager. Thats when i met the manager he got me into planes. I didn't go the normal route witht he planes. As my first plane was the lanier ripper, a combat plane. Probally one of the stupidest moves but, i started with the simulator. Ive been pretty big into RC combat went to plenty of events and not winning anything. Hehe!! Harder than it looks. Starting my plane collection i had a modified superstar 40, which i changed to no dyhedrial and a tail dragger, then moving into the Tiger 2 which I stuffed a O.S 50sx into. My edge is my 4th plane not icluding all the electric 3d foamys i have.
I work at hobby town to pay for my schooling. Im currently finishing up my BA degree into computer networkings. During so i recieved my MCP in 2000 professional and server. Now im working on my CCNA. Im a little computer geek at heart. If im not flying im tweaking on my computers.

I don't want to put anyone to sleep with my story but I will tell it anyhow.

My name is Ray Moore, I am 34 years old, and I live in west central Illinois. I am a Brickmason by trade, and a 3rd Partner along with my other two brothers in Moore Masonry Construction Inc. I am the youngest Brother of the three, and me and the next oldest Brother have dabbled in R/C Cars, Control Line Cox Planes, Rubber Band Power Planes, Free Flight Planes, Rockets and Gliders most of our lives. Since very young kids we had always wanted a big 4 Channel Radio Controlled Plane though. There was always this one Tiger Trainer that hung in one of my local Hobby Shops on display for years, and I would just stand in the store and stare at it forever, and I knew that one day I would have a Plane like that. I also had a friend who bought a Radio Controlled Ultralight Model Plane when I was probally around 12 or 13, and I can remember helping him to assemble it, but once it was done the fear of crashing it set in, and he finally sold it without a single flight attempt. I married fairly young, and started having kids shortly after. Every dime I earned was used just to try to keep our heads above water, and there was definately never an extra Dime to spend on any Airplane that I had always dreamed of. It was not until after I completed my Bricklayer Apprenticeship and earned Journeyman Status, and Journeyman wages that finally I had a little extra that I could spend on a hobby. My first real purchase as an adult was about 4 years ago and the first Plane I purchased was an Electric 3CH Cessna with something like a 35" Wing Span, and some cheap little 3Channel AM Radio. My Brother who had always had the same dream as me bought one to. We flew the heck out of them little things and must have crashed them at least a hundred times, but we just kept taping them back together. We had a ball! Then while browsing on ebay about 3 years ago I ran across a good deal on an old Great Planes Trainer .40. It was very used, but it was Ready to Fly, and even came with my first Futaba Conquest 4 Channel FM Radio. Man I was in heaven now! After I recieved the Plane I knew that it was not going to take the beaten me and my Brothers little Electrics had, so I knew I had to find a Club. After doing a little research I found a Club about 15 miles from my house, and joined.

When my Brother found out that I had joined a Club, he quickly went out and purchased a new Alpha Trainer, and also joined the Club. On our first day out to the Club, I had my Instructor take my Plane up, and within 5 minutes into flight he lost Radio Contact with the Plane(uncharged Battery), and it went straight in, and was demolished. I wasn't off to a good start, but I had allready been bitten by the bug and went straight home and ordered me a New Tower Trainer .40 ARF. I had it delivered to my house, and assembled all before the next weekend. This time things went better! Since I was fairly familiar with 3 Channel Control, my Instructor had me soloing in about 2 weekends. After that I just went crazy buying Planes, Engines, Flight Packs, Kits, tools, etc. I was definately hooked! From the time I have soled till now I have bought, and sold more Planes than I care to remember. My Brother followed the same path also, except that he has leaned more towards electric power, while my thing, and always will be gas. At the current time I have about 13 Planes in my Hangar including the New VectorFlight Edge 540.

So to me I am doing something that I have dreamt about doing every since I was very small, and it is every bit as great as I had always imagined it would be as I look back and see myself standing in that shop and stareing up forever at that old Tiger Trainer display

I am also a computer nut which is probally just due to the fact that I spend so much time on it in the Winter when work is slow. I still find it amazing that I can sit here and visit with people who have the same interest that I do and live all over the U.S, but yet we sit here and talk like neighbors. Technology has come so far. I told my kids a story about me standing on the roof as a kid holding the TV antenna in just a certain position just so my brother could watch a show on the TV, and that the picture was so bad that most of the time you only got audio, and had to use your imagination and guess what them people on TV were actually doing behind all that snow on the screen of the TV. ...............................................The y have grown up on Sattelite TV, and didn't believe my story I don't think! Yep!, technology has sure come a long way!

Ok, so I don't exactly have a VF plane (in flying condition), but I you guys are still stuck with me around to bug you about VF stuff. So that being said, here's a bit of background on me.

My name is Luke, I am 33, and by the looks of it, right at home with the proffesions you guys are in. I run a local ISP and computer repiar shop in rural Alabama. I got into RC planes about 3 years ago starting with an Aerobird. Actually, My first nitro powered plane was a GP Super Sportster 60. That was followed by another GP Super Sportster 60. I don't think I was meant to have either one of them, they both died in a weekend. Although, I was able to solo on the first one without a hitch. Mechanical failure got them both. Next came a GP Shoestring that I flew for months before I banged it up to badly to repair. I tried my hand at spads, but they weren't my style. I've tried to squeeze a lifetime of flying into the last 3 years, playing my hand at every style of RC flight I can find (except Heli's). My current hangar is shown in my signature below. I am working on converting the Telemaster into a candy dropper/float plane alternating.

Ray,

I agree with you 100%. As they say, it's too bad that youth is wasted on the young.

I replyed to Gary in a hurry this AM and didn't really give any bio info.

At 49, I guess I'm a committed bachelor (straight). My Labrador, Huck, and I live in an old house with a wood stove for heat. House won't be on the Tour of Homes, but it keeps us dry and mostly warm. As a bachelor, I have the liberty of using the dining room for airplane assembly and repairs. I have another hobby room located off the living room but it's all junked up with gun and handloading stuff.

I'm a professional geologist and I work for a small consulting firm here in Macon. I work primarily on landfill and groundwater projects, with some construction (geotechnical) related work. My parents and brother still live on the farm about an hour north of here, and I go there when I'm not flying. I would love to retire and go back up there and build my own flying field, but I'd have to keep it pretty private because there are some neighbors not too far away.

OK! First of all, I don't think you will let that little setback with the Edge stop you from figuring out a way to get another one, and second of all I have kind of gotten used to your company on here, so chime in anytime you like!

Gary
You should be getting your cord here in a couple days, so let me know when it gets there, so I know that you got it all right.

I am also working on a new set of Great Planes wheel pants that I had laying around here that came out of a kit. I am going to try to see what I can do to make them strong for the Edge, but without adding to much weight. I will let you guys know if I come up with anything brilliant......................................... ................................................wh ich would be a first!

Well, after stalking this forum for several days AND reading nearly all of the posts, I ordered a VFE last Friday nite after a couple of glasses of wine.....Emails with VF staff and reading the posts made me decide to go with a Saito 100 instead of the 120 I have in a 60 size Great Planes Extra that is about ready for it's final "Durability Test by Jon". This plane has seen better days, it's gained about a pound and a half from all the repairs.

So far, I have found the posts extremely helpful and informative. I'll probably have to read back thru all of them when I finally get the edge.

Welcome to the thread, and hope you enjoy the new Edge when it comes. I usually have to get a 12 pack of Bud Light in me before I make those big buying decisions, so if you was able to make up your mind on only a couple glasses of wine then I would say that you pretty much had your mind made up. It is a bit of wait to get a VF Plane, but I think you will find that it is worth it. The quallity is GOOD, the price is GOOD, and the Customer Service is GOOD! So you have something to really look forward to. You won't find to many dissapointments here!

Grelker,

Welcome our little thread. I know that you will not be disappointed once you get that beautiful bird in your hands. But be prepared for a wait. I think this thread as well as one from Primodus a couple of months ago really got the word out on their awesome planes. They are backlogged. Expect a 4-6 week delay in the receipt of your plane. But you will forget all about the wait once the plane arrives.

Let us know how everything goes. Follow up on this thread as we will always be updating it.

Ray, I will be getting a new set of GP wheelpants to replace the ones that I screwed up. The set that I bought consists of plastic that is a hair thicker than the plastic used on the cowl. It is extremely tough. I should have them completed by Wed evening and will posts pics.

I would like to take this time to welcome all the newcomers to this thread. I hope that you can find some of this information helpful as you build your Edge. Although I can usually find solutions myself, I love hearing what others have done to their planes. I am not afraid to try someone else's idea if it makes my plane perform better, easier to setup at the field, or whatever. Keep the ideas coming guys.

I would like to take a moment now to say Thanks to everyone that has given a brief history of their life in r/c. As Ray said, it feels almost like we are neighbors. I know one thing, I feel a stronger bond with you guys than I do with most of my club members. I guess we have been exchanging ideas and everything else for quite some time that I feel comfortable.

One thing that I would really like to organize: A VF Funfly. I would love to be able to meet everyone firsthand. I think it would be a huge accomplishment to see many VF planes in the air at one time. Let me know what everyone thinks. I have plenty of vacation time and income tax season is here. I could use a good road trip to get away from here for a few days.

Talk to everyone later.

I think Ron aka rbgunner mentioned that eariler and yes it would be an awesome idea. We could probably get vectorflight involved too which would be that much better. Who ever in this group has a decent field thats somewhat central would be awesome. My field is pretty big but, we got strict rules when large groups are involved. That and our club is not yet Incorporated which makes it kinda freaky!! [link=http://www.pwcrcf.org]Prince William RC flyers[/link]

Speaking of are your clubs Incorporated? Ive threatened to leave our field because the president is so freakin' greedy, that he wont spend the money on becoming Incorporated.

Wow this thread really moves fast! Ok folks my name is Brian, I have been flying RC for about 12 years and tinkering with planes cars and bikes for about 20 years! In the earlier years I actually started by making some rubber powered models , then tried gliders, including building a 120 inch sailplane, (from plans, there were a lot of ribs to cut!), joy to build but a handful to fly. I still love to build, but like many others have no time for building now between career and family, so its mostly ARFs now.

Brian, glad to hear from you again. It's been a while since you last chimed in. I agree, this thread moves faster than I can keep track some times. From about 3:00 pm to about 11:00 pm, 19 new posts were up. It is amazing to see such an interest in a great plane.

Luke, just because you had a mishap with your Edge doesn't excuse you from continuing with this thread. I consider you part of the VF family now. I think that most of us here will agree that your help has been greatly appreciated. I hope that you can get another VF plane soon and get it up in the air even sooner. Keep us posted.

Later.
