Any input will help, I'm interested in both Hanger nines 540 versus Lanier's 540 in 1.20 size
I'm using a Saito 1.80. nothing else, it is the engine I already own.
I'm just unsure about which plane to use.
I 've read both good and bad on the hanger but what is the latest on the Lanier 540.
I like the hanger Nine, but with weight and Y Elev. Problem just unsure.
I rather have my servos in the tail, as with all my 80in planes.
So I'd like to hear from both Lanier 540 and Hanger 540 1.20 Owners.

I have built and flown both, the only draw back to the H-9 is the one peice wing.As far as the y-pushrod for the ele goes,I and most others put two mini servos in the tail, works great. Both fly equally as well, but I liked the Lanier better because of the two peice wing, and the model is a little more stream lined,if that makes any sense, where in La.are you?I am in Covington.
Her is a link that shows some mods to the H-9,including the ele servos.

I have seen both planes in action. I think the H9 is by far a better looking airplane. The Lanier just doesnt look as good.
The guy who built the lanier said that he thinks ARF on the Lanier means ( almost ready to fit) He said it was a real pain to build with very poor fit on just about everything. It is powered by a Saito 180 and it flies real well but it just doesnt look that good.
The guy who has the H9 said it was a real good fitting ARF and he had zero problems with the fit of all parts. It is powered by an OS 160 with a smoke system. It is very impressive!!!!!!!!!!!! You wouldnt believe how much a 160 will smoke!!!!!!!!
I think the 160 has a lot more power than the 180 saito also. It sure pulls the H9 around very impressively, even with the additional 2 pounds for the smoke system.
I would go with the H9 you wont be sorry.

Yeah, I believe your right.
the hanger does have better presence and I've always been a two stroke man but I have the engine already and I want to use it on this project.
For my fun I have a 3.2 Brisson on my 80in GSC 540 which is just (Plane Fun)
Thanks for all the flyers who are responding.
And yes the End result will be The Hanger Nine 540 as it is soon to be out of Production.

Just Order the Hanger Nine 540, hope I didn't also order a whole bunch of trouble in getting this bird set up.
I will be putting my Saito 1.80 and I'm also installing two Hitec mighty mini servos in the tail for better control.
Still I'm unsure yet where I'll put rudder servo perhaps in the recomended place with a pull-pull cable.

Hey Attack; You'll love the Saito 180/ H-9 Edge 540 combo!! I have this set up. I did have to add 5oz to the nose with no servo mods. Do make sure you beef up the landing gear area with extra 1/4" plywood and tri-stock, and have a ball......

Attack Heli - I don't have any direct experience with the H9 Edge but I can tell you that you made a good decision in avoiding the Lanier Edge. I recently purchased one and stripped the covering because of some of the RCU posts I had read. A couple of the numerous things I found were cracked sheeting on one wing from the aileron cut-out to the root rib, and also cracked sheeting on one of the ailerons from the leading edge to the trailing edge. Lanier's response, after initially telling me the components would be replaced? I was told that since I had stripped the covering I had modified the plane, and therefore voided my warranty. The tech I talked to made it sound like they did me some great favor by putting a little white glue over the cracks prior to sending the wings back. I'm afraid there may also be damage to the foam cores so my only options are to either put it all in the trash or buy another set of wings, which may or may not also be cracked. Needless to say, I'm not spending another dime on this rag so I guess it's been a $350 lesson in learning not to purchase anything that is Lanier affiliated. IMO, stay away from Lanier products!

I really don't understand all you guys that feel the need to strip covering off these planes and modify them.I have builtand flown many, many, many ARF's fromany manfacturers, both for myself and others, and have never felt the need to go into them other than maybe adding some CA where I can reach.I fly these planes as hard as anyone, and have never had a structural failure!I ahve recieved some damaged patrs, but have always been taken care of by the distributor.Put the Damn things together and fly em.s far as Lanier goes,I can't speak for others experiences, but I Bought two Predator 500"s when they first came out,and both had defective wheels that cracked on landing, causing cartwheels and pretty much destroying the planes,I called Lanier and they said they would get back to me.Ireally didn't expect a response, but a couple of days later, they called and said they would replace both kits,a week later I had two new Predator's at my door step.

I can't speak for others, but the reason I stripped the covering, L2rcav8, was to make sure the plane was airworthy (safe) before putting it in the air. It wasn't. There were other problems that I found that were not mentioned in the previous post, such as elevator sheeting that didn't have a drop of glue on it. If I had not stripped the covering I would obviously have not have known about the needed repairs. I'm out the money I paid for the plane since Lanier says I somehow modified the plane by simply removing the covering, but I would rather be out the money than to have taken a faulty plane to the field and endangered others.

vtsmx,I didn't intend to be rude,it just amazes me how many people do that(strip covering).I guess you can never be too safe!!If you see something taht indicates there may be a problem, you should check it out.I agree that they should replace it if it was of poor quality, like I said, they took care of me and didn't even ask me to send it back, altough I did send pics.I guess I've been lucky, but I probablly just put the GRIE-GRIE on my Katana,I hope not!!
Goood luck,

Thanks for your insightful thoughts Boris, I'm still laughing. Though, I don't really see how your commentary applies to the question in the original post? Remember, the one asking for input on H9 and Lanier Edges?
