Great pictures!
One is now my desktop wallpaper.
I'll have to do something like this if I ever receive my 120 size.
Really looks good!

Thanks to all for the compliments on the trim. I'll try and answer all the questions in one post.
I am using a JR 8103 TX and JR 700 series RX with a standard switch harness and have no glitching issues. I run the same 6 volt 750mah AAA RX pack in an Extra I have, only with JR 811 digital servos. They seem to twitch a bit, but the Hitecs are solid in my Ultimate. A buddy of mine had the problem you are describing in a Giles he built, I'll ask him what he did to remedy the problem.
To mount the engine enclosed completely, I used the kit mounts and angled the engine a few degrees CCW on the head side. It sits rotated slightly crooked in the cowling, but it's not too offensive unless you look at it straight on. It all lines up correctly to the thrust lines. The plane required almost no trim when I first flew it, so thrust angles appear okay. The cooling fins are very close to the cowl and I actually cracked the paint a bit by pushing too hard on the cowl while putting a driver on the glow plug. I have since touched it up.
The tail wheel is actually a Klett (forgot to mention that in my first post). It's not super heavy and doesn't put a load on the rudder. Ground handling is excellent. Seems plenty durable.
The fuel draw seems just fine the way it is. I am not running a pump. Doesn't lean out in flight and idle is smooth and reliable. Of note, this engine is well broken in. I robbed it from another plane I have flown a heck of a lot this season.

Good to hear I'm not the only one with a problem runing the 5245's on a 6 volt system....Hopefully his solution isn't the one I came up with.....To use a 4.8 volt battery

HSH,
He said he used a voltage regulator. He thinks it came from Horizon. He was using a JR radio at the time and it sounds like he had the same issues.
He went to JR for this solution. Maybe try getting in touch with Futaba and ask them.
Hope that helps. Have you tried a different 6v RX pack?

Ohh yeah..... I've tried everything... I'll have to get one of those regulators and see if that changes things!
Thanks

...............BTW, I previosuly mentioned my ST 60 being possibly too heavy, well the local Post Office, on 2 diffrent scales, weighed it for me at 13.50 oz. The JTEC pitts muffler was another 2.70 oz. I thought 16.20 oz for a .60 size engine was dang good. If this engine still runs I'll likelt use it. It was simply spectacular on my Hobbico Ultimate, absolutely unlimited vertical at just over 1/2 throttle and it weighed nearly 6 lbs. Course it's been on the shelf for 9 years now.
Hi Chris,
Wow 16+ ounces for a 60??? That is great! Most 46's with muffler weigh about that amount. Do you know if ST still makes an engine that light?

No I'm sorry to say I do not know if ST still makes a 60 size that light. I doubt it though.
FWIW, I did not end up using the engine. I couldn't get the carb spray bar replaced since ST moved production to China parts were unavailable at the time. I used a new Saito 72 in it.

reznor, I am wondering how many flights you can get in on a 6V 750 AAA pack. I think the 6V pack drains a little faster than a 4.8 V pack, and 750 is not a big pack by today's standards. It sure is great to save the weight though.
Just curious,
Ernie

From: Dawson, IA,
I too have a DP Ultimate 40 ARF on order, but am seriously looking at the Funtana instead.
Has DP received a shipment as of late/ how long have people been waiting fro the 40 ARF?
If the wait is going to long, I plan to grab a Funtana to tide me over.
Glad to see the YS 63 getting the "props" it deserves......oops pardon my pun.

Great trim change REZNOR!!!! I am also starting to build this plane and had intended to us the OS 50SX with a Bisson pitts muff. I have two questions. Are you having any heat problems with the engine totally enclosed? How is the noise level with the Bisson and did you have any tunning problems using the Bisson(back pressure change from stock muffler).

Cheif Aircraft has the Ultimate 40 in both trim schemes in stock...I'd go for the bipe rather than the Funtana!! Awsome plane!
